Title: Survivor
Description: Does anybody still watch?
ThankYouElliott - September 7, 2006 05:21 PM (GMT)
It starts a week from tonight! So, what does everybody think about how they're dividing up the tribes this season?
AgentScully - September 7, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
Survivor is one of my fave shows! Dividing up the tribes is...interesting.
Actually I don't have a huge problem w/ it. I kinda get what they are going for here I'm I'm just not that outraged about it. *shrugs*
I just can't wait until the new season starts!!
ThankYouElliott - September 7, 2006 07:25 PM (GMT)
I can't wait either! If nothing else, it'll be fun just to see how snarky Jeff will be this time around! :D
yoli68 - September 7, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
I've never seen a single season of Survivor but I'm intrigued by this one. I thinks it's because I'm Latina. I wanna see if there are going to be stereotypical people on the show. I'll check it out and see if it hooks me.
AgentScully - September 7, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
haha! Love a snarky Jeff. Cracks my ish up. He's a little devil..lol.

Haha! Same here! It doesn't really bother me, and in fact I think it's a good way to make it clear that they have an equal amount of each ethnicity.

In season's past they have had people of different races and such, though not as many on one season as there are going to be this season. None of them ever seemed really stereotypical, IMO. I guess we'll see with this season.
I'd also like to add that I love this show and have been watching since season 2. I think Jeff Probst is half of the entertainment! He's a great host, ain't anyone like him!
I also think it's kind of weird that he's now dating someone who was on the show!
Triceradon - September 8, 2006 01:01 PM (GMT)
I got into Survivor in the season Rupert was on. I've been watching ever since. I'll probably watch this season, but since they say they did this in part due to people saying they have a lack of diversity, I only wonder if seasons past this will keep up the diversity. Of course, not saying I want it even across the boards like this season.
ElliottCat101 - September 8, 2006 05:18 PM (GMT)
I think this season seems cool. Can't wait to see if it actually ends up being cool! LOL
And I agree with some of the above posters -- I love Jeff! He totally makes the show for me!
miyagimayday - September 8, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Another Suvivor fan here~!! :rocker:
Jeff is such a cutie!!
Can't wait till next week!
P.S. Love Aras from last season~haha

ooh! I love Aras too! He and Danielle were my picks to win!
realitymom - September 9, 2006 02:04 AM (GMT)
I have watched Survivor since season 1. I must confess, I have been a bit bored by the past few seasons. The tribeal eliminations became so predictable, it was pretty boring for most of the show...yet I still watched! :rotfl:
Jeff Probst is the BEST! He really liked last seasons cast...he seemed to have bonded with them. Some of the other casts...not so much! :poke: He is awesome tho...& quite pleasing to look at...love the dimples!
I didn't care for Aras...at all. He acted like a spoiled lil punk a lot of the time. I was rooting for Tom(? I think that was his name...lol) or Stephanie...she kicked BUTT! :rocker:
Looking foward to this season, tho I am not sold on the racial separation. I love that it forced more ethnic people to be chosen...but not that they have to essentially knock themselves off before the tribes are actually created. :poke: I dunno, maybe there will be some twists that we haven't seen yet! That would be nice! I'll be tuning in...
AgentScully - September 9, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
Tom? *thinking* Um, who was that? Or is it blatantly obvious and I just lost my mind...lol.
I liked Aras, too. So glad that he won the million. Plus, he was hot! Espically all cleaned up @ the reunion show. Delish!

I couldn't for the life of me remember if there was a Tom last season or not! I think there were at least 2 seasons with a Tom! Farmer Tom and I think the other Tom was an older dude, too! So, I wasn't sure if you meant Terry and said Tom, or if there actually WAS a Tom last season that I just didn't remember! :rotfl: :D

I'm very excited for the season premier!!! I'm surpised that there aren't any commercials for it on tv.....well, not where I live. i've only heard commercials on the radio.

maybe the networks won't show commercials because they're afraid about looking racist or something..
AgentScully - September 10, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
Terry! Ok, Ok....lol. Yeah, I liked Terry too. He was a great player. And was awesome at the comps.
I've seen tons of commercials for "Survivor". Hmmmm.
ElliottCat101 - September 15, 2006 06:43 PM (GMT)
So did you guys watch last night? What did you think of the first show?
kagey - September 15, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
I watched (as always) I'm good with the racial division stuff it makes for an interesting social experiment. I wondered if they would purposefully picked contestants that seem to have racial biases. At this point it has not shown although I thought it interesting that the groups talked about some racial stereotypes within their own races and about other meeting/ not meeting peoples perceptions of their race. All seem to want to represent well.
Hints at romance(s) always keep the viewers guessing. So thanks Jeff.
Did the person sent to exile island last season have to stay two nights? I thought I only remember 1 night exile. That's a twist
About the elimination last night. I thought that the two women group and the two men group should have worked together and got rid of Stephani. They made her the swing vote when that wasn't really necessary. Hate that the group may be weaker - being 1 man, three women. Hope they do well in the future.
No favorites yet - group or individual

I understand not getting rid of Stephani. I feel that each group (the two guys and the two women) thought that, by keeping Stephani, they would avoid an annoying tie vote at the next tribal. This is what I think was going through their heads.
As for getting rid of one of the guys instead of one of the women, I think in some ways that was a smart thing of Stephani to do and in some ways it was a dumb thing. It was smart because I feel the women will be more loyal to her down the road. I think they guys might've ditched her as soon as the merge came. But it was dumb because now their tribe will be much weaker physically. I guess she was in a hard spot..
I'm can't decide whether I think Cao Boi is really cool and funny, or really annoying and stupid. :dunno:

Me too. He seems like he has potential to be cool but based on the scenes for next week it looks like he's gonna annoy his tribe with all his Asian jokes.
I thought Stephani was going to be voted off too since she hadn't bonded with the group very well. I think it's going to be a great disadvantage to have only one man on your team. But we'll just wait and see.

