Title: It's Saturday Night......
Description: Live
SoulMusicRocks - July 28, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone, I would like to start a discussion on some of your favorite cast members/skits that have been on NBC's sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. For me, I really miss the cast members from the 90's: Will Ferrel, Ana Gasteyer (sp?), Cheri O' Teri, Molly Shannon, Tim Meadows, Chris Katan, and so on. All of those people were absolutely hilarious as well as the original from the 70's and into the 80's. Although I laugh occasionally at the new material, it seems like SNL lost that special spunk it had from the 70's through the 90's, you know? Here were some of my favorites:
Gilda Radner: "The Judy Miller Show".
Will Ferrel and Cheri O' Teri: "The Spartan Cheerleaders"
Molly Shannon: "Mary Katharine Gallagher"
Tim Meadows: "The Ladies Man"
Bill Murray and Gilda Radner: "Nerd in Love"
Chris Katan: "Mr. Peepers"
And a bunch of other skits/characters that were on the show with regularity. Which were your favorite characters, quotes, and scenes from SNL over the years?

:rotfl: :rotfl: I love Will Ferrell! He actually made that show funny. It's not as funny now that he's gone. All the other stars too. Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley (RIP), Dan Ackroyd, Mike Myers (<3), Adam Sandler, etc.
My favorites were with Mike Myers.
I also love that quote that Alec Baldwin says, I kinda forget some of it, but he says to a woman, "...you ignorant slut." :rotfl:
And I love Mike Myers' Middle Aged Man skit.
"If your father was middle aged man, what is he now?"
"Dead man!"
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Will Ferrell in Celebrity Jeopardy
Chris Kattan as MANGO!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Tracy Morgan as Brian Fellows in "Brian Fellows Safari Planet"
Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri as the Spartan Cheerleaders were the bomb!
from now i love Ferecito and his "Ay Dios mio" and "I'm just kidding" haha
Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan as the Roxbury brothers, i dont know if you remember that one episode with Jim Carrey, it was hilarious!
Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch in that sketch were they are from highschool and film their trips and prom! and they call each other retards and start making out haha
i miss them!!
thecutehippie - July 28, 2006 05:27 PM (GMT)
my absolute favorite will always be when Will Ferrell did Robert Goulet!
and i was a huge fan of Brian Fellows...my friends all thought it was the stupidest sketch, but i really loved Tracy Morgan.
i miss Will and Tracy and Jimmy Fallon a lot, but I'd be heartbroken if Horatio Sanz ever leaves...for some reason I love that guy!!
ETA: that Nicky1986 rocks because she understands my love for Brian Fellows Safari Planet!

I forgot that sketch where Molly Shanon and Anna Gastayer are in the radio and they talked about food and they were so weird  and once they had Alec Baldwin and he was talking about wieners and then everybody started laughing so hard haha
EDubsGurl - July 28, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
What's that gay skit with Will Farrell and the host, Sean Hayes?
Will Farrell comes out in a chair and he has a tiny cell phone? :rotfl: :rotfl:
SoulMusicRocks - July 28, 2006 06:34 PM (GMT)
I thought the sketch with Molly Shannon as Sally O'Mally was really funny. She was auditioning as the replacement rockette for the Christmas show in NY with Danny DeVito as the producer. She kept saying "I'm Sally O' Mally, and I AM fifty.....fifty YEARS old" haha.
Another character Shannon played that was funny was a licensed "joyologist" named Hellen Madden. It was a riot. The skit in particular was her being interviewed on this show called "Pretty Living" where she spoke about being a motivational speaker and they bring Matthew Broderick on dressed like he lives in the 60's/70's lol. She kept repeating, "I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!" haha
Gilda Radner as the news correspondent Rosana Dana Ana (?I think that is her name?). She was always a hilarious personality who said what she thought about people and issues of the time.
Chris Farley as the Lunch Lady haha. I remember one sketch where Adam Sandler was singing/playing the guitar for "Songs for the Lunch Lady" with Chris Farley dressed like an old lunch lady and dancing.
I'll write more as I think lol.

There was also a fairly recent one. Does anyone remember the sketch where Lindsay Lohan played Hermione from "Harry Potter". I thought that sketch was absolutely hilarious with Rachel Dratch playing Harry Potter haha.

My husband loses it when Will F. does Harry Carey. I remember when he did a segment on "Weekend Update." It was right after they fired Norm MacDonald and Colin Quinn had taken over the anchor desk. Harry Carey kept calling Colin Norm. He does a great Harry Carey.
My absolute favorite episode is the one when Justin Timberlake hosted.
*Punk'd skit--he was Ashton Kutcher (He's awesome!) --you hear him say "I love Justin Timberlake."
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...d=917400510&n=2
*Newleyweds skit--He was Jessica Simpson wearing that shawl--"I have to take the kids to the pool."
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...d=926269756&n=2
*"Bring it on down to Omletteville!"--need I say more?
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...d=933309027&n=2
*The Sharon Osborne Show--He's Michael Bolton singing to Sharon's dog.
And they saved the best for last!
*The Barry Gibb Talk Show --this was hilarious!!! So dumb and so funny!
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...d=961770383&n=2**I tried to find links for all of them but couldn't. These are worth a second look!"

I love Saturday Night Live too. That's why I wanted to start this thread to see how many skits, quotes, and memories we can remember and continue to add onto.
How about when Molly Shannon imitated Courtney Love? I thought that was pretty hilarious too. The guest on the show was Julie Andrews and they were singing a song from "The Sound of Music" lol.
Also, Cheri O' Teri and Will Ferrel on that morning news show. I think it was called "Morning Latte"? Anyway, they would talk about random things like complaining about the air conditioning not working in the studio lol.
There are so many. Keep on adding to the thread everyone.

oh my, i had forgotten about the More Cowbell sketch!!! thanks yoli!
christopher walken is soo awesome..."i got a fever...and the only prescription...is more cowbell."
i've never been able to listen to "don't fear the reaper" the same way since, lol.
and is it just me, or do you guys love it when they break character and crack each other up. jimmy fallon and horatio were notorious for cracking up in the middle of skit and i loved it!

and of Christopher Walken i remember that sketch where he's in a "continental room" or something and the camera man hand has a pink glove and diamonds and acted like he was the woman in the hotel, that was hilarious!

That's what makes a bad skit good! I don't think Debbie Downer is funny but this one was hilarious because as usual Jimmy and Horatio can keep it in check. This was the first and best "Debbie Downer." Lindsey Lohan tries to keep from laughing but can't.

That is so true. I remember one sketch with Jimmy Fallon, Drew Barrymore, Rachel Dratch, and Will Ferrel that was hilariously funny just for that reason alone. Rachel and Will are playing those odd professors who always expound upon their adventures to strangers lol. And Will Ferrel all of the sudden broke character and started making the other 3 laugh too. It was funny because they speak with this affluent and almost Shakespeare like language haha.

I thought Weekend Update with Amy Pohler and Tina Fey was always pretty funny. Those are one of the skits in the more current SNL episodes that I find funny most of the time. How about when they had someone impersonate Taylor Hicks? lol. That was pretty hilarious.
