Title: Thanksgiving What?
Description: Let me know how you feel!
DJ babblefish - November 21, 2006 06:10 AM (GMT)
Personally, this always bothers me! I don't know if it's because I'm bitter due to the fact that I was born on thanksgiving and therefore associate thanksgiving as a celebration of me or what... All I know is that Halloween is FAR too early for Christmas business!
Oh yeah.. :thanksgiving: :grouphug:

Thanksgiving deserves more attention, I agree.
But no, it's always (insert Jan Brady whine) Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!
:D :thanksgiv1:
Happy Early Birthday DJ!!

At my local craft store they are pushing Christmas as well. I went in there a couple of weeks ago to get some deco stuff for Thanksgiving. All they had was Christmas deco. Nothing for Thanksgiving. They went straight from Halloween to Christmas. What gives? :thanksgiving:
Happy Birthday, DJ! :bounce:

Yep, I wish the retailers would give Thanksgiving its due. I also could not find any Thanksgiving decorations in my local discount store. My neighbor even has his Christmas decorations up outside already. Yikes!
:birthday3: DJ
and a :thanksgiving: to all etrainers.

I love Thanksgiving. I love that it isn't as commercialized as Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentine's Day, etc.. and it is primarily a time for sharing food, laughter, conversation, football and thanks with family and friends. How refreshing!

Even if it isnt commercialized.. just ya know.. chill for a minute with the christmas stuff.

I love Thanksgiving too! It deserves more attention, but then I don't want it to become commercialized, either! Happy Birthday, DJ!
:birthday2: :thanksgiving: :birthday3: :thanksgiving: :friends:

I think that there should be more emphasis on Thanksgiving, but that there should also be some preparation for Christmas as well. It's only sad for me because it's the other way around. Even if they were simply equals at this time, I would be happier.
And yet still, it doesn't bother me too badly.

Both get their fair share of attention I believe.
.
I Prefer Thanksgiving over Christmas,.. other than the cooking it is just more relaxing .
I don't have rush around and buy presents for people that they probably won't like..lol . :)
So yes, we sit around and stuff ourselves, have some wine, catch up, tell some stories, watch some football, play boardgames.
Much better than Christmas. :)

I find having Thanksgiving with friends is nicer than with your intermediate family. That is how it should be. like the Indians and Pilgrims, have dinner with new found friends, and avoid the family gathering nightmares.
My friend's Synagogue had an interfaith service with an Episoicilian Church last night. Two faiths joining and celebrating with each other. Now that has REAL meaning!

eh Thanksgiving doesn't thrill me at all... I'm just not a food person.

Here's what to do with leftover Turkey. Get a frozen cheeze pizza, get some veggies like green peppers, and slice the Turkey in to small strips.
it is so good!!! Roasted Turkey Pizza! :D

First off... DJ I have raelly missed ya girl.
Secondly, I am one of those Holiday fanatics....I started decorating a week BEFORE thanksgiving this year. LOL
I like starting it early. I don't like the fact that the holiday is so commercialized, but I kind of like the stores displaying these during T-giving time because of decorating early I always find myself needing to dash out and get something I need.
For me, Christmas is not a day....it starts for me right around Thanksgiving and does not end until the day after NYE. I like to give and be kind all year, but something about Christmas time I just love and I celebrate it heavily from T-giving to New Years. I decorate a little bit more each weekend, I try to arrange for get togethers with friends and wtih work peers....I like to attend Holiday shows, concerts, ballets.....I like the shopping for a month or so ahead and wrapping...
I love Thanksgiving as well. I love turkey and normally only have it twice a year...Thanksgiving and Chritmas. I like the cooking as I normally don't cook a lot all year long (my husband does all the cooking except at Holiday time then I take over LOL). And I like this HOliday as it is time when I have been really busy to APPRECIATE my loved ones. Not that I don't all yaer, but I really contemplate who they are and how much I love them the entire day. And words cannot express how much I appreciated that little cutie in my avatar that day. She is my world! Our own kids are precious but there is nothing like a grandbaby.
I just love this time of year!!!!
OH GREAT. "Had a Bad Day" just came on. I was already verklempt thinking about my wee one and now this?
Let me go cry for about an hour and then I'll be back.

That sounds SO good, I don't know why I hadn't ever thought of that before! You can have my cheese, though! I'm pretty sure that I'm the only person on the face of the planet who DOESN'T want cheese on my pizza! :rocker: Thanks for the suggestion! :glomp: :D

I hate thanksgiving for what it stands for.
Us coming over and giving the natives a nice dose of small pox on blankets
ThankYouElliott - December 1, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
Well, that's certainly one way to look at it.
