No, they won't directly oomm. It's kind of a trade off for AI's support.

When they do their own songs, it will be different, and depends on who owns the RIGHTS to the songs. Generally the publisher does. An album is divided into 100 "points" and the majority goes for the production costs. (Production costs must be covered before the artist sees even one red cent!) How many "points" the artists get on the album is negotiated in their initial contracts. This figure is typically between 3 and 7 points of the 100.

there's alot more that goes into how it all works, but I thought the "basic" rundown would make sense and not make your head spin! (I think we spent almost two weeks on this subject in my Music Business class)

don't download the songs he performed from the show because you can get all of those free at a series of different websites.

HEY...copa cabana was fun....I thought it was fun, anyway!!!

I gave in and bought the songs and videos. I couldn't help it. I needed to have them to watch and listen to any time I wanted and I didn't want to steal them from other people's websites. So about nine of my dollars went to 19Evil. Eh. I hope they notice that Elliott's downloads are off the hook and notice that he should've been a contender and lament the fact that they will get nothing of the gazillions he makes in the future because they made sure he didn't win.
