The concert was so much fun! It went by way too fast but I still had such an amazing time. I enjoyed everyone! I was 11th row, section 3. My new camera turned out to be a good decision. I'm just going to post my pictures of Elliott first and then I'll post a few of the others with the link to all of them.
ETA: I finally got
all of my pictures uploaded to photobucket. They can be found by clicking
this link. If you want to skip to Elliott, his pictures start on page 3. Some are really blurry, I just haven't deleted them yet. :)
Now for my thoughts on the Idols during the show:
Mandisa: Wow, she was amazing. She's from Sacramento originally so she got a nice warm welcome home from the crowd. She talked about how she feels like she's come full circle, and that she remembered being eleven years old, sitting in the upper level of Arco watching a Janet Jackson concert. She also gave a big shoutout to her mom who was sitting in the 2nd or 3rd row.
I was very impressed with her set. When she was on the show, I only liked one performance from her and I felt that she was overrated. Well she proved me wrong Tuesday night. I have a new respect for her and I wish her all the best with her career. I enjoyed her duet with Ace as well.
Ace: As a lot of people have already said, Ace is definitely much better live than he was on the show. He's just so cheesy on stage. The whole beanie thing and taking his jacket off, and then there's the running up the ramp and jumping over the railing bit...just a tad bit lame. Just sing man.
Harder To Breathe was much better than I expected it to be. Maybe, just maybe his falsetto is starting to grow on me.
Lisa: I was impressed with Lisa, especially on
Your Song. She's still too smiley for me, but she's sweet. Her mom was in the audience as well, so another shoutout and she dedicated
Someone Saved My Life Tonight to her. Paris joined her for their duet, which wasn't horrible but definitely not a favorite moment of mine.
Paris: Not sure what to say about Paris. She wasn't horrible, but I just don't care for her voice. Midnight Train was pretty good though. The dancing during the Beyonce song just seemed out of place with so many youngsters in the audience, but what do I know anyway.
Bucky: Everyone loved him and were on their feet for
Superstition. I thought it was really good considering it was my least favorite song he sang on the show. He had the crowd singin' along during
Drift Away too. He's not the most talented singer in the bunch but I love him. Then I hear
You're The One That I Want start to play and everyone cheers for Pickler. I love Grease, and I thought they were cute together, but definitely not a vocal masterpiece.
Kellie: I thought she did alright for Kellie Pickler. She didn't sound any different than she did on the show. Nothing spectacular but not terrible either. She's a funny gal. When she was doing her talking bit about Sonic and everything, somebody would cheer for her so of course she would stop mid sentence and say "Thaannk yew." I thought it was cute but I noticed people were still laughing
at her, not with her. She seems like a sweetheart though.
Intermission. Wow, already? It went by so fast. But that's okay because it's almost time for Elliott!
Chris: It was like the crowd had been asleep and they finally woke up. I mean the others got really good responses, but when Chris came out, it was a whole different show. I thought he sounded really good. I can't say anything bad about him. He did that whole "I've been working a lot on my album, if I come back here next year, are you guys gonna be here?" Crowd roars. So his last song ends and I know Elliott is about to hit the stage. I was so excited. I could tell others around me knew he was coming out too. As soon as he walked through those doors, the audience came alive again. He got an excellent response and I was thrilled about that. They sounded so good together. It was great to finally hear it live and not just from a low quality mp3 or video. They rocked the house!
Elliott: He was everything I expected and so much more. I thought he sounded excellent the whole time. The crowd was grovin' right along to
NTM.
Moody's Mood was just WOW. I loved it. He through in that growl of his a few times and it was hot.
Trouble was excellent as well. He's grown so much since the show ended in May. It was so great to see him so comfortable on that stage, and just loving every second of it. I didn't want his set to end. But then he asked if we minded him bringing a few friends back out to the stage.
Patience: Just like Savin' Me, I was so happy to finally hear this song in person. They sounded so good together. It was cool seeing all the sell phones and glow sticks waving around during the performance too. I love these guys so much. Then it was "two, three, four...wooohooo." Oh yay, my favorite song.
Katharine: I have to say,
Black Horse was way better than I've heard her sing it before. I didn't hate it.
Think was really good too. I guess she made a lame comment about being back in California and how she hasn't been here in so long (as if she's been on the tour the whole time) but I didn't hear that part. I only heard her say how great it is "just to be in California again." She did get a good response from the crowd.
SOTR was beautiful. Overall, I thought she did a great job.
Taylor: So obviously I know he's going to come out of the crowd somewhere, but the question is where? I hear him, where's he at? The crowd went nuts. Everyone's looking around, then "There he is!" He came down the left side of the arena from the upper level, then down the back of the floor section and up the right side of the floor.
Hollywood Nights was fun and crowd was lovin' it.
DIMYP was once again dedicated to the troops. It was good, but I think Taylor is sick of singing that song. Then he finally broke into the crazy dancin' during
Takin' It To The Streets.
We Are The Champions/Living In America: Elliott's back on stage, and he's wearing the jersey! That was awesome. They all sounded great singing together, but Elliott's voice was definitely the one that stood out the most. Maybe I'm just biased? :) The lady next to me decided to take her grandson and leave right as they were ending the song so I missed most of them coming back out to do their final bows. It's okay though. I still saw some cute moments. Elliott seemed to be having a blast.
Overall, the concert was awesome and it definitely proved this was the best season so far of American Idol. I just don't see how they could ever top this group of contestants, especially Elliott Yamin. I am now looking forward even more, to hear what he's going to put on his debut album.
The entire day was just incredible and I'm never going to forget any of it. :woohoo:
