Hi again! I have a quick question for you...

My dad asked me what the origin of the name "E-Train" was; I couldn't answer...do any of you guys know? Thanks! :)

As I remember it, way back on the American Idol boards (early March), we were all discussing what to call ourselves, and a wonderful lady named JasmineB suggested the "ETRAIN". The rest is history.

cath is correct. we were all discussing what to call the fan group. lots of suggestions were pouring in and JasmineB suggested E-Train and it kinda caught on. we also liked it in that it can adapt itself to all other fan group names the others chose to identify themselves with (i.e. yaminions on the E-train, yaminoys on the E-train, yaminiacs on the E-train, etc. etc.)

and the rest, as cath said, is history. :)

I created the Elliott Yamin Fans..Unite! thread on the AI boards back when the AI boards started. I did this for 2 reasons: 1) Elliott was my friend 2) No one knew who he was because he was lost in a sea of posts about Idols that had gotten a lot of face time. I spent many hours/days posting on that thread. Some people starting catching on, including many of the mods on this board (ex. Loth, Lise, and CathleenSusan) After Elliott started showing America he was the real deal, the United thread started to become a monster. The fans wanted a name for themselves. Because of my involvement starting the main Elliott fan thread, it was suggested that I decide on the name. I still am not sure who suggested E-Train (it may have been JasmineB as pointed out by CathleenSusan) but I know it was tossed in with many other suggestions. Elliott's girlfriend liked E-Train because Elliott had always been called E (short for E-Double). I liked the train part because of the idea that everyone was "climbing on board". Around this time also, a motto was suggested that I loved "Vote Like Yamin It" (I forget who suggested that). After much debate about a fan name, I posted in a thread... We are the E-Train and our motto is "Vote Like Yamin It!”. It just kind of stuck after that. Some of that history is found on my AI profile. There is a link in my sig.

Aw, I wish I had been a part of the official boards back then. A couple friends created "Team Elliott" at myspace and I only posted in the AI/Elliott groups until late April when I joined the idolforums. I first read "Vote Like Yamin It" in an article. I think it may have been written by Michael Slezak but I'm not sure. As soon as I read that I put it in my screen name at myspace and it quickly spread like wild fire.

No matter what fan group name we went by though, "Take The E-Train" caught on everywhere. I'm so glad it evolved into this site.

Yes we all owe Brandon our thanks for creating that wonderful thread. I met so many good friends there. I remember spending 12-14 hours a day on the AI boards trying my best to keep Brandon's Unite thread on page 1. It was crazy! This was well before Elliott had his own folder and it took less than a minute for the Unite thread to fall back to page 4 or 5. It was so bad that many of us took shifts so that all day, every day, the thread would stay on page 1 and not be lost.

It is weird because it feels like all of this happened ages ago when in fact, it was only 4 or 5 months ago.

We decided to call it the E-TRAIN because Elliott was and is going on a trip of his life and this is the vehicle will help him get there and we all are the passengers on it just for a fun ride along with ELLIOTT!

I met a woman in Richmond who said she was the original "E-Train" because that was her first screen name! She had blonde hair...we were talking in front of the band stand before Elliott sang "Home." Hey original E-Train if you are out there...please give us a holler! I can't remember your real name!

I personally didn't like the name E-Train at first. I thought it sounded sort of juvenile. Then I thought of the story about "The Little Engine Who Could" (I think I can I think I can, I know I can, etc...) suddenly the name was magic for me! And all because of a "juvenile" children's story! But that little story was always one of my favorites. There is a lot of truth in that story.

I am editing this to add that all fans are equally valued and vital, whether they just joined today or started posting months ago. "New blood" is always necessary for any group to continue! But it is fun to tell the "old" Idol war stories to the "younguns!"

I was a lurker on AI boards then. I lurked around a lot of Idol/Elliott Baords but became a power poster on Etrain LOL. But i have tidbits of knowledge from having been around awhile!!!!

Hehe, you are the exact opposite of me! I was a power poster on the AI boards. I think I got up to 9300 posts in just under 3 months. For some reason I became a total lurker on the Etrain for the first month. Barely posted at all. Now I am at a happy medium.

