I'm nearly finished with this book about a woman who becomes the personal assistant to a fashion magazine editor in New York City.

It's on the New York Times Best Seller List and a movie with Meryl Streep is out based on the book.

I'm going to finish the book before I see the movie.

I saw the movie a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good! How was the book? Did you enjoy it?

I liked the book, but it was SO different from the movie.

There was a lot of additional character development of Andrea's boyfriend and best friend Lilly in the book.

In the book, her boyfriend was a teacher at an elementary school, and the OTHER MAN who helps her get an early copy of a Harry Potter book, does NOT betray her in the book.

Also, in the book, Andrea loses it in Paris and tells Miranda to go "jump in the lake," only in much more graphic terms in front of all of Miranda's peers before a fashion show.

The ending is similar, in that Andrea gets a job at a newspaper after paying her "dues," but she doesn't get back together with her boyfriend, and when she sees Miranda for the first time since leaving Paris, Miranda completely ignores her in the book, while she sort of acknowledges her in the movie.

I was okay with just about all of the changes they made for the movie. The casting of her boyfriend and the OTHER MAN were not even close to what I would have pictured. I had a more difficult time with the OTHER MAN character since he had a very different personality in the book.

Since Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stan Tucci were the primary characters, I focused on their scenes and enjoyed the movie as a Saturday night rental.
