is anyone else around here crazy about the Geek in the Pink? Jason's such an amazing performer, whether he's doin small, intimate venues or big ones.

He's such a wonderful songwriter, with his cute, funky hip hop/jam rock style.

anyone else adore him?

Love, love, love Mr. AZ. Sorry, Paula moment. :D

Seriously though, he is so talented and his lyrics are always so catchy and fun. My favorite song is "Life Is Wonderful." He is wonderful. I'd love to see him in concert sometime.

EmJay, "Life is Wonderful" is my favorite Mraz song also! His voice is so beautiful in that one (not that it's not beautiful in every other song he sings).

my favorite line in "Life is Wonderful": "And it takes no time to fall in love,
But it takes you years to know what love is..."

ahhh, that man makes my ears (and eyes, lol) so happy!

EmJay321 - August 4, 2006 07:18 AM (GMT)
Yes, that is a great line! The chorus always get stuck in my head too.

La la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Al la la la la...

It makes me smile.

I love this thread! I LOVE MRAZ!! He is so great. I never get sick of his songs. My favorite song is "On Love, In Sadness". I have never seen him live but I hope to someday.
I don't really even know that much about him. Just that I love his music.
However, I do know that he is from Virginia.. what is it about that place and their wonderful singers?

thecutehippie - August 5, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)
Virginia produces some quality men! lol...jason's from Mechanicsville...on "Song for a Friend" on Mr. A-Z he has one of the school choirs from his hometown singing on the track.

"On Love, In Sadness" is a freakin awesome song....could this boy ever write a song i don't like? i don't think so.

found an awesome link at youtube...this was jason at his absolute best...back in the Java Joe's days when it was just him and Toca jammin' out.

you guys should check out the lovely Virginian doin' his thing:

On Love, In Sadness (Acoustic)

ETA: Jason also doing "Life is Wonderful" live because i know that one's EmJay's favorite...and it's pretty adorable because he kinda gets the giggles towards the beginning. If you can make it past the shaky camera work, it's pretty brilliant. his voice is like silk!

Great videos! Thank you for posting those. It is so funny when he starts laughing and he almost can't keep going with the song. :rotfl: So cute.

Here are some other good videos from Java Joes:

Absolutely Zero

Who Needs Shelter - There's a funny talking part with Toca at the beginning.

thanks so much for posting those EmJay!!

i wanna get the Java Joe's cd soo bad (must pay credit card bill before buying music...must pay credit card bill before buying more....). lol.

that version of "You and I Both" cracks me up SO much. who'da thunk that one man could make polka so cute.

the closest he came to me on tour this summer was Arkansas, which is still quite a drive, so i was pretty bummed for awhile cause i think seeing him live gives someone an even better appreciation for his talents.

i found a really hilarious interview of Jason and Toca in Atlanta on You Tube...you learn the definition of Vocussionist and the spelling of djembe. lol. one of his answers to a question is a little vulgar (though funny nonetheless) so i won't put the link...but if you go to You Tube and search Jason Mraz, Toca Rivera, Boom Boom Percussion interview you can find it!

Thanks so much for your links- Just love Jason, adorable hip funky man.
He and Elliott should work together someday, that would be heavenly

I've never bought an album, though I've loved all the songs I've heard.
And now I'm wondering why I haven't bought an album...

ElliottCat101 - August 14, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
I've only ever heard about 3 of his songs, but they're pretty good.

AshleyPacka - August 14, 2006 09:16 PM (GMT)
I adore Jason, but I really hated his latest album. Pains me to say, but I only liked one song.
