Title: Barack Obama
Description: Who loves him?
pilatesmom - October 22, 2006 08:44 AM (GMT)
Me, I loved him since the DNC convention of 2004. When he spoke then, I felt that this man will be president someday.

I am with you there. He is so intelligent and so endearing. I hope that he will run! I think that he should run in '08. As much as everyone is saying that Hilary will run there are way too many people that hate her for that to happen.
Absent_Element - October 22, 2006 07:53 PM (GMT)
:P I love him too. I also hope he can be the first black president!
SoulMusicRocks - October 22, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
I hope he will be our new President in 2008. I'm really impressed with his positive attitude about key issues that effect everyone: healthcare, education, environment, security, and many more things where he is attempting to make a difference as a senator. I really hope he decides to run and gets the nomination. He could really do great things for this nation and make new progress.
He was a key note speaker at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 with his noted speech "The Audacity to Hope". I really suggest everyone reads this. I found a transcription of this speech on a rhetoric site where he talks about what direction he hopes America will go towards as well as about his background. He is an empowering, intelligent, and charismatic person who I hope is our next President.
IBelieveToMySoul - October 23, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm too young to vote and I don't know a lot about Obama, but from what I've read, I wouldn't mind if he's our next president.
Here's the transcript of the speech SoulMusicRocks was talking about:

agree about Hilary. there is too much soil dirt on the Clintons.
Obama appeals to the very religious scope in this country.
Eyess2NKiss - October 23, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
I have heard Obama's running for president, just this morning!! OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!! YAY!! :woohoo: I do  he becomes our next president! History making is on the horizon!! And so is Elliott's music!! (I just had to say it!)
wowhesgood - October 23, 2006 03:37 PM (GMT)
As much as I'd love a woman president, I don't think Hillary is the one to lead the county. Yes, too much soil on the Clintons.
I love some of the things that Obama has said, basically, that regardless of political affiliation, race, religion, etc.... we are all Americans and that we need to concentrate on what we have in common instead of our differences. Amen to that!
The country definitely needs a President w/ a new outlook and isn't in it for the politics, etc.... He may be the one.

I'd definitely vote for him for the whole 2 hours!!
Or...do I have my voting systems confused again?

Good one!
SoulMusicRocks - October 23, 2006 08:13 PM (GMT)
He may be the person who can bridge the gap between the very liberal and very conservative to make real progress for America in all areas of domestic and foreign policy.
Another thing that I noticed with his speeches is that they are not pretentious at all. He is very direct, eloquent, and brings forth real plans for needed improvement. We are looking at a consistently weakening middle class in America, and IMHO, we need someone like Obama as a President. He seems to understand a lot about the world and our nation while at the same time genuinely caring and appreciating all that America is. As I said before, I sincerely hope he becomes our next President.
If you haven't, I reccomend everyone reading about his beliefs about different policies and subjects like the environment at his offical Government website. I learned a lot more and as I said before, was really impressed with his ideas.

Maybe we could get a jump start on the election process, and start there!! BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!! He has my vote anywhere I can put his name out there!! How refreshing it would be to have a president with such optimism! I have high regards for Obama!! :bounce:

I think it is sweet she addresses him such affection. how adorable!
Heck, if I was married to Barack, I would break out in a song like Taylor Hicks and sing...."he's a hunk , a hunk , a hunk of burning LOVE!...wooooooooo!"

Well... that is certainly enough for me to eliminate him from any list of potential presidential candidates! NOT!!!! :poke:
I really like Barack's integrity, intelligence and "thinking on his feet" capability. That's something sorely lacking in our current leaders today. We have a vice president who is intelligent but has no integrity (witness throwing his own daughter to the wolves to support the party, not to mention his lies regarding this fiasco of a war) and a president who may or may not have integrity (I lean toward believing not), but certainly hasn't the intelligence for the position he holds.
I have other favorites for possible nomination for president, but he is certainly up there at the top.

She was introducing him as the new Senator from Illinois in 2004.
He seemed to be a class act until she breaks out in this getto dialect for his introduction. He didn't look like he expected it, but maybe I had him pegged all wrong in the first place.

it is spelled ghetto, not getto.
So I still don't understand how a little playful term of endearment by one's spouse makes them a bad choice for president.
Reagan used "ghetto" talk once.

ghetto, getto, get-oh! whatever, you know what I mean.
Can't imagine the likes of Laura Bush or Hilary Clinton saying that to their Presidential husbands on national t.v. I Just didn't think that was the platform for GHETTO terms. It's just my opinion and my vote.

It's not really the platform, for lying, cheating, decieving, and extramarrital affairs, but we get that anyways.
It's not a platform, for Enron, Jack Abramoff, Foley, etc, but we get those anyways.
I'd much rather have a spouse talk like that, then everything I listed above.

Okay, I will leave this sticky Obama love fest. :P
I only mentioned my disappointment in the phrase because it is generally associated with one who is identifying a person that merely fathered their child. It is not endearing like i.e. "my wonderful, loving husband".
If Obama is elected, I truly hope he never brings anything to the table that is on that ugly list you mentioned, Berkana. It is our responsibility to not just hear their words but to look at their history and voting record and compare it to our own beliefs. When we vote for them we are trusting that they will be consistant with who they are. Unfortunately, our politicians disappoint us on a regular basis from both party lines.
Good luck with Obama '08. We have a long 2 years ahead of us!
pilatesmom - November 10, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
go noble 86, I think Berkana was refering to the Clinton scandal. Both parties have their fault.
Barack just seemed one of the few good eggs. But hey, I love Kenneth Brownback, the conservative Republican as well.

I am ready for positive change. I honestly think he will keep the promises he makes. He is the farthest from a politican and yet is a politcian if that makes sense? lol

I'm counting on the new majority of the House and Senate to create positive change over the next two years. It will create a better political climate for a candidate as bright, honest, and charismatic as Obama to become our next President.
