Title: 9/11 Pause
Description: I lost a friend at 8:46 a.m. 9/11/01

Gogo - September 11, 2006 02:30 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to take a pause today on the fifth anniversary of 9/11//01. We lost a friend in our church congregation when the first plane hit the tower. His name is Gerald Paskins. Jerry left his wife and children. He was in NY on business and had a good work ethic and consequently always at work on time.

Gerald lived in Southern California and attended Rose Drive Friends church. It was a shock that Sunday to find he had been there and would no longer be with us. The most lasting comment made that day in the service was: "Jerry was in the conference room one moment and the next moment in the throne room of God." It makes eternity even more real when you think, "I wonder what the Lord has Jerry doing today?"

For anyone else who has lost a friend or loved one, the Lord bless you and give you a peace that passes all understanding.

Your friend is surely in heaven. I pray for everyone that has lost family and/or friends on 9/11.

Thank you for the post, GoGo. So sorry about your friend. That was a tragic day for so many. We lost a couple of firemen who were parishioners at our church. The one was very active with our sports program. He is truely missed by all of us. I was just talking to him the Saturday before he was killed. It was just so unbelievable that he was gone three days later. His name was Captain Patrick Waters and he was truely a wonderful man devoted to his God, his family and his church.

I was browsing and found this piece on Yahoo by Keith Olbermann. He gave this speech yesterday evening from Ground Zero. I think he has put so eloquently into words what many of us wish we could. This is worth reading.
