Inside the "Idol" Tour After-Party

Immediately following their performance at the LA stop of their tour, the "American Idols" greeted lucky fans at their Staples Center after-party on Saturday.

The ever-gracious Ace Young signed autographs for the throngs of his young female fans, while their moms gawked on the side.

Paris Bennett, who recently turned 18, handled herself like an old pro and stood on a table to handle the crush of the teenage amateur paparazzi that swarmed the pint-size pop star.

Kellie Pickler, sporting blonde extensions, proved she's just a down home gal by arriving in slippers and sweatpants.

But the scene stealer and diva of the evening was Chris Daughtry. Chris arrived with extra security,and although initially he did mingle with fans, by the end of the night you had to be asked over by The Daughtry in order to say hello.

Interestingly, LIVE lead singer Ed Kowlaczyk --who performed with The Daughtry on the "Idol" finale -- was part of Chris' entourage that night and went completely unnoticed by the crowd.

"Idol" winner Taylor Hicks, Bucky Covington and Elliott Yamin did not attend the meet and greet. The trio were busy getting across town to the Johnny Depp-owned Viper Room to take the stage with the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra, which features members of Taylor Hicks' band.

Another no-show was film actress hopeful, Katharine McPhee. We're told that Kat, who is from nearby Sherman Oaks, Calif., had so many family and friends come visit her backstage that she wasn't able to attend the after-party.


It figures Katharine didn't bother to show up for her own HOMETOWN Meet & Greet. She was with her family before the concert. We saw her drive up and she wasn't part of the bus. She showed up much later than everyone else. she could have taken 30 minutes out for her Hometown but it's been obvious all along she doesn't care about her fans at all.

Katharine had no fans for her homecoming Top Three week except the current students attending her high school that they forced to attend a gathering in the gymnasium, so I'm certainly not surprised t hat she wasn't at the after-party. It would have been embarrassing for her.

Interesting that Katharine shows up in a car with family and later than the other idols in her home STATE (not her home town) when Elliott wasn't allowed to venture five feet away from the Idol Patrol when he was in Richmond. :no:

GOOD POINT~! AI helps to perpetuate her reputation by allowing her to do certian things the others can't. Don't they realize that the fanbase of the other idols who see she gets preferential treatment can hurt her popularity overall?

The best spot for an Idol to be in is one where fans of other Idols STILL like and respect them. Like Paris, Kellie, Ace, Bucky, etc....I may not be in their fanbase, but i like them and have nothing bad to say about them. But with Kat, not only does she do things that are upsetting, AI keeps giving her special priveledges.

They need to stop that! it causes sour feelings, i am sure the other idols feel that way too, altho they are too classy to admit it. In the long run, AI is hurting Kat by making these concessions.

I really have to agree here - but I think Kat is responsible. IF Kat were warmer to the other Idols and their fans - and behaved in ways that inspired positive feelings instead of negative ones - she could have her own fan base, plus the support of additional fanbases. For instance - Elliott and Taylor - and all the guys to be honest - have a great relationship and obviously support each other. For that reason - we are open to supporting all the guys - not just Elliott (ok some will never support Taylor) And in return - many, if not most of the fans of all those guys will be buying Elliott's CD.

It's the old adage "what goes around, comes around". Given that Kat, Lisa and Paris would all be recording Pop music, you could think they would feed off each others fans. Not so. Kat has not really inspired support from any fans other than her own.

Maybe the guys are just unique that way. They all have different styles of music, but fans seem to be open to them all.

Linda i agree that Kat has done her own work in distancing herself from the others, I guess what i was trying to say is that AI is not helping matters by allowing her to continue to get special treatment. They could easily tell her NO like they do the others. She will still shoot her own foot I am sure, but at least they would not add to it by giving special allowances.

Someone has to be the brains in her dept! Seems like AI nor her PR people are doing much to help promote her!
