Yamin, the goateed 27-year-old from Richmond, Va., gracefully acknowledged his defeat after learning his fate from "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest while many in the studio audience gasped in disbelief.
"I'm very proud and I'm honored," said Yamin, whose fan base calls itself the "E train." "I am truly blessed to take advantage of this opportunity." He then gestured to his mother and brother, both of whom were in the Fox show's studio audience in Hollywood.
"Most artists don't ever get to experience this," he said. "I'm so blessed to be able to experience this with [my mother] and my brother."