I climbed on at the end of March - 'the little engine that could'. Great memories of passionate posts, downright arguments (I've never forgotten you tumbleweed) after one lengthy debate where many of us became involved and the Willpower for Elliott to do well. Ah the memories :yes:

I was a late bloomer who came on board after the competition was over. I was so bummed when Elliott was voted off and needed somewhere to be with like minded fans. I never knew the origin of the ETrain until reading this. Elliott has good friends. I don't post a lot but read what's going on every day and enjoy it so much. :)

I hopped on after Melissa was booted off. My votes were split between Bucky and Elliott, then when Bucky was kicked off, I dedicated myself to E.


I used to be WestCoastCovies. Remember I started the thread in the Season 5 folder "who else wants Bucky and Elliott as the final 2?" it was a long shot dream, but I thought they were the most talented of the guys, and also the underdogs.

I loved it the first time I heard it, and it fit like a glove.

I will now admit to starting the threads entitled Elliott is White Chocolate and Elliott's Talking Jeans...I bet you didn't know all of Elliott's clothes had their own thread, no pun intended.

I was a lurker back in those days. I remember it, but posted only here and there.

I did not become a power AI poster until about April I guess it was. I started out on Idol Forums but it was kind of dull because there was not much traffic so i then found the main AI Boards. Then i got a PM to join the Etrain on May 18th. I came over and lurked the first week, registered the second. So i've been here since the start just took my time on registering. I was so used to the format of AI i wanted to check it out before registering. I loved it and the rest is history!

Sk8888 why am I thinking it was you who sent me the PM with the ETRAIN Link? I think it was....we were PM'ing about something at the time I think you are the one who sent it to me but not 100% sure. I was not Doxiechick at that time. You remember I am sure my several name changes when i first came here! I started as Yamingal and was told i had to change it. I did not even realize at that time that Yamingirl was on this board.

Whatever happened to Yamingirl, but the way. Haven't seen her on here in ages!! Wasn't she a mod?

I understand that Yamingirl had to back off and concentrate on her job. She is still doing some design work for E-train, from what I am told, but won't be moderating anymore.

I 'discovered' the AI Boards late March - after I caught the AI bug and felt I needed more than just the two weekly shows. I remember the Unite! thread and the Talking jeans :lol: and was loving the AI boards. I'd never done such a thing in my life... never joined a fan 'club' of any kind and never posted on any boards online for anything!
Then someone posted something about the new E-Train, and I also got a PM about it - so I joined. At first I couldn't get into it (the E-Train) - I felt more "at home" on the AI Boards, but when the Israeli fan thread was started by Ract and she invited me to post on it, I boarded the E-Train again and am loving it!
Thanks to Brandon for being such a wonderful, true friend to Elliott and putting his name out there when many of us had only just discovered him and to everyone who has worked so hard and so long to give all of us E-Fans a home and a place where we can share our love and admiration for Elliott!
I've also come to know some really wonderful people who I'd never have known, if not for these boards!

Question to Brandon: Where did the name "E-Double" come from. Is it because his name is spelt E- Double L -I-O- Double T?? Or some completely different reason?Just curious.

OH! OH! I know this one! E-double is because of his "two first names;" Efraym Elliott Yamin = E. E. Yamin = E-double Yamin! Ta-dum!

When I started lurking on the AI boards there was already an Elliott folder. While lurking I kept seeing the "come join us" posts about the Etrain site, so I finally decided to check it out. I'm glad I did! :D

I don't understand. Did you actually have to petition for an Elliott folder? Did ALL the other contestants already have a folder EXCEPT for Elliott? Was he being dissed and ignored yet AGAIN? :angry: :angry:

There was already an Elliott folder when I joined, so I know nothing about what went on before! :no:

Great to hear how this all began. I was always wondering where the slogans came from.

I wasted a lot of time in the beginning on the AOL message boards. When they got too childish and mean, I found the AI board. (this being the first year I was so wrapped up in one particular beautiful voice).

By then there was an E thread. I hated when posts would disappear. Decent ones. Then I jumped on the invite to this board and have been here ever since.

Thanks all for keeping this going... it's my special retreat.

LOL NO! No petition for a folder! They mean that they posted on the main AI forum BEFORE the contestants were narrowed down enough to warrant their own Folders. I think it was when it got down to Top 12 that the individual group folders were created...i think.
