r any of you mariah fans i love her old stuff im listening to it right now like emotions, fantasy (ect.)... shes got a big voice. i saw her in concert a couple of dayz ago .. she still got it. she voice has changed a lil but shes great!!!

My favorite Mariah song is Always Be My Baby. I also love Anytime You Need A Friend and Music Box.

Oh, and I love her Christmas album. I am a big fan of holiday music and hers is one of my favorites!

The only Mariah I DONT like is when she decided she couldn't make a song without a rapper in it.

I love Miss Mariah! I have so much respect for her talents as a vocalist, writer, and producer. I was so happy that the "Mimi" album was successful and that she won the three Grammys for it, but she really should have won for Album of the Year and Song of the Year as well.

I have too many favorite Mariah songs to name, but my favorite albums are Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi, and Rainbow.

I agree with bbgurl. There are some good songs on the Glitter album. I gave the album another listen after seeing the movie on VH1 a while ago. I listened to the album trying to separate it from the movie and I discovered some new favorite Mariah songs (All My Life, Want You, and Twister).

I can honestly say I love basically every MAriah Carey song she has ever sang. With the exception of some of the MiMi stuff.

I hope Mariah and Elliott do a collaboration in the future. The two of them would probably put on a vocal clinic with their skills. Maybe Randy Jackson can hook something up. :)

I actually really like Mariah's old stuff, like on her debut album, it's really great! Lately though, I agree that her voice has kinda been wasted. She's got an amazing voice, but you wouldn't know it now.

Also. influential doesn't necessarily mean highest-selling. Madonna has done what no other female can do, that is, reinvent herself so that she has been able to last this long. She was the first female artist and performer ever to have control over her image, plus, she is an awesome performer and she writes and co-writes most of her own songs too. You can't top the Queen of Pop. Plus, even though her voice is great, I think Mariah's songs all sound the same, and she's more of a great vocalist than a great "artist".

Never said she was a flop, she's far from one, I just said that she's not as innovative or influential as Madge.
Madonna has influenced everybody from Gwen Stefani to Britney to Christina even Mariah herself a little (not like Mimi was the very first female artist to establish herself as a pop diva, that was Madonna). Who has Mariah influenced........wannabe pop stars who try to hit high notes but just sound screechy (see Katharine McPhee :rotfl: )

I use to think Mariah was the BOMB! I listened to her self-titled album and Daydream endlessly (I also had those 2 in cassette and LP's lol). I kind of like some of her new songs because they are quite catchy and make good additions to my work-out cd's, but they cannot be compared to her earlier stuff.

You really gotta love a singer who is credited with co-writing just about every one of her own songs. I have never been a big fan of singers who spend there entire careers singing songs written by other people.

I meant that I do have Glitter, I just never bought it on Sept. 11th because, well, the reasons are quite obvious. But I do have it.

As for the Mariah vs. Madonna, I don't wanna open up on that can of worms. I don't hate Madonna, she doesn't have best voice but she gets people talking because she knows which buttons to push. And also, I just wanna say that all these artists write songs, but Mariah writes songs that turn into hits. I'll Be There is the only #1 she didn't write.
