Title: Did This Really Happen?
Description: At the CMA awards last night?

ThankYouElliott - November 7, 2006 03:56 PM (GMT)

I didn't want to ruin the "Congratulations Carrie!" thread with this question. Anyway, this apparently happened, but I'm always tuning out the speeches and not paying 100% attention, so I missed this. When Carrie won, Faith Hill threw her hands in the air, and yelled, "WHAT?!" right into the camera, and then stormed off? That's what I get for having a limited attention span! Anyway, if that really happened, that's just wrong!

I can't really believe that would happen. Even if Faith was upset, she'd keep it to herself I would think.

But I didn't watch last night. The only thing I know about the CMA's is that Carrie won and Anthony Federov was her date!

Thanks for the link! :D That's cute that Anthony was her date!

That's funny, I had the same reaction when Elliot had voted off AI

I just posted this on the Congratulations Carrie thread. I saw it on rickey.org
Faith says she was just joking but who knows. I think it was poor sportmanship and sour grapes if true. Carrie looked beautiful.

It's not much of a joke! It seems like bad sportsmanship to me, too! Oh well, if I'd been paying more attention, I'd have seen it for myself! :D

I just went to Faith's website to see if she released a statement concerning her controversial reaction to Carrie's win. She basically says she was not being disrespectful & that Carrie deserved her award. Here's a link if you would like to read the entire statement:

Personally, I thought she seemed quite upset. She didn't wink, grin or give any physical indication after her outburst that she was joking. And her response, doesn't hold water, IMO. Faith is usually very sweet & kind, so this incident is very surprising. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Thanks for the link. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens next!

As a Faith Hill fan I was shocked at her reaction. Shes is a kind sweet woman and this is very unlike her from what I do know about her.
RM read what she wrote and heard Tim on our local radio station today making excuses for her.
I guess this is what happens when fame gets in the way, very sad.

Carrie deserved the award and I hope Faith makes amends to Carrie.
PS Carrie looked stunning and so cute with Anthony!

All I saw last night was Carrie and Anthony; missed Faith's reaction, but a local radio station said something to the effect that she went off about it backstage.

Wow, after seeing her reaction on that youtube link, she was definitely shocked and looked p.o'ed.

Cameras are always rolling.....that's not something you do on a live show or any show for that matter. Those around her who are making excuses for her aren't gonna cut it this time. I always thought Faith was a sweet woman and I wouldn't expect her to do that. I lost a ton of respect for her.

EDubsGurl - November 8, 2006 01:33 AM (GMT)
I honestly think it was a joke. I saw a few smirks here and there the first time she said, "WHAT!?"

XD

Thanks for the link, Brit!

LMAO I can't believe she did that!
I would normally think it was a joke, but she looked really serious and her statement about it today definitely sounds like cow poop!

But whether she was really mad or not, I think she accomplished her goal: Stealing the spotlight from Carrie.

Carrie looked beautiful and said the most grateful acceptance speech I've ever heard. YOU GO CARRIE!

nikkib703 - November 8, 2006 11:10 AM (GMT)
It was an obvious joke, ala Kanye West. I've seen her in interviews and she's pretty humble and down to earth. It was meant to make fun, and I really don't think she meant for it to blow up like this.

SheilaHI - November 9, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
She was just joking, but I'm not I think Martina McBride deserved it! Sorry Carrie...

nymphadora - November 9, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
I saw that on TV and she definitely looked pissed to me.

brwneydgirl - November 9, 2006 04:49 AM (GMT)
When it happened, I didn't even notice it, because I was watching Anthony hug Carrie and congratulate her. Wherever Anthony is, my eyes automatically are drawn that way. He looked so handsome, and Carrie looked beautiful. :D Congrats to her.

So, I found out about the Faith Hill thing afterward when I read about it online. I was in disbelief until I watched my tape. I couldn't believe it. I love Tim and Faith. I always thought she was a sweetheart, and I don't know what she was thinking. I don't know how she will make this right, but I hope she does. I don't agree with her actions, but I also would hate for this to kill her career. Tim and Faith are awesome, and they are the main reason I got into country music at all.
