Title: Plastic Cd Wrapper
Description: How do you get it off???

sharonburr - June 16, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
Af first I said that I was NOT going to get a Season 5 Encore AI CD, but changed my mind. So anyway, I got it today and I have been sitting here for I don't know how long picking, jabbing, trying my best to get the stupid clear plastic wrapper off the CD! Is there an easy way to do this??? I have somehow missed the boat in learning how this is done.

:furious:

P.S. I've been wanting an excuse to use the little cussing man. He is so cute.

I use a knife (carefully) and just slice the edge on the side that you would open the cd case :)

yup I do this too, except I normally use scissors. Awhile back I bought a device that you slide along the top and it sliced the wrap for you, but alas, I can't find it!

CathleenSusan, I have one of those little things, too! Picked it up at a trade show. It really works great. Before that, I cursed a lot!!! Those things really are a bitch aren't they? Why can't someone invent an easy-open CD wrapper. Seems like a small thing.

Yes, if anybody knows where I can get one of those little devices, please, please let me know! I don't always have a knife or scissors handy.

CD wrapper is such a pain. When I was in college, I worked at a music store. We often found empty CD cases in the racks because people simply opened them up and stole the disc. So now we have this ridiculous wrapper that no one can open.

That device sounds like a must have.

some CD's that I've bought actually have a little tab to pull...other than that, I usually just use my fingernail and pick at one of the corners where the wrapper comes together.

CathleenSusan - June 19, 2006 10:22 PM (GMT)
well actually, I just use whatever is at hand! A pen, a nail file etc. lol

Here's a surefire, easy way to get that wrapper off. My daughter used to work at one of those CD/movie/book superstores and this is how they did it.

Hold the bottom right edge of the CD between your thumb and forefinger. Hold it so that the top left side of the case is pointing straight up. Tilt the case a little to the right. Then slide what is actually the bottom of the CD along the edge of a kitchen counter, starting at the bottom right (near your thumb) and going all the way to the top. Since she told me about this, I've used this for CDs and DVDs, and it has worked beautifully each time; I've done it a couple of dozen times. This has saved me so much grumbling.

Try it and let me know if this works for you.

They usually come off easy for me, but this Idol CD was somethin' else! It had trouble budging, and now that I finally got it off, it left a nasty line of stickiness that (unsurprsingly) sticks to everything.

hmmm, going to have to give it a try when I get a new CD...might be a while though :)

They are a pain in the butt huh? I guess they do that so nobody will open them too easily in the store.

Or those hard-plastic encased things you buy - they're even worse. Gawd, couldn't they just have a peel open thingy somewhere on it?

Amunet - June 20, 2006 03:57 AM (GMT)
Oh the plastic wrap is annoying... but more annoying than that are those sticker things they put on DVD cases... well at least they do it at Best buy.
It's freaking ANNOYING!
After you struggle getting the plastic wrap off.. you gotta struggle getting those dang things off of the case without ripping anything and just.. ARG! :arg:

Elliotyael - June 20, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
lol i think this was rated as one of the most annoying things to open..
I usually take the cd to a table's edge, with the corner of the cd were the crease is, and drag the cd across the table's edge. it usually works pretty good.
*looks again* woops sorry, its the same thing cfans does lol..
it works ^ ^

but i think they pale in comparisson to the acually cd player plastic cover thingy. i hate those ^ ^;; and i get hurt lots trying to open them.

I usually go straight to the customer service counter after buying a CD/DVD and make them take the plastic wrapping off. :)