That's true, he did cure Yul's headache...But was that pinching thing at the end really needed?
J_sky - September 19, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
Another fan here. Love the theme this seaon I think its rather intresting.
Repin for the RED team(aitu)!!
Amunet - September 22, 2006 03:42 AM (GMT)
GOGO Yul! WOOHOO!!
Lol.....
Oh and Brad was the one that Cao Boi cured with his weird headache squeezing the head pinching thing... not Yul.
I'm SO glad the red team got rid of that useless hunk of meat. Man was he annoying.. and then what the heck was he saying at tribal? He fell in love with some woman he just met and pretty much barely even talked to?
WTH was that???
That guy just needed to go.... he's an idiot.
I don't know what he thought he was achieving by saying all that.. maybe sympathy votes from the women or something.. who knows.. all I care about is that he's now GONE. :woohoo:
I am a bit ticked that these Survivors seem to have it VERY very easy though.
They never would've given a losing tribe a flint at tribal ya know. Guess they figured it was better than letting them dehydrate :P heh
Anywho... good good season so far!!
:ilikeit:
ElliottCat101 - September 22, 2006 05:18 AM (GMT)
I am also so glad that they got rid of Billy! What an annoying guy! He even admited that he just sat back and let all the others work and he just took some of whatever they got! Talk about not pulling your own weight...
...Having said that, I think it was a bad idea for them to throw the challange. He clearly wasn't hurting the team that much since they didn't lose last time. Heck, they almost didn't lose tonight, and they were trying to lose! The Hiki (yellow) Tribe can't seem to get it together, can they?
And when Billy started talking about Candice and he being in love? What the-?! LOL I thought Jeff's reaction to that was priceless!
I am also happy that Yul found the hidden Immunity Idol. He seems cool! :) But when he was reading the instructions, I swear he read something about "any of the hidden immunity idols".. Do you think they'll have more than one?
I think I like Ozzy. Even though I think he was wrong for losing the challange on purpose, he still seems really smart and knows what he's doing. The main reason I think I like him is because I don't like Cristina! She is annoying me already! And since he's her enemy, he's on my good side! :P

usually the losing Tribe gets to take their torches back to camp and get fire that way.. So this tribe actually had it harder than most!
Amunet - September 22, 2006 06:51 AM (GMT)
I remember one time where the tribe didn't even get to take their torches back... can't remember which season that was though.
I can't wait to see next week. I feel bad for that octopus whatever team apparently catches! :(
Octopus are supposed to be smart.. and I would love to have on in an aquarium heh.... like one of those tiny ones...
Anyways... hope it gets away or at least gives them hell before they kill it and eat it. Poor thing...
AgentScully - September 22, 2006 04:42 PM (GMT)
So thrilled Yul found the I.I.I'm really liking him. He comes across as very intelligent and nice.
Billy was a waste. Having said that I HATED J.P.'s attitude toward him. WTFever. J.P. about worked my last nerve @ T.C.
Hee! I loved when Jeff almost crapped his pants when billy said he and Candice were in love. (or whatever that was he said). He was all-WTH. It's very hard to catch Jeff speechless but that done it. Love Jeff.
yoli68 - September 22, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
Tribal Council was bizarre! Cristina said she was voting for Ozzy but at the end of the show you were able to see how everyone voted. Cristina voted for Billy! Everyone voted for Billy except Billy. I think she changed her mind when he started ranting on about love at first site and all that crap. He sounded totally crazy! They are better of without him.
I think Yul is totally hot! I'm glad he found the I.I. too. They have a pretty good team.
ThankYouElliott - September 22, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
I want to know if Candice loves him, too! I wonder if Jeff will bring it up next week!
Sorry, that wasn't much of a contribution, but I felt kind of lame to be the starter of the topic and then not make any responses to it! I wasn't sure what to think about this season, but I like it so far. But I'm one of those people who lives for bizaare-o Tribal Councils! They totally :rocker: ! :D

Great show~~so much drama~~ :rotfl:
LMAO when Billy started talking about that love s***... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Jeff's face? priceless!
I am rooting for Yul at the moment! He rocks!! :rocker:

yeah, when everybody was making such a big deal over it I was like "Guys, it's okay! They'll only have it like that for an episode - two tops!" That's how survivor always does it! :P
PoorMe - September 29, 2006 04:32 PM (GMT)
Yay! I'm glad I found this thread! I always watch Survivor. Actually I was telling myself I wasn't going to watch this year because of the final three immunity challenge last time. It was so obviously slanted towards the woman winning. That just seemed wrong - especially when Terry was able to master everything else they threw at him. Women always excel when balance comes into play because of their lower center of gravity. The challenge heavily favored a smaller person too.
The thing that got me to watch this year was - guess what - the racially divided teams. I kind of liked it. It got the players talking about the subject too. I suspected that they would divide into new teams fairly quickly. I am wondering if they'll mix up the teams a few more times to throw off the alliances. I think the alliances have been kind of ruining the last few seasons. I hate when they keep a jerk around just because he or she is in the big alliance.
I'm a Yul fan too. Hope he can stick it out.
AgentScully - September 29, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
Yay! Yul fans! He's awesome, IMO. I'm loving him and hope things work out well for him in the future. I like Jonathan also. He was cracking me up w/ his tactics trying to get folks to vote out whatsherface last night. He was trying so hard...lol. But he's kind of weak physically.
I do not , however, like the chick that thinks flirting is such a grand idea. I mean I can see flirting if your attracted to a guy but not for game play. It's lame.
