Title: Someone Brought A Gun To School....

yellin4yamin - October 4, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
to the highschool here in my town today, and the middle school and Elementary school that both my daughter and son attend, are in the same lot at the HS!!!!!!! Thank GOD someone reported that they knew the student had the gun to the principal...the police were called in, and they found the gun on him and he was arrested. It absolutely makes me SICK to think what could have happened to any of the children, or staff in the HS...or the other two school, and I will give my children an EXTRA HUGE hug tonight!! You just never know....

;(

Oh my God. :glomp: I'm glad your children are alright. God forbid..
I'm so happy those kids were arrested.

In my high school, kids sell drugs and smoke outside after school. It's so terrible. It makes me upset to think that there are kids my age who are selling cocaine, and marijuana.

 It's a sad world sometimes. Glad no one was hurt.

IT'S VERY SCARY FOR OUR KIDS, ISN'T IT? CAN'T EVEN BE TOTALLY SAFE IN A SCHOOL FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. WE JUST KEEP HEARING ABOUT THESE HORROR STORIES MORE AND MORE. THE WHOLE THING IS VERY DEEPLY DISTURBING TO ME.

WELL, YELLIN, I'M GLAD THEY MADE THE ARREST IN TIME. NO TELLING WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THEY DIDN'T. DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT. :(

Just the other day, a bunch of schools in small towns throughout the state were on lockdown because of threats made that there were teenagers with guns who were on some sort of "mission" and if they weren't successful at one school, they'd just go on to another one! :( I don't think they were ever caught, but I believe they were seen to have "left the area" so the lockdown finally ended. I'm glad that I don't have kids just for the simple fact of how scary life is these days! I'm glad that nobody was hurt at your schools, Yellin! :glomp:

This shocks me no matter how many times I hear it. I've been out of high school for 21 years, and incidents like this were literally UNHEARD OF! My daughter will be entering high school next year, and I never thought that I would fear for her life while she's in a place where she and her friends should feel the safest, aside from home. It hurts to think our kids have to think about things like this during what should be the best years of their lives.

What the heck in going on? There seems to be another rash of school voilence around the country lately. I'm so glad things worked out well in your community Yellin. And thumbs up to the students that reported the kid with the gun.

You are completely right! Those kids should be rewarded in someway.
I am so glad no one was hurt in this instance. Perhaps more situations like this will be handled in such a good way.
