Title: I Was Overcome With Sadness!!!

catielyn - August 28, 2006 05:23 AM (GMT)
It didn't hit me until today, but this morning I woke up so depressed and sad and I know it's because I didn't get to meet Elliott yesterday. I feel stupid for feeling this way but I haven't been able to shake it all day. I was so looking forward to meeting him and NOTHING...not even a sighting..and my FLOOR seats which I thought would be great were so hard to see from. I'm only 5'2" and everyone was standing up and I couldn't see anything. I had to watch the screens the whole time.

I enjoyed the music and loved hearing Elliott live, but I so much wanted to get a picture with him.

It seems like he came out to greet fans at every other venue except Los Angeles and I'm so disappointed that I can't stand it.

Just wanted to vent. Going to bed now.

Good night.

Don't worry, he's gonna go on like 23 more tours in the next 40 years, I'm sure you'll catch him at some point.

:( I completely understand how you feel!! Even though I had looked forward to the concert for soooo long, and as awesome as it was...a big part of me feels very disappointed with everything!

I guess I got so sure that I was going to be able to meet Elliott and REALLY needed to tell him how his music makes me feel, plus after hearing about everyone's amazing encounters with him...and then to get NOTHING! I feel so angry that things did not go as planned and now all I 'm left with is this empty, incompleteness.

You are definitely not alone!!!! :grouphug:

Don't worry, myman, this sort of thing happens in life, every time you're looking forward to something very, very much for a very long time, and then, suddenly, it's over. There's a vacuum where there was once anticipation. You'll spring back, you just need a bit of time and something else to look forward to!

As for meeting Elliott, it's true you weren't one of the lucky ones, but just think what mayhem there would be if EVERYONE who wanted to meet their idols were able to do it!

You're right Sherwood. I revel in the fact that someone like Ract came all the way from Israel and was able to meet him. After sitting in bomb shelters and listening to his voice to calm her, I think it was soooo appropriate for her to be able to meet him. Yes, I voted for two hours, yes I'm involved in other things. Yes, I would like to meet him, but my joy is seeing someone like Ract being able to meet him when at such a deep level a need was met by his music in such a critical time.

You're right, mayhem would be the word.

:goodpost: I was in Richmond. Of course, I would have loved to have met Elliott but what I, and the group I hung out with, wanted more than anything was for Amandarhea to meet Elliott. We were all so happy for her when that happened. I did get to meet Claudette, Crowe, BigPlanz and that was awesome for me.

It's hard for E to be everywhere all the time. :D

Not to worry! You'll be able to see him when he's on his SOLO tour! The great news is that you got to personally hear him sing - that fact alone is something very special that most people haven't been able to do.

Big hug! :glomp:

I totally understand especially since I was out there with you! I really felt hurt because we told Ace to ask Elliott to come out since there were so many of his fans there. 10 minutes would've been enough time to handle the little crowd of people that were out there earlier. I even tried to meet him after the show but it was CRAZY by the buses! Well, life goes on! What can you do?

When I was growing up, we saw a lot more performers on TV quite a bit. Now it seems you have to go through hell and high water to watch them in concert--big bucks and gas money, not to mention the travel aggravation, and everyone standing to block your view...I don't understand why TV was invented, if not to facilitate a better way to share experiences like this. And, IMO the performances were enhanced without the performers being subjected to these grueling travel conditions, fans' screaming drowning out the music, all the fans competing to get a view or an autograph, the disappointment endured by most fans who never get near the performer! And the singers could choose an ambience more conducive to their distinctive styles. I wish we, as consumers, could still have this option. Despite all the hype and excitement of a live concert, nothing can really match the intimacy of having Elliott perform "just for me" in my own living room on my own TV screen! Thank goodness we were introduced to Elliott in that format!

Oh AngELL that is so heart warming, I love what you wrote, thank you for putting your thoughts out there for us.
I'm hoping to get a look at Elliott in person, nothing wrong with dreaming. Sometimes we just have to be thankful for what we do have!

Imagine the life of being trapped in a bus. Basically that's what life is like for these idols. Everytime they pull into a town there are fans waiting as soon as they get there untill the time they leave wanting to interact with them. All of the idols have been very generous with their time. They give performances almost every night. They do M&G before all of their concerts. They do after M&G/parties each night. PLUS they have been gracious enoough to come out and talk/pose/sign etc. for their fans almost every time they get off of that bus.
These idols are all doing phone interviews, setting up their future careers, catching up with family, writing music and a host of other things that keep them busy. If they can't take the time to leave the bus there is probably good reason. And I even think taking a nap is a good reason if that's what they need.
It is disappointing when one cannot meet their idol. But I think that more than many other recording artists, these guys have gone out of their way to be fan friendly. Everyone should be understanding of their time and enjoy to the fullest the wonderful concert they put on.
Please don't yell at me and say they owe it to their fans. I know some feel this way but I don't. IMO it is a bonus and gift that they come out by the buses and meet their fans on top of the M&G's and after parties. There have been many lucky Etrainers and I'm delighted for them. It's natural to feel sad if your not one of the lucky ones this time. But Elliott will be around for years and years to come, so maybe next time, next concert.
Edit to say this is not directed at the OP or any one specific. Just my opinion

I completely understand how you feel. I wanted to so badly to meet Elliott at the concert and came home very depressed about it and for some other things that happen on that trip, but I know that there will actuallybe a better time and place for us to meet in the future. I waited 15 years to meet Marty Stuart. I meet him at a casnio where I watch him and his band play that night and I will never forget. He was great! and really appericated me as a fan.

It just seems like he GOT OUT OF THE BUS at every Venue except Los Angeles. I see all this amazing footage of him doing meet and greets at every other venue, and for Los Angeles, no one was there except Ace.
