I'm wondering if Cool actually is a name in English speaking countries. I met a little boy in Finland named Cool. I thought it was so weird. :) I never met anybody with that name when living in US.

The only place I have heard Cool as a name was in the movie Parenthood. Tom Hulce's son in the movie was named Cool.

Ok, thanks for the answers. There's this service on the website of the Population Register Center of Finland where you can check the amount of people with a certain name. According to that site there's only one person named Cool in Finland. That's the little boy I met. :) It's strange because there actually are some pretty strict laws here about naming a child. Usually you can't give your child a foreign name unless one or both of his/her parents are from another country. This especially applies when there's likely to be problems with pronounciation... And I know the non-English speaking elderly people won't have a clue about pronouncing Cool... :blink:

Mallainen you must be joking! Laws regarding what you can name your child? That is so bizarre. With all the crazy "names" that people are giving their children these days, I almost wish there was a law here in North America like that. Well I don't actually wish that heh heh!

I know of a drummer but his last name is Cool. His name is Tre Cool. :D

I'm not joking... :P Sometimes the restrictions are quite frustrating and they're also critisized. But other times I'm really glad somebody actually has the authority to tell silly parents what name the just can't give their poor child. People have tried to give names like Lucifer and have been told sorry, you can't do that.
