i do know that they are a good time. (best way to fight insomnia.. or perpetuate but makes it less lonely)

Avatar is the picture, or smiley, or heart you see to the left of the screen by someones screen name.

Bump is a term on message boards that means to bring it to the top of the topics on the page.

don't worry...I still have not managed to get myself an aviator, so you are one step ahead of me. I fell like a complete idiot when all these people have sweet banners and I can't even get a thumbnail pic of Elliott attached.

I've tried to add an image signature and can't seem to figure it out. I follow the prompts and I can manage to get the hyperlink in the signature box. But how do you get the actual image in?

I second that. I did have an avatar, but it was too large so I was asked to make it smaller,anyway I tried and it didn't work. I give up, I'll just wait til one of my kids can help me. I'm sure some 5 year old could show me how, I'm just too embarassed to ask :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I remember when I had no idea what "lol" meant as well. I was angry because everyone kept saying it in chatrooms. That was a long time ago. :D

OK, here goes... my 5th attempt to do this and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.

I'm so thankful to read all these postings and find out I'm not the only novice out there. In fact it would be very interesting to find out just how many of us Elliott has forced into the world of blogs, googling and avatars. I even googled "avatar" to see if I could figure out what it was - talk about feeling like a dork! Try it and you'll be amazed at what comes up - all sorts of references to Hindu gods.

Think I'll have another attempt right now, then I really MUST do something else with my life. Got to write a real letter to my Mum in the UK. At the age of 75 she doesn't have a computer.

But this is my first experience with message boards and it took awhile for me to figure out how to do everything. And I found a nice person to make a banner for me because I can't do it myself! Don't worry, guys, you'll get the hang of it! We're all in this together!

Okay, see how it is right now? It says [FONT=Optima][COLOR=blue][SIZE=7]

1. Go back to where you set up your sig [CLICK HERE]
2. On the blank window, type in:


Replace "ELLIOTT" with what you want it to say. The "CLOSE ALL TAGS" button works weird for some browsers so it's easier to just type the rest in yourself. You'll see how each tag should have a "partner" or closing tag after your text.

3. Click on Update My Signature.

Do you have an image along with the text or just text?

I have been on message boards since I was 16 years old. it's crazy now. When people don't know what I am talking about I am like "Why don't you know"
Then I think about the fact that I am actually the weird one, because I have spent so many years trolling boards :lol:
