Title: My LA Concert Review
Description: I'll try to keep it simple!
yoli68 - August 27, 2006 08:39 AM (GMT)
First off I have to say that I was very upset because when we were in line they said that no glow sticks were allowed. Well I had two necklaces, one barrette, a pair of bunny ears and a small one to wave in my hand (all green glow sticks). And they took them away! I was soo mad especially when I saw that they were selling some overpriced crappy ones in there! So already I was off to a bad start. Then the new pair of batteries for my camera didn't work. So I had to rely on my sister to take pictures of things that I wanted! But on to the show. You all know what they sing etc. So I'm gonna just comment a little bit.
Mandisa--looks great! Good start!
Ace--my new 2nd favorite-since he was the only one I met. Good singing. He wore a Laker jersey over a tank top and at the end of his set threw out his beanie and the Laker jersey--that had some autographs on it--I don't know if they were from basketball players or the Idols. I couldn't tell.
The next two performers were Lisa and then Paris. Sorry Paris fans but I'm gonna dis her. I thought Lisa's set was classy but Paris' was kinda trashy. JMO.
Bucky and Kelly were great too. Loved the duet--I'm a major "Grease" fan.
Intermission
Chris was good but I have to say the strobe light effects that they had going on were making me dizzy! I must be getting old!
Elliott--OH MY GOD! He was awesome! What else is there to say!
Boys-Patience--The crowd went wild with all the hot studs on the stage.
Kat--Honestly not a big deal. I'm sick of that cherry tree song. And her 2nd song "Think" she asked everyone to stand up and pretty much everyone did. But not me. I think I was the only one sitting down in my area. But I didn't care. Whatever, I just wanted her to be done. Especially since she went on and on about how glad she was to be back home. She did get a warm welcome.
Taylor started singing but he wasn't on stage. Then the light shined out in the middle of the section right above the floor seats. He was walking through there. The people that were sitting in that section went crazy. Then he cut right through a row on the floor. Everyone was so excited and giving him high fives. He's not really a favorite of mine but I thought that was pretty cool!
The encores were good. Elliott had on his super Jew shirt. I will post some pix tomorrow cuz right now it's 1:30 am and I'm beat!
Great show! Can't wait to hear how things went for the E-trainers who went to the Viper Room!

There is a post over at MJ's!!!!!!!!!!!!! She spoke to Elliott and asked is he had signed. His response: "Oh yeah, TOTALLY!". She was flustered and forgot to ask who he signed with!

OMG Yolie68! Are we the same person? LOLOL. That was exactly the review I would have given if I posted first.
Mandisa was great. Wonderful voice and I really liked that she addressed and encouraged the youngsters since I had my daughter and niece with me. She has a wonderful voice and I think she's truly beautiful.
Ace's duet with her was great. He is a SHARP DRESSER to be sure and since I met him, he has won me over too. (will post pictures later...I used a 35mm camera, not a digital) I still don't care for his music, but he's a very nice man and I wish him so much success. I thought it was so awesome of him to throw the jersey and beanie out to the audience. I believe it had the idol's signatures on it, but we can't be sure. I'm just thinking, if it were the Lakers' signatures, he wouldn't have tossed it, being a man..lol. He thanked the crowd and told us that he has lived in L.A. for 4 years and loved being back home.
Lisa is soooooo beautiful. She is the definition of classy. She really has a look about her that just sets her apart. She reminded me of Princess Jasmine from Alladin...lol. She sang Signed, Sealed, Delivered beautifully, however I didn't like her arrangment at all for Elton John's This is your Song or the other one she did. Her voice was lovely, but the arrangement was confusing.
Paris came out and I totally agree with you, Yolie. I did not like it. Some of her dance moves reminded me of Pole Dancing. She was bending over her chair, laying across her chair on her back and sticking her chest out, sitting on the chair and opening and closing her legs..it was a bit much and I did not like her hair or clothes at all. She was my least favorite of the night.
Bucky was super sweet when he came out. Some thing about Bucky just makes me laugh. He's always smiling. He did really good on his songs and got a very warm welcome from L.A. He also threw his cowboy hat out into the crowd.
Kellie came out to join him for You're the One that I Want and yep..major Grease fan here...it was too cute (I just went to see Grease outside at the park the night before with the family). Kellie is beautiful and has the warmest personality. The crowd really loved her. She thanked everyone for their votes and support during the AI show.
Intermission..Lots of Text Messages being texted on the screens. My neice texted: Go Kat Go..no Seriously, GO! But they shortened it to GO KAT GO..LOL. Mean, I know, but we couldn't help it. [COLOR=green]So, I'm sitting there, and who walks by? Jamie Paitz, Elliott's girlfriend. She was right next to me and I looked at her...and all of a sudden realized who it was..and I told my sister and she heard us talking and looked at us and walked by. She was wearing a backstage guest pass. She's a pretty girl, but IMO, not model status..unless we're talking Dept. store. She is more "sexy" than pretty, I think. She has a very nice shape and looks like she could be Italian. Her skin is dark and she had really thick, wavy hair. She is only about 5'7" and was dressed in tight blue jeans and a guazy bohemian style blouse that went to her midriff and revealed a tattoo just above the small of her back. I saw her on the way back to her seat afterwards and wanted to get a picture but didn't want to be rude. She saw me again and kept her head down and when she got really near to me she pulled her hair to one side and sorta turned.
Chris was next and he had the loudest cheers out of everyone. The crowd loved him, so he says: I've been working on my CD and how many of you here are going to be back at the Staples when I'm touring on my own?" I thought this was arrogant and an improper time to announce his solo career. I thought it was tacky. Anyway, the crowd cheered. Not me. Then for some odd reason, behind him, while he was singing, we had to watch crotch shots of a woman's (random person) pelvic area in a pair of cut off shorts. It was grinding and moving..and I'm not sure why that strange video accompanied his song.
Elliott was next and started with the Chris/Elliott duet. He was wearing a Laker's jersey with Johnson on the back and I was happy for him because I know how much he loves the Lakers. He wore his "hide the hair" cap again. GRRR...
He sang his Never too Much...Moody's Mood (Where are my ladies?...HUGE CHEER)....and Trouble. He's hotter in person...I think he looked gorgeous on the big screen. My sister got an awesome picture of him with both his biceps flexed (will post later). I wanted so much more of Elliott. His voice is amazing and even better live. Just so soothing... (on a side note...while in line for 5 hours to try to catch a glimpse of E, I am surrounded by 85% Elliott fans..1 Kat fan, and the rest Chris/Taylor...so how did Kat come in 2nd?)
Patience...Huge cheers again. I felt bad that Bucky didn't get as many as the others, but overall, the crowd loved it.
Kat..blah..Somewhere over the Rainbow, Cherry Tree, Think..."I'm so glad to be in my hometown" (LIAR!!!! She drove up while her HOMETOWN was outside in the hot sun for over 5 hours and she pulled right up next to us in a black excursion. She saw us...and what did she do? She rolled the electric window down with her freshly manicured finger..for 1 second....waved and directly rolled it back up! We never even got a "hello") I have to be honest and say that vocally, she was good, but funny story about the glow sticks. Yolie got her green sticks confiscated, but they were walking around passing out FREE orange glow sticks to the people in line (thousands of them) but even after offering FREE ORANGE STICKS I only saw about 300 lit up in the audience. Not a lot of people were taking those orange glow sticks...No "Destiny" for Kat. She is a pretty girl. Wore her black dress. Yolie, I didn't stand up when she asked us to either. I just wanted her to finish.
Taylor emerges from the side and he is handsome. He starts singing a song I didn't know and I have to say, when he doesn't sing a familiar song and all he is relying on is vocals, he's not that great (sorry Taylor fans). The only time I really heard him get applause and cheers was when he was doing funny dance moves. The dance moves are what people are responding to with Taylor. During Do I Make You Proud they showed video of him from the show and the crowd cheered loudly and the band really GOT LOUD and I was wondering if it was to drown out the song. You almost couldn't hear Taylor the band was so lound--so bathroom break for me. He did Taking it to the Streets, which is a familiar song to me, so I enjoyed that.
We are the Champions started and got to see my sweetie Elliott again. I wish so much I could have met him and got a picture with him...so sad. He did look adorable in his Super Jew shirt and I wished so bad I could have gone to the Viper Room but I had the kids with me..Paris looked horrible again with giant pig tails and a white and black polka dotted dress.
So that was my concert. Chris was the favorite of the crowd with Elliott/Taylor second..then it seemed like Ace (the teenagers), Kellie, Bucky, and the others.
The venue was huge. I felt bad for those who were at the very top. I had a great time..not enough of Elliott in my opinion though.
By the way, Yolie..it was nice to meet you and I enjoyed baking in the sun with you. We're still undecided if we're driving to Anaheim. I just woke up and my legs were stiff from standing up for the 5 hours...lol

Hey, it was great seeing all of you there yesterday at Staple's Center.
Great show! Loved all the clothes everyone sported, the jewelry, the bands...it was great. I have ideas for next season and I hope to be the best dressed. LoL!
I was very disappointed that Elliott Yamin did not come out to greet us. I was actually devestated!
It was hot and people were getting upset :poke: so he could have at least come out to say HELLO for all our efforts.
Look forward to seeing you next season at our next AI concert here in L.A.
Until then,
:rocker:
Elliott Yamin fan until the end :allaboard:

I was at the L.A. concert too! I'll just post a few things.
~ I waited out by the busses. I got there around 3, and was informed that I had already missed Paris, Ace, and Lisa signing autographs. But then about 20 minutes later, Ace came out for a second time to see if there was anyone there that hadn't been there before! It was so sweet! We got to talk to him for quite a while and he was such a sweetheart! After meeting him in SD and then LA I can say for sure that Ace is one of the sweetest people in the world! All three of the Idols I met were just dolls!
~ I felt very bad for the Katharine fans. They had purchased 10,000 glowsticks to give Kat a good welcome home, but around 8,000 of them were confiscated! It made me really sad for them! I don't like Kat very much at all, but still they put in a lot of hard work and money to do that for her and I was sad security stopped them! Only around 2,000 made it in..
~ When I was walking to my seat, there was a group of people in the isle blocking my way. I said "Excuse me." No one moved. I said "excuse me" again. Again, no one moved. The next time I said it I tapped someone on the shoulder. STILL NO ONE MOVED! At that point I got really annoyed and said (not very nicely) "Excuse me! Would You Move??!!" At that they all stopped and looked at me and said "sorry" and moved. As I was walking by them my friend says to me "Did you see who that was?" and I said "no.. who was it?" And she tells me.. It was Mrs. McPhee! I was rude to Mrs.McPhee and didn't even realized it! :P
~ I thought Taylor did A LOT better in LA than he did in SD. He seemed to be in a happier mood and much more into the music!
~ I thought Elliott was sweating less in LA... Is that weird? Or is it weirder that I noticed? LOL.. Maybe it's because the Padres jersey was a lot heavier than the Lakers jersey. Either way, he sang wonderfully both nights.
~I missed a lot of Lisa, Paris, and Kellie because of various reasons (many of them involving security gaurds and the crowds around me).
~ Ace's jersey was signed by all the Idols

Sounds more like Peisha was rude to you. Glad you got to see two in a row - that must have been awesome.

I'm pretty tired too. I was so hyped from the concert that I didn't end up going to sleep until about 3:30 AM! I posted the pre-show pictures with my fellow e-trainers (including you!) and Ace at this link. Go check it out if you haven't yet!

I had a great time at this concert too. I enjoyed hanging out in the hot sun with yoli, catielyn, VotedElliott2hours, and the rest of the fans. My hands and a little bit of my face are sunburned though.
I got Ace's autograph, he was the sweetest guy.
I enjoyed the concert. They're were all good. But Elliott was AMAZING. Oh, I screamed so loud when he came out. I was so happy to see him live.
After the concert, I saw Elliott walking up the ramp toward this car. I shouted: "Elliott!!". He didn't look back, but he waved. :D I didn't get to meet him though.
