Title: Rants & Raves
Description: Share your joys and frustrations

luvE - May 21, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
Random rant: drivers who don't signal in advance of a left turn. If you know you're going to be making a left turn, show the drivers behind you a little courtesy by signaling before the turn! This would give the drivers behind you a chance to get in the right lane and pass you.

GypsyNFla - May 21, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Ohhhhh, thank you for a thread like this! lol

My rant for today is a loud television when I'm trying to read or type on the computer.

Another one - when you're stuck alone in the bathroom and the toilet paper roll is empty BECAUSE WHOEVER LAST USED IT DIDN'T REPLACE IT. grrrrrrr

Trip56 - May 21, 2006 10:45 PM (GMT)
How about drivers who don't turn their signals off? I hate that! I want to drive up beside them and ask them where they think they're turning!

BluePebbles - May 21, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
My rant is my neighbors dogs that bark NON STOP.

I know. Isn't it distracting! If I'm feeling especially annoyed, I'll get in front of said offenders and keep turning my signal on and off to get their attention. It's worked the few times I've done it.

How about people who don't use the turn signal until they start making their turn!

Remember when David Blaine tried to hold his breath for nine minutes?
All week long, they have been advertising his upcoming feet:

"David Blaine will hold his breath for 9 minutes,...or die trying."

And when it came down to it, he DID NOT hold his breath for 9 minutes (let alone 8), NOR did he die trying. How anti-climactic.

Sunburns! I HATE SUNBURNS!!!! *WAAAAA!*

Ugh I'm extra crispy.

kimberlyann32 - May 22, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
my daily rant is sinuses and allergies.....my allergies have been running wild and i got a sinus headache/cold......so not fun...

Amunet - May 22, 2006 01:09 AM (GMT)
Hmm... My rants....

I HATE loud commercials!! Specially when the tv show is really low volume, so you have to turn your sound up and then you get blasted away by the loud ass commercials.. UUUUGH.

Another...

I can't stand the way my bf's family treats their animals.
They don't abuse them or anything like that, they just don't care.
Like I can't stand watching a dog scratch/chew themselves until they're bald and bleeding... and their dogs do that ALL the time. It drives me up the freakin wall as their dogs just sit there gnawing away at their already scabbed skin and they don't give a crap.
Also, they have this one dog named Honey that got hit by a car last year. Broke both her back legs and her hip bone. Why did she get hit? B/c she's seriously a dumb dog that likes running out in front of cars. The dog has finally gotten better after having metal bars in her legs for months.. and what do they do instead of watching her? You betcha! They let her run free to run out in front of cars all over again!
Bf's sister's toy poodle also bugs the crud out of me. They let this dog do whatever the heck it wants. The dog actually goes and grabs cat turds, brings them up onto the chair (with someone sitting there) & will start eating it and they won't do anything.

And etc etc... there's a buncha other crap I could list about them and the way they treat their pets but I'll stop. They're just so FRUSTRATING!!!
:furious:

cfans - May 22, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
My rant: The loud music that accompanies the majority of TV shows this year. I'm deaf in one ear, and I really have to concentrate to hear what's going on. I know that's what the closed captioning is for, but I don't like using it unless absolutely necessary. But now the music has become so loud, it's almost becoming a necessity to use the CC. I just don't understand why the music has to be so freaking loud. Even on shows like ABC's Home Makeover on Sunday nights. I cannot hear half the dialog because of the music.

Replacements of the week: Garbage disposal and new toilet flush handle.

I had gone to Lincoln Center about a week or two before this event, and they were promoting him...ugh. They started moving us out when we tried to get close. (We chanted, "DAVID! DAVID!"...the kid next to us, also named David, started bowing and thanking everyone...)

On another note, I HATE HOMEWORK. My rant. :P

I am in total agreement with the posters concerning driving rants! :argh: I really do have an acute case of road rage. Driving in the city in rush hour traffic has enabled me to become so good at predicting the stupid things people will do while driving! It's insane!

Okay, rant over now, because I will have enough of that to do tomorrow in the car by myself! LOL

ekgcekgc - May 30, 2006 02:36 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, and one more thing (LOL)
I ABHOR people clipping their nails/toenails onto the floor! (and yes, I have seen it done unfortunately!) EWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Exactly! See if you can tell me why:

1. People don't get in the lane they are supposed to be in until they are right at the exit/split/turnoff/whatever, especially when they saw the sign for it 2 miles back?

2. (As the above posters said) people don't use turn signals, or keep them on incessantly?

3. People don't understand the meaning of "yield to ramp", "merge", or "right of way"?

4. People ride right on your bumper, speed around you when they have the chance, and then get ahead of you just to go slower than you are going? Or try to speed ahead of you and they are about to exit (this usually means if they do speed ahead of you, they will kill you and everyone else to get to the exit that was only 2 seconds ahead)??

Okay, let me stop!

That's totally jacked up! I am truly an animal lover, and I'm with you...I can't stand to see stuff like that! Or the "cat lady" types, who have 50 million animals crammed into one house! UGH! :poke:

Here is a new one.

Rednecks who will get pissed off if you pass and get in front of them, and then will pass you again, and hit the brakes.

I mean who in his right mind hits the brakes on purpose?

Some people would rather cause you an accident than give you a spot in front of them.

My rant:
1. Definitely the driving stuff.
2. People who stop in front of you while walking. They get distracted or start conversing with someone and block doorways, hallways, isles in grocery stores . It especially bothers me when I'm leaving class and someone decides to have a conversation in the doorway. Nevermind that there is a room full of people being held up.

My rant: I CAN'T SLEEP!

My tummy hurts something awful...I am so tempted to call in sick to work tomorrow but there is going to be a lot going on.

Yaminized - May 30, 2006 06:04 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, I don't see many raves here...it's mainly just a rant thread, huh? ;)

Well, it's not really much of a rave, but I went to a Memorial Day party at my parents' today, and our old neighbor was there with one of her adopted kids. I was really glad to see him again. He's 11, but he's intellectually gifted, mature, adorable, and charming. Quite the ladies' man. Everyone just eats him up. One woman there couldn't stop talking to him--it was her first time to meet him, and she was enthralled because he's really an adult in a kid's body. And he's got CP and was abused by his birth parents, which makes it more notable, I think. He's going to be famous one day, and I'll be able to say I knew him.

Oh...that reminds me, I heard a Katharine rumor (this is OT, yeah). Basically, this same neighbor has a daughter who married a guy who's related (I forget how) to John Mayer, and they said that they'd heard Katharine was dating John. *shrugs* I told them about the 41-year-old guy, and they don't know. Maybe it was before Idol.

Rants...I guess my only rant is that I'm not with Elliott right now. :)

Ooooo lordy lord lord that bugs the crap out of me!! I can't stand it when people do that!! It's just plain inconsiderate.

And like someone said earlier... sunburns... actually just hot weather in general.
God I hate hot weather. I'm hot-natured so above 75 degrees and I'm sweating up a storm.
Only thing that's good about a sunburn though is that after the pain and redness goes I'm left with a great tan heh. I try not to go out into the sun though so that's not often.

CathleenSusan - May 30, 2006 06:46 AM (GMT)
Grrrr people (like my mother) who drive very slow in the left (fast) lane! Drives me up the wall!

ROAD RAGE! lol, just kidding

Can't they fly in the forest instead?

TOTALLY.

And another version of that is when you are walking a reasonable distance behind someone, and then they stop to look at something in a store window or whatever, and JUST WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO PASS THEM, they start walking again so that you almost bump into them and they're completely oblivious to the whole thing. :furious:

Ughhh, that bugs me too!

Another thing that makes go hmmmm. Why in the heck do they have to put stuff in the middle of an isle?

I guess they "think" there is no problem getting the cart past all that stuff, but they don't consider when someone stops right before that stuff in the middle and you can't get around them, or have to move your cart to the other side only to run into an oncoming cart! Grrrrr lol
