Title: Anyone Else Love The Dave Matthews Band?
thecutehippie - June 27, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Just curious...they're one of my top three favorite bands of all time. I have all their albums. I think they're definitely one of the most talented bands around. And from what I've read and heard, Dave is a beautiful soul like our E.

Is this a trick question??? :D

hehe...he's the one man (besides E) who can put me in a good mood no matter how terrible my day has been.

Dave is the end all be all for me. I'm off to see them this weekend at Alpine. I'm so so excited! I'm loving the return of some songs too like Big Eyed Fish and Raven. They soundchecked The Last Stop today too so I'd put money on it showing up at Alpine! wooohooooo

oh wow that's awesome! you'll have to tell me about it next week! no matter how many concerts i go to, DMB will always be my favorite live act.

^ Oh yeah, nobody even comes close. 25 shows and it never feels like I see enough. Like right now, I'm mad that we are 16 shows in for the summer and I've only been to 2!

Dave's got an amazing voice. I've always enjoyed listening to DMB but sadly I think I only own one of their albums, Under The Table And Dreaming. I'm putting itnues and Rhapsody to use though. Cristina, you mentioned something about a live cd or dvd on IDF that I should check out...what was it again?
yamingirl - June 27, 2006 11:46 PM (GMT)
Oh gosh, it's hard to tell. If I would recommend one over any other, I'd for sure tell you to pick up the Central Park release, followed by the Red Rocks one.
Hell take a look at all the live audio/dvd shows I trade.

Crash into me----great love song, don't you think?????
pilatesmom - June 28, 2006 01:15 AM (GMT)
we should all email DMB and asked them if they can do a joint production with Elliott. How hot would that be??

Not to damper your mood here but Elliott and DMB have nothing in common musically. I don't see that ever happening.
As for Crash, I'll simply say at shows it's my bathroom break song. :)

He/they are the only concert my nephew ever goes to. He's crazy for DMB

Oh yeah Elliott, I think, would chime wonderfully with the beat ful sounds and rhthyms of DMB.
Listen to Crash again, great song for you know what. it's quite sensual.

Crash....sensual? You do know that is a song about a boy's obsessive fantasies about a girl, a peeping tom. That's the least sensual thing I can think of.
And I'm sorry, I love Elliott and I love DMB but they have nothing in common musically. Elliott is R&B/Jazz and DMB is Rock. There's just no way it would happen.

I think DMB music is categorized as rock but i've always felt that they play more adult contemporary-ish / alternative music. I'm just trying to imagine Elliott singing one of their songs. I think he could pull off #41 and yeah, Crash into me I guess (I do understand though why Yamingirl considers Crash into me her bathroom break song :) )
xtn4e - June 28, 2006 12:18 PM (GMT)
I mean, some of my friends who are huge DMB friends prefer a lot of other DMB songs. So do I actually.
I was in San Francisco once, and DMB were apparently having a concert there at the time I was there but I didn't realize it til too late so I wasn't able to head to the concert arena to buy scalped tickets and watch the concert.

There's a difference between Elliott having the capabilities to "pull off" a DMB song. We know he can do that. Hell, he pulled off a country song! That wasn't the point here. It's would they jive together and I still have to say no. DMB live especially, no. They are full jam band live.
And yeah, Crash. blech. I pretty much don't like any of their radio songs with the exception of Ants. You want a beautiful love song by Dave, listen to his solo stuff. So Damn Lucky and Oh are two great examples. Hell, even Crush is a much better love song than Crash, IMO.

I actually saw them last year in SF, it was a great show. No matter how many I see, it's never enough. The live experience will make someone never care to listen to the studio recordings again.

What, you don't like hearing "hike up your skirt a little more and show the world to me" or is it "show it all to me?" or well I think he sings it differently everytime hehehe

He changes his lyrics alot but no, that has nothing to do with why I don't like the song. I just think it's sub par. Especially when compared to really great songs in their catalog like Typical Situation or You Never Know.

I took my daughters to see the movie WINN-DIXIE and Dave is the pet store owner the little girl befriends. He is very sweet in the role and he plays and sings and sounds awesome. It's kinda a kids movie, but cute.
