IdolFanIAm - May 20, 2006 03:13 AM (GMT)
i'm listening to it for the first time on my limewire, and i must say i love this version so much better then gavin degraws. it's so amazing. every song he picked had something to do with his life, and i loved how he picked songs that actually meant something to him. he's so amazing, and i look foreward to his up and coming projects.

I loved this as well. I really wish he would have done a Jason Mraz song too.

I was listening to all of his songs, and I noticed that everyone of them related to him...they kind of mirrored his life...He choose great songs..Loved him..

I LOVE E's 'Don't Wanna Be'! I'm a fan of the original so I wasn't used to the arrangement at first, but it only took the second listen to make me fall in love with it! Wasn't that the first performance he became known as the 'funky white boy'? I heard Gavin Degraw loved E's version, which is wicked! :D

i never heard the original, so E's version to me IS the original and its hot!!! everytime i hear that raspy falsetto on EVERYBODAAAAYYYY....i have an eargasm!

I like both versions! Both are equally good to me. :D

I never heard the original either. I feel it can't be better than E's take on it.The more I play his songs the better they get. Is this possible? He makes the song so interesting and fresh.I just love the way he stylizes each song. Love you Elliptt. :thud:

It was soo funky, I became a fan because of this song. Too bad this was his only song in the pimp spot

Yes, I agree. At first I just thought it was my interpretation of his lyrics, but now I believe that Elliott's choices speak to use about him. I love Elliott.

E was my favorite from the very beginning...but that song turned me into a VOTER...2 hours every Tuesday! I like the original song, but E did a very nice job with it. He took full advantage of his only time in the pimp spot and became the FUNKY WHITE BOY! That was one hot performance. :thud:

I love new versions of songs when they work, and this one worked imho! :)
It's one of the tunes that shows that E is much more than an old school crooner.

I'm so into this song....love it! I love the "raspy falsetto" too...so hot! I think I started really voting for him after this performance.

Gavin DeGraws version of IDWB was always "alright" to me. It kinda grated. But after Elliott sung it I found a new respect for it. Though I do love E's version of the song much better than I like DeGraw's.

I think one of the indications that Elliott has a great career ahead of him is the fact that he chooses the right voices for his voice and his passion that comes through his voice. Elliott is not just a "singing head", he is a raw gift with a heart and a mind...a great vocalist had intelligence, ever notice that?
Jlynn206 - May 20, 2006 06:27 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I wish E had done more up-tempo groovy performances like this. He just so makes it his own and it was incredible!

I also think that Elliott's version of the song was much better than Bo's last season. Sooo much hottah!
slimpickin - May 21, 2006 11:25 AM (GMT)
His outfit matched the song to a tee, one of my favs next to Trouble.

I had never heard this song before E's rendition, and when Simon said "hated the arrangement", I thought what is he on about? I absolutely loved it, I didn't realise it may have been different to the original, I thought it was wicked! Someone mentioned that Bo did it last year and that he didn't reach the high note on "everybodeee" So I found his version, and sure enough, he left it to the backing singers to do that bit. Elliott's version is great, and I love listening to it.
lindagt - May 21, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
yeah, I remember Bo doing that last season - this must be the song for the rebels of the competition. I'm glad E got to it before Chris.

Who can even remember an original version of any song Elliott does ?!?!?!
He Elliotticizes each song and makes it his own - all the originals pale in comparison, well maybe except for If I can dream - the King did an amazing job on that but Elliott did him proud with his rendition.

I loved him singing this song because it sounded like he was having so much fun. It was kind of his first real upbeat song he has done. He was dancing....which is funny/cute to see. Plus, he sang it really well....minus the tiny miss on words at the beginning. Last year, this was my favorite song that Bo sang...but when comparing it to Elliott's version....it doesn't even come close.
