Miami, Fl. Although recent hurricanes have been going to the West or North of us. We rarely have gotten hit by anything major since Andrew. Katrina was a mild inconvinience, but Wilma did do some damage.

But they say that it's going to be a busy season again. That's ridiculous. What happens when they run out of greek letters? Hehe.

That's a good question since last year's season was extremely active! We were mostly spared by everything but OPHELIA! The storm took so long getting here by moving so slow it gave our governor, FEMA, and the state plenty of time to put disaster teams together! Luckily, not only were we spared, but the Outer banks was spared as well which is near Cape Hatteras, NC! Our power was out for about 7-8 hours. It went off in the early afternoon and was back on by about 7pm eastern time! Was on the way to get more fuel for the generator and was walking into the house and almost like magic, here come the lights! I would say about 50,000 Progress Energy customers in Wilmington were in the dark during the height of the storm.

Houston, TX.

I was really proud of how we helped out in Katrina. Of course, then Rita came, and we all sat on the freeway. I did better than most, though--I was only on the freeway for 5.5 hours ;). That drive's normally half an hour, by the way. So yeah, it was so fun. This year, I'm not doing that.

MANDEVILLE, LOUISIANA. WE ARE 30 MINUTES NORTH OF NEW ORLEANS, ACROSS THE LAKE.

I AM A LITTLE NERVOUS FOR MY STATE!

Near Houston, TX. We had evacuees from Rita stay with us last year. If it had been a Katrina, we wouldn't have gotten wet, but the wind would have damaged some stuff around us. The worst is NO ELECTRICITY. We have already started gearing up - too much work if you leave it to the last minute. Plywood for more windows was delivered today!
