Does anyone watch soaps?

I have one time or another watched every soap that has been on television..except for "Passions". I just can't go there.

Days of our Lives and General Hospital have been my most watched soaps.
I still somewhat watch DAYS because I LOVE MiMi and Shawn. Shawn..slurps* I know alot of people perfer Shawn and Belle. Eh.

I used to could not have missed a day of General Hospital but my fave Alicia LEigh Willis (Courtney) left the show and it just became boring w/out her there. But I still read about Gh all the time so I know what is going on.

So what is everyone's fave soap?

General Hospital fan since 1979! I missed a few years during high school in the mid '80's but I haven't missed an episode since 1996. I love Steve Burton! :drool: What a hottie!

Oh me too. I used to lurk on the soap net & General Hospital Happenings 2 message boards! Don't go there anymore cuz I'm here all the time. But I love JASAM! They need to get back together. I apologize to the OP but I never really liked Courtney. Sorry!

I never got into JaSam. :unsure: I stopped liking Jason after Journey broke up.
I'm fickle that way. I do know though that JaSam are hugely popular.

I used to like Liz and Lucky too. I forgot to add that. I even liked Becky Herbst w/ Ol' Yellar. (JY) I'm prolly about the only one though. :/
I also was a huge LiRic fan. Rick Hearst is one of my fave daytime actors ever.
Becky/Ric had remarkable chemistry. But, not everyone was into them since Ric tried to kill her and all. :unsure:

I actually did like JY too. I forgot about him since he's been on AMC I only see him as that character now (JR, I think).
Rick Hearst is HOT! And I like his character when he's not going nuts. the kidnapping of Carly and chaining her to a wall was insane. And what he's doing to Sonny right now is messed up. Not that I really care about Sonny much anymore. He used to be one of my faves too but I CANNOT STAND him and Emily together.
My all time fave is Sarah Brown's Carly. I loved to hate her and then feel sorry for her. SB was an awesome actress. Man she could cry at the drop of a dime. Everytime I get used to a new carly she leaves. I think this new one looks like she could've been Courtney's sister. But she's growing on me.

My dad feels the same way.

Are there any All My Children fans in the house? :D

ETA: I should add that I've been watching AMC since 1984 (age 12).

OMG, yoli...Rick Hearst is as hot as they come. :wub: And he just keeps on getting progressively hotter as the years go by. Yeah, that kind of sucked when he kidnapped Carly and tied her up and was planning to steal her baby. :/ But, RH is so damn good w/ that dark stuff. The crap going on w/ Sonny is just ridiculous though. He needs to just get over his Sonny obsession. I wish that they would bring his dad, Trevor on so it would explain some of his psychois.
I hear ya on not giving a s*** about Sonny. I am so over him. *yawns* Maurice used to be awesome. Now? Eh. Soily are as horrid as they come. Forever there was arunning joke, "What if they stuck Sonny and Em together"?
Never, ever figured it would come into fruition. Sonny/Em are 2 of my most hated characters on the show as is. Once you stick them together as a couple...*gags*
Sarah Brown was awesome! I think she was everyone's fave Carly. She set the standard for all things Carly. I liked her and JAson, too. Even though they were as dsyfunctional as they come.
I don't really like Laura Wright's Carly at all. She has her bicthface on all the time. That is NOt acting. I thought Tamara Braun brought a certain vulnerability to the role.
Another couple I find deplorable is Carly/Jax. He is too good for her. Never mind that he stole Courtney and Nikolas's kid. But I like Jax and think he would do better w/ someone who's not as batshit crazy. I'm still hoping Courtney will rise from the ashes so she can get back w/ him and they can raise John together.

I used to watch AMC all the time. Jonathan wasmy fave character. He was so evil..lol. I cannot stand the whole Jon/Lily crap. But Jonboy seems to be showing shades of him old self. Hee! I think Jeff Branson is a excellent actor when he's given the right stuff. They have absolutely wasted him since he came back.
I also like Zach/Kendall. LOVE Thorsten Kay. *slurps* And JR/Babe. Nevermind that he tried to kill Babe. :/ But i don't get to watch AMC as much as I would like too. But i may concert a extra effort now that it seems Jonboy is coming back alive.

Yep, Jonboy is back to his old self (well, not the evil part). For some reason, he believes Lily will only be happy if he continues to stutter. So now he plans to fake it "for Lily" because he wants to be the man she needs him to be. Erin said he should tell Lily the truth. I wonder how long he can keep this up.

I love Kendal and Zach... especially Zach (hot!). Now Ryan is on this "I love Kendall" kick. Blech. I can't stand Ryan. I'm sure he and Kendall will get back together eventually because they have a child together and this is a soap opera after all, but I hope it isn't anytime soon.

I have been watching Days for almost 40 years. My aunt got me hooked. During the school year, she would keep me up-to-date on all the happenings. This, of course, was long before VCRs, the internet, and soap magazines. During the summer, I could watch for myself. After high school, I also started to watch General Hospital. That one was easier to keep up with because it was on ABC and our local affiliate used to simulcast (only they didn't call it that back then) on the radio. So, at lunch, I would take a radio into the lunchroom and listen while I ate. There were a bunch of us at work that would do this together.

But for many years now, I have only watched Days. I gave it up several times over the years, only to come back a few weeks later. I would get so digusted over the stupid, long drawn-out storylines. I thought I had quit for good finally a few months ago when Zack was killed off. I stopped watching altogether, and didn't even go onto the internet to see what was happening. But then in the grocery store line two weeks ago, I saw the headline that my favorite couple of all time, Patch and Kayla were coming back. So, I'm back to watching it again. And it's now been a week and I must say I am loving Steve and Jack together. And the actress who plays Kayla is even more beautiful than she was 20 years ago.

So, if anyone wants to talk Days, I'm certainly game. I have definite feelings about all the characters. I can't stand (and never could) John, and don't care for Kate, Austin, Belle, Philip, or Mimi. I love Bo and Hope, Sami (yes!), Carrie, Jennifer, Jack, Bonnie, and the rarely seen Maggie, Julie, Doug, and of course, Alice. I adored Josh Taylor as Chris Kostichek, but hate him as Roman. Other past favorites were Mike (both as portrayed by Michael Weiss and Roark Critchlow), Kimberly and Shane, Adrienne (though the actress is back as Bonnie), and one of my all-time favorites, Marcus.

It's funny how you mention the days before VCR's etc, back in the summer of 1980, when Luke & Laura were becoming the IT couple on GH, my sisters and I were hooked on GH. I was 12 and my sisters were 14 & 21. Since the oldest one had a job we would audio tape (on cassettes) the show for her and give little play by play (like "Scotty just walked in but Laura doesn't see him") to set the scene. Pretty funny huh? :lol:

Carly pissed me off today the way she was talking to Nicolas! Man she has got some nerve and now she's gonna turn her wrath on to Robin! Yipes! :unsure:

ITA, in regards to Em & Sonny. Very annoying apart and even worst together. Can you even picture them together if Amber Tamblyn was still Emily? That would be so incestuous (sp)!!! :eww:

For the two days that it took for the wedding of Steve and Kayla, two friends and I had "sweettalked" the owner of a video store down the block from where we worked to have his TV tuned to the station for us. For those two hours, he didn't play any videos, but allowed us to come in and watch the show. All it took was a couple of pizzas. (I think he had a "thing" for my one friend). Even though I had set my own VCR, I wanted to see it as "live" as I could.

I still have those tapes.

Ugh! Freakin' Ryass. Do not like him at all. And can not and do not want to imagine Ryass and Kendall together. The only time I can tolerate Ryan is when he has scenes w/ Jon. I do like CaMat and J.Bran's chemistry.
I'd rather Ryan just stay single, alas..... Youa re prolly right about them eventually trying Ryan/Kendall.

I have watched it since 1988, I think. I remember Steve/Kayla's wedding as one of the first things I ever saw.
Then I quit watching around 2002 and for quite a stupid reason. I LOVED Jay Kenneth Johnson and when they replaced him w/ Kyle Brandt I was so offended so in a bit of protest I quit watching and pay all my attetion to GH.
But last year I started watching DAYS again. I think it was last year anyway. :/
It was when Billy Warlock came back. He was one of my faves on GH. I remember him as Frankie and Francios but didn't care for either. Started loving him as AJ on GH.
HaHa! I don't like John either. Back in the day I used to like him when he was Roman. Then I just basically lost interest. Drake's acting leaves something to be desired. :blink:
Jack and Jennifer were my all time fave soap couples. I was there from the start and loved them so much. I didn't even mind when they replaced Matthew Ashford w/ Mark Valley because, IMO, he made it his own character. THEN they replaced Melissa Reeves w/ freakin' Stephanie Cameron I was like- Um, no. THEN they replaced M.V. W/ Steve whatshisname I was like- OK, that's it w/ that crap.
What a crappy time on DAYS for me. Well except the tme Jennifer married Peter Blake. :furious:

Amber Tamblyn and Maurice is laughable. It would be more like child molestation. Ewwwww! That would have been nasty. He's not far along from looking like Natalia's dad. They are so disgusting. But I would rather her stay w/ Sonny than start sniffling around Nikolas again. NUm is a AWFUL couple. AWFUL. They had some of the worst s/l's EVER. A kiss curing cancer? You're right-from the time they got together all the writers did was give them road blocks--Nik "dying" in the hotel fire. Crazy Mary pulling a "Misery" on Nikolas (and making him believe he was her "dead" hubby). Connor not being dead and falling for and then raping Emily. Nik going to jail for "killing" Helena. Emily just being Emily! All that totally sucked! Sometimes I get so pissed off at the writers for thinking that we would enjoy this crap! :furious:

Well. I used to watch GH until it became the Sonny Jason hour.
I have not watched it since they day Sonny threw money and made Courtney's mom crawl around on the floor, and Emily watched the whole thing and somehow justified it? That was it..........I quit cold and have not watched since (oh wait I did watch the Robert/Anna/Robin/Luke) days, those were lovely…. Overall, MB has turned it GH into junk...I remember a time when I liked Maurice/Sonny…but that was in the 1990’s, now I just pray for his untimely and highly anticipated death…liked most others old school fans of the real General Hospital.

Sometimes I watch the Robert/Robin scenes but now that TG ion on vacation I suspect Robert storyline is going to stink worse than it already does…..although I have heard Anna might be popping in—so we’ll see.

I haven't liked Sonny since--HE SHOT CARLY WHILE SHE WAS GIVING BIRTH. Didn't mean to yell...but it needed to be shouted! That was one of the worst moments I have ever witnessed on GH. That immediately made me change my tune about Sonny. I can't wait for that ol

I truly believe Sonny is the root of all evil regarding the show. It's all about him. Everything. And as a Courtney fan, I was replulsed at how he treated her. He treated her like sludge on the bottom of his shoe. Ridiculous.

I turned on Sonny when he sent Jason into the church with the "It's been a good ride" message. Since that time I pretty much just skip over the Sonny scenes, a task that has been made increasingly difficult since he is in nearly every single scene, every day. Happen to catch that scene with Sonny and Jeanine and I stopped watching.

I miss TG, TR, FH..and if they really are going to do anything interesting with Robert, or bring Anna back I might started watching.....but with TG on vacation I highly doubt it. ..............I loved the Anna/Luke scenes...I always knew they would be Absolutely Fabulous if they ever worked together.

I'm a huge GH fan...but I haven't watched it in months. Things have just gotten too crazy. Like how many times are they gonna replace Carly? Why are Sonny and Emily together??? Georgie and Dillon married?? Courtney and Nikolas had a child???

I am glad that Robin's back though, and I'm still hoping somehow she and Jason can get back together. If I can dream....

I LOVED R&J in the 90's, They were a awesome couple. I figured they might get back together but they haven't had barely any scenes together much less gotten together. :/ No offense to the JaSam fans though.

I love Jason with just about anyone really...I loved him with Robin, Liz, Courtney....and Sam's okay too, I guess, lol.

I'm so sick of the whole organized crime thing. But I guess if there wasn't so much criminal action going on, General Hospital would go out of business, right? I am glad that they're making it more about the doctors though.

I do love General Hospital but sometimes it is so hard to take seriously ( I know, I know it's only a soap opera). I watch Grey's Anatomy and The Sopranos and those medical and mob situations are soo believable that when you see GH try to portray them it just falls short. I mean c'mon...Sonny is no Tony Soprano! I find Tony S. much more likeable than Sonny and he is more brutal!

The Quartemaine action is what got me addicted! Alan had found out about Rick and Monica. Then he decided he was going to kill them both but he was like Wile E. Coyote trying to catch the Roadrunner--all his plans backfired!
