Title: Any Mlb Fans?

DawnlikesElliott - June 27, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
So I don't think I saw this topic covered yet....forgive me if I missed it.

Any of you here love watching baseball? I am a huge Detroit Tigers fan. I'm SO happy to see them doing well this year. I think the team is finally strong in almost all the areas they were lacking last year. I'm not sure how they managed to fix that in one summer....but however it happened I'm excited.

Who do you guys cheer for?

I love the Twins! Johan Santana and Torii Hunter are my favorite players. We're the hottest team right now, in fact SI had us on "Who's Hot" in their magazine. :D

I also like the Red Sox a little bit.

Even though there is no team in Hawaii except college, i try to keep up with my hometown team, the Oakland A's. They have a lot of new young talent, so it should be intersting in the next couple of years. My pro team fix comes, once a year the Lakers have pre-season games here, and the NFL Pro Bowl after the Superbowl. I only get select televised games. I guess I could get direct TV or other something.

I agree. The Twins have been doing well the last couple of weeks. How many have they won in the last two weeks? They are going to be a team the Tigers need to watch out for. If they keep winning they could creep up on both the Tigers and the White Sox and take away the wild card spot.

the Red Sox and the Astros are my favorite teams!! (i'm still in denial about johnny damon...he was my favorite player).

LIFELONG YANKEE FAN HERE. THEY'RE MY FAVORITE TEAM. THE METS ARE PRETTY HOT THIS YEAR. MY HUSBAND AND KIDS HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING BOTH TEAMS THIS YEAR.

Hey, a baseball thread, Yippee! We are lovin' the Mariners here some rain or come shine with the San Diego Padres and San Fran Giants coming in a close second.

HOWEVER, our BIG baseball news around here this week is that our OREGON STATE BEAVERS just won the college World Series. They survived SIX sudden death elimination games to make the finals and then were down one game to come back from 5-) to take the second game and then win the third. It was great baseball like you haven't seen in a while...no prima donnas just making the turn at second with style!!! Love those double plays. And, the pitching was good, too.

How do you know a baseball lover? Because they love a pitchers duel...my favorite kind of game!

My favorite manager of all time is Earl Weaver of the Baltimore Oriels who used to be the best team in baseball. He said nothing beats a three run homer!

Anybody have a favorite play, manager, game or player?

Ichi all the way!!!

Ivan Rodriguez was always my favorite player when he was with the Tx Rangers, though Nolan Ryan will always always be my favorite of all time.

I'm bias to the Detroit Tigers so my favorite player is Mike Maroth....but it could easily be any of the players on the team. Well, any players who are not the big name players (ei: Pudge, Maggs).

My favorite manager is Ozzie. Last year he seemed to have a good relationship with his team. I think that was a big part of why the Sox won the world series.

My least favorite player is Paul Konerko. I have no good reason for that....it has just always been.

I used to love Detroit, haven't followed them in a while. Someone up the chair said they are Twins fans...all American League...think we can FINALLY win the All Star game this year?

Do the Tigers have a new stadium? So many clubs do these days and Tiger Stadium saw a lot of really great baseball moments.

THE LATE THURMAN MUNSON OF THE NEW YORK YANKEES WAS ONE OF MY VERY FAVORITE PLAYERS OF ALL TIME. I REMEMBER CRYING WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN A PLANE CRASH BACK IN AUGUST OF '79. TRUELY A ONE OF A KIND PLAYER AND ALL AROUND CLASSY GUY.

I remember that too! Those were the good old days of baseball. He was a great player. It was a privilege to have seen him...and I am not even a Yankees fan. In those days Oriels all the way!

I am a longtime Yankees and Mets fan. I can't choose sides, I'm a fan of both teams. The 2000 World Series was tough, as are the interleague series twice a year. It's hard watching Yankees games/highlights and not seeing Tino at first base. :(

I also like many other players like Ken Griffey, Jr., Vlad Guerrero, Frank Thomas, Ivan Rodriguez, etc.

I miss seeing the Yankees and Mets on a daily basis and listening to WFAN. It's so strange watching the out-of-town broadcasts of their games. I miss the Yankees and Mets commentators -- some of them, anyway. :)

So, where did you move to? I loe your Prince pic by the way. Prince is a personal fav of mine. His talent knows no bounds except his own personal ones.

I got to see Nolan Ryan pitch his record setting no-hitter against the A's. I saved the ticket!

It's sad to see what became of the bash brothers as they were known in Oakland. I don't think they are friends anymore...(Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire)

I think Reggie Jackson was my favorite A's player, then Rickey Henderson.
