Title: People Ranting
Description: Come vent with me.

Okay if this is a duplicate topic or what not, yall can delete it.
But I walked to a store to drop of my application for my hs diploma internship requirement. And, there was another lady there dropping of an actual job application.
And she was a total evil person. (I would say a curse word but don't want to have to be warned or anything.) First she slammed the door in my face and laughed. Kept shooting me dirty looks, and 'accidentally' bumped into me on her way out. And to top if off, all of the workers didn't see how she acted.
They only saw her be nicey-nice to a customer there, who then in turn told the lady at the counter that she should definitely hire her. While I was standing behind the mean woman. (Who by the way was about 10 years older than me.) I felt so deflated, because the lady was outright mean to me!
And she will probably get the job, and I won't. That's life!! AUGH!!!
Anyone else have any stories like this? Or worse, because I want to justify that, people are always like this, and worse stuff happens. So I shouldn't really sweat it.
I'm so shaklsfhsahslhdklsa. Angry.
CathleenSusan - August 2, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)
My god, Berkana, what was up her butt? I'm so sorry that happened to you. She'll get hers eventually. People like that can't hide their true colors for long.
I have numerous stories that I could post here, but I am so freakin' tired right now that it will have to wait.
LekiliLovesElliott - August 2, 2006 03:22 PM (GMT)
Wow, that woman was rude. What possible reason could she have for doing that to you. She must have had something up her butt that day. :poke:

Berk! thats awful. I hate people.. seriously. There are some people out there that will stop at nothing to make other people feel like crap. They are like school in july.. no class.
I worked as a cashier for 3 years through highschool so I have a million stories. When it comes to peoples money, they get insane! Coupon Nazi's and "price changers" were the worst.
I will share my personal favorite.. It was around Halloween, so we had a bunch of cheesy kids costumes on sale. So this woman, in her late 50's brought up a helmet and said "is this the one for 2 dollars" and kinda through it on the counter.. with so much force that I had to catch it before it fell to the ground. Anyways, I did a price check and it was like 7 bucks or something.. it made artillery sounds and lit up and had other things connected to it (a veil type thing.. i dont know what it's called). Quite fancy actually.
so she gets all mad and starts ranting that it was in the 2 dollar spot and we are too lazy to go straighten the isle.. keeping in mind this was a day or 2 before halloween so everything was picked over like once an hour. she Threw the biggest fit that people working in the back of the store came up front to see if we were ok. I was in complete shock.. since i'd never seen anything like that before.. she was dropping the f bombs left and right.. calling me and my co-workers all kinds of fun names .. OVER A HELMET!!! :poke: .... I want to add that she had 2 kids with her about 7 and 9 years old.
anyways.. she walked back to the costumes while muttering things loud enough for us to hear. about 10 minutes later she comes up to me and looks all embarassed.. I thought she was going to appologize. BUT (and this is the best part) she wanted to know if she could have a plastic bag because she peed her pants! thats right.. SHE PEEDS HER GD PANTS! I still laugh about this story. and I still tell everyone.
what goes around comes around. :rotfl:

how about.. while at work.. one of my co-workers with the same job title BUT has been here longer seems to find it important to look over ALL of my work. Then asks me why I haven't done something yet...
1- none of your business
2- i do things MY WAY... just because I'm not a spazz like you doesn't give you the right to tell me how and what to do.
3- WE HAVE THE SAME JOB. you are no better and i no less. you are not my boss.. get off my crap man.
I'm not saying that I'm the best (I'm pretty good).. BUT dude... how freaking condescending.
*this is going on right now as we speak, as I'm at work.. so I wanted to share with someone. :poke:

Ahhhh... I know lots of people like that! Seems the only way some people have to make themselves "look good" is to try and make you look bad. They can't do it on their own merit.
I think that is kind of the same situation for you, Berkana. That woman was trying to make herself feel superior to you by treating you like that. She probably has very low self esteem and that was the only way she knew how to make herself feel "better than you". You should pity her- that is pretty sad, really.
DJ babblefish - August 3, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
Honestly Berk.. I can't believe she pushed you.. that's the worst part.

Okay here's another cashier story:
I was selling greeting cards and there was a small display right near the check out. And a little girl, maybe 3-4 years old, was picking up one card after the next. The problem was that this little angel had extremely dirty little hands and every card that she touched was ruined. Fingerprints and smears everywhere.
Her mother was not paying any attention, looking the other way. So, in my sweet, talk to a little girl voice, I asked her to please not touch the cards because they would get fingerprints on them. I repeat , I said this in a very pleasant voice and touched the little girl sweetly on the shoulder as I spoke.
Well, mom turns around and lights into me. She screams, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF MY BABY!!!! DON"T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!!!"
And, of course at that point, the other customers in the store all turn around to see who this awful individual might me.
Mom, continues to scream at me saying, "How did I expect anyone to purchase greeting cards when they couldn't even look at them. How could they read the verse," she says, "unless they pick them up? What kind of store is this anyway????"
The woman then proceeds to drag her 3 year old out of the store.
Right. Yeah.

I totally understand what you're saying, Sheila. I have found (but of course often forget) that a lot of these nasty people are actually very sad people who don't know how to deal with life's stresses other than converting it to anger. And I don't mean to sound like a Polyanna, because believe me, these mean and angry people irritate and upset me just as much as the next guy. (And I tend to take them personally, when really, the issue is all THEIRS.) But the first thing I thought of upon reading DJ's story is that the lady probably has chronic bladder problems, and who knows what kinds of other medical issues that she deals with daily... And she simply does not know how to handle life. So what does she do? Take out her sorrows by angrily venting about a $7 helmet on some random clerk at a store.
It is pathetic and sad, first and foremost, because she is directly modeling to her children how one should deal with life. You can bet those 2 kids, who are probably ashamed and embarrassed of Mom now, will one day treat strangers the same way Mom does.
And it is sad because the lady knows she is pathetic. I believe that these angry people, underneath it all, experience a good deal of self-hatred. (Which unfortunately only enforces the cycle of anger.) No matter how much they boss around and control people around them with their fits and tirades.... at the end of the day, they alone live with their terrible behavior, and on some level, they are ashamed.

Okay I gotta gripe about my neighbors. They just don't understand the concept of putting lids on their garbage cans. Birds, Racoons, etc. all have a field day. I have worked SO hard all summer to make our front yard just gorgeous, and every week after the garbage men come by to pick up the trash, I also have to go out and pick up crap off the ground. I'm talking about used toilet paper, chicken bones, rotten Mr. Noodles - stinky, gross, disgusting garbage! Anything disgusting that you can think of, I've had to remove from my yard. GRRRRR.
I got so mad about it yesterday, that I phoned the city and filed a complaint. They said they would send out a site inspector next week so I have my fingers crossed hoping this will solve the problem.

Cathleen,
Hope your complaint works! I have a similiar gripe.
I have a neighbor who is REALLY REALLY into cleaning up the environment. She seperates her paper, plastic, recyclyclable items forom the rest of her trash. She has a container that she keeps on her back porch for these items. Problem is, there is no lid on this conrtainer and when the wind blows, papers, empty plastic bottles and everything else blows all over the neighborhood.
And, does she pick this stuff up? Of course not....
caren - August 5, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
CathleenSusan- BLECH!!!
Sharon- Your neighbor's practices sound really good for the environment!

Ha this stories are kind of funny and kind of sad.
Update though the job never called back. So guess I don't even get to interview for it. Oh well I found something else though.
