Title: Hockey Fans!!!
Description: Who do you love?
DJ babblefish - October 8, 2006 04:36 AM (GMT)
hey guys! The season is finally back! After the AWESOME final (except my boys lost... blah) If you don't know.. the Sabres are basically having the best start to a season they are 3 for 3! yay. First game beat those Hurricanes that they lost the cup to last year.
HOWEVER---- I don't know if my body is ready for another season like last year. ON THE EDGE THE WHOLE TIME! :woohoo2:
I can't wait to go to B-lo to see them again.. those games are the best!
So... tell me Who is your fav team?? :cheerleader:
DawnlikesElliott - October 8, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
The Detroit Red Wings baby! I'm a little worried about this year because they lost some of their franchise players (Stevie Y, Shanny, and Legacy.) We still have a lot of excellent players though so I'm fairly excited about the season. Once Baseball season is over (holds breath that it lasts several more weeks, Go Tigers!) I will be able to focus my full attention on the wings.

The Pittsburgh Penguins...I hope they get a new arena so they can stay in town.
DJ babblefish - October 13, 2006 03:51 AM (GMT)
ugh!! that's terrible when they threaten to take teams away.. I remember a few years back they were talking about maybe moving the sabres somewhere else... AwFUL.. thanks to billionaire Tom Gollisano.. Buffalo still has the team.
and. i cannot believe that there are only 3 hockey fans on etrain. :noway: :noway: :noway:
I think we totally need a hockey emoticon.

Yeah, we only have 3 pro-sports teams (no basketball), and the other 2 got new fields. Our arena is pretty old, and they've been trying to get a new one for awhile now. It's so complicated. They're trying to get a slots license to bring in money that way. The team has a new owner now, and I hope that he doesn't move the team. It would be really sad for the city. The Pens have gone through some rebuilding years, and they're actually starting to look pretty good again. It would suck to have that taken away from us. We love our sports here. I feel bad for any city whose team moves away, and I hope it doesn't happen here.

Best of luck to you guys! I'll be rooting for Pitt to keep your team!
Moving teams out of cities should seriously be outlawed!

Colorado Avalanche fan here :woohoo: The restructuring a few years ago has put a dent in our roster w/ the loss of Peter (the Great) Forsberg, Adam Foote, Alex Tanguay, Rob Blake but we're trying to hold on!!
Personally, I don't understand why hockey is more popular w/ the masses, what about it isn't to like. The vast majority of the players are such regular joesand nice guys who just love to play the game..........ummmm, do I see a trend here? LOL
H-bomb - October 16, 2006 09:54 PM (GMT)
Woo! Go Lightning!
:cloud9: + :lightbulb: = lightning... sort of, best I could do.

Exactly... EVen though they do get paid a lot... it's TOTALLY more reasonable than any other pro athletes.. I feel like hockey players are the only true "there for the game" athletes out there..
GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!! (dude.. unstoppable!)
IBelieveToMySoul - October 19, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
I don't really watch hockey, but I guess I could say I'm a Minnesota Wild fan.
DJ babblefish - October 21, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)

Yum!
Thank goodness the Pens are doing well this season. If they weren't, I'd have no one to cheer for this year. (I'm a die hard Steelers fan, but they are pretty much hopeless this season.:banghead: )
Let's Go Pens!!! They have a pretty awesome team this year. Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fleury! Awesome! Plus, Recchi is back after he helped Carolina win the Cup last year. :woohoo: Let's Go Pens!!!

I had to revive this thread, since the playoffs are just around the corner. Let's talk hockey!
I LOVE the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Don't you guys wish that hockey got more attention? It is such an exciting sport, but they never talk about it on PTI, Around the Horn, Mike & Mike. I'm sorry, but hockey is more exciting than a lot of other sports. Football and Hockey are my faves....and tennis. The only time hockey gets a mention is if there is a big-time fight.
Soccerma - March 19, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
Not a big hockey fan but if I had to pick, I'd have to go with the home team which is the NY Rangers.
katirpet - March 19, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
Philadelphia Flyers, Baby! I have loved them for years!
brwneydgirl - March 19, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
The Pens won their shootout tonight against Ottawa. :woohoo: That game was too close for comfort, but the shootouts are exciting!

:glomp: I'm sorry. A comeback is still possible. I'm a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and we are down 2-1. :( We need to beat Ottawa on Tuesday night. Good luck to your team and mine. :cheerleader:
brwneydgirl - April 20, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
:( I am sad. The Pens playoff run has come to an end. It was a great year, though. Last year, they finished 2nd to last overall, and they made a lot of progress this year to make the playoffs. For most of the players, this was their very first playoff experience, and the young talent will continue to grow. Plus, the team is staying in town, which is by far the most important thing. I can't imagine how sad I'd be now if the team was moving, which was a definite possiblility until a month or two ago. It's still sad, though, to already be out of the playoffs. :(

DawnlikesElliott - May 12, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Let's Go Red Wings! Now that I "work" for them I'm even more pumped that they are doing SO well this year. All the way Baby!
brwneydgirl - June 5, 2007 09:31 AM (GMT)
Okay, so I don't feel so bad about the Pens losing in the first round, since the team that beat them is still there...the Senators. But, I have to say I'm pulling for the Ducks to win the next game and win the cup on home ice. Go Ducks!
brwneydgirl - June 7, 2007 02:59 AM (GMT)
Congratulations Anaheim Ducks!!! Stanley Cup Champions!!! :number1:
