I am editing my original post because this seems to be evolving into a FAN GROUP project...we are more than one or two sites...we are fans of Elliott Yamin. I was trying to come up with some sort of combo fan group name just for fun. I love the name Doxie came up with YaminETrainions...I was thinking it could be something to represent the idea that we are all in this together. But what? Another scrapbook? Help me here idea people...before I pull out all my hair!

I am sure OOsh that Lise would entertain other name ideas if all does not like it.

What about a name that doesn't distinguish either group? Because no matter which board we frequent, it's just the board we frequent, many of us both. But we are all his fans, just like we're fans who live in different states, different countries. The project could certainly, and should, indicate that it's a joint effort, but that when it comes to our respect for him, that knows no boundaries or borders. Because first and foremost we're fans. LOL when i used YaminEtrainion it was making light on the Yaminion/Etrain poll. I agree as a project name is rather bulky!

I kind of also like the idea of a whole new name altogether ... that xsaporated suggested.

Perhaps this is just too simple, but I would suggest that all Elliott fans, no matter what their board "affiliation" agree to put information about the Elliott Banner Project, front and center on their websites.

From what I can gather, there are banner captains from all of the main boards who have volunteered. But the information on where they'll be located, who they are and what time the banner will be available for signing, varies by concert date.

Last week, the banner captain for Richmond, VA graciously agreed to post information here on etrainstation so that all fans might have the opportunity to sign the banner.

If etrainstation members will also post the who, what and where information on Yaminions and Yaminmachine, that would limit the number of "projects" with the side benefit of improved communication amongst fan boards.

If someone from Yaminions and YaminMachine, would be kind enough to post where the banner captain information should be posted, that would be a good start.

Any other Yaminions or YaminMachine members can feel free to go to the Date/Venue thread under the Concert Forum, and introduce yourselves as the banner captain for your tour date/city.

First off, who is this for? Second, Yaminetrainion is too long. It should be something fresh like Eon (E[train]/Yamini[on]).

I agree bluebomb that yaminetrainion is way too long for a project name. I was making a funny on another thread when i said that! Eon is pretty cooL!

Not 100% sure. I think Lise is thinking about a project to make something for Elliott....i am sure as soon as she sees this she will let us know.

Wow...some great ideas. I really just wanted to get people brainstorming. I like the idea of agreeing to promote the banner project across the board at all Elliott fan sites. I realized too that the Banner project really is a gift for Elliott from all his fans, E-fans...whether it be Yamin Machine, Yaminions, E-Train, whatever...the banner project was only born here, but it is universal. That is a true "joint project" among all the fans.

I also want to add that I like the name Yamin-train. I LOVE the idea of a photo mosaic. I saw that someone over at Yaminions (Kelliott I think) suggested a photo mosaic and they might already be working on that, but I am not sure. Really I love this idea.

(Also...I heard that Felisha the banner project coordinator may be going to BOTH the DC concert and the Richmond concert. In fact, I am looking for a ticket for her for the DC concert if anyone knows of any. I predict that the Banner project is going to be HUGE.)

What about Team Yamin? I've heard that somewhere, not sure if it's an official site or anything...but it could be used as a combination of Yaminions, E-train, and Yamin Machine...because we're all behind Elliott 100%.

Well, I made a quick mosaic using 14 Elliott images redundantly. I only have 14 Elliott photos, sad, sad. Click on the thumbnail and the full sized image will display. Save onto your comp and open with an image viewer so you can zoom in/out. With more images used, the quality gets better. Also, to get a better match, there might be "filler" photos needed, like a collection of Elliott photos. It's not interactive as American Idol's mosaic, but I suppose there can be a workaround for that. The thing to decide is how the mosaic is going to be presented.

If you want a mosaic, I can make one, but someone else should coordinate collecting all prepared images and send them to me. Photos need to be a 4:3 aspect ratio, pre-cropped, overlayed with a short message if you want (the biggest zoom isn't that big in order to keep filesize low). Keeping the same aspect ratio avoids distortion. As you can see in this sample I have, the photos are distorted, cause they are all different sizes. I can tweak the largest zoom, so each cell is clear.

If this is already an ongoing project at Yaminions, kindly contact them to make sure we preclude any possible issues.

We could all be the Yatrain or Yatrainers.

We could do a mosaic of just Elliott. Not us. It would be a journey project. We could get pics from his mom and friends. We could do it as a DVD with mosaics of his early life. Interviews with friends and family, co-workers. Then we do the AI thing. It would be pretty ambitious project to say the least.

fabb what software are you using? Have you checked out fxfoto? You can do text scroll and movies with it. It's not too expensive. About $60 for the top of the line.

I can't (or won't...lol) use fxfoto cause I use a Mac 99% of the time. But yes, there are many programs out there! For this test, I used one that interfaced with Google as image source (I didn't end up using their photos though). The video cells sound great! Mosaics are not tough to do - so anyone who wants to do the project, please feel free to take it from me!

This is a great idea...something for everyone to enjoy.

Projects almost always include pics of the artist, which I have no doubt are appreciated, but how cool for an artist to be able to put FACES to some of his fans! I think Elliott would be enjoy that, considering he KNOWS what HE looks like! :wub:

You know if we wanted to put a collage of fans we could do something at the end. It could have fans of young ages, middle ages, then young adults, then us oldies. Then it could be collaged all together with some saying like, "All ages in all stages of life love Elliott. We are all ---------" What ever name we choose.

Linda suggested a mosaic of fan pics, perhaps the fan pics could merge into a picture of Elliott? Perhaps the mods @ both sites (& even Claudette?) could offer 5 pics(or less/more) of Elliott for us to vote on? That would be wild.....

And fabb, your offer to create the mosaic sounds great....especially based on what you did with only 14 pictures!! :thumbsup:

Seriously, it's automatic...lol. The only "manual" tweaking I foresee is if we have to separate fan pics from E's journey pics (this is hairy, but do-able). Also, if say - we have a contest and the winner/s land on the prime spot of Elliott's lips, then I'll have to manually insert the image/s in those cells. The hardest part is collecting the pics. Make sure his Footlocker boss, family and friends and everyone else who owns a piece of his heart is in it.

As far as I can see, no one has expressed interest over at the Yaminion site, so it looks like it will be an E-train project after all.

Fair enough...I thought there was a similar project going on there and didn't want to step on toes...but I think this is evolving into a Fan Group project regardless...meaning there are other fan sites than just E-train and Yaminions...we are a fan group not just one or two sites...Maybe we should do both types of photo mosaics?
