Title: My Gingerbread House

DoxieChickLuvsE - November 25, 2006 02:38 AM (GMT)
I have been working like a bear lately and not a lot of free time, but i have been squeezing time in to work on one of my hobbies...dollhouse and miniatures.

I built a Gingerbread House out of plywood. It is taking shape nicely and I am now putting in electricity. Wanted to share how it looks thus far. Exterior is almost done and I have begun decorating the interior. The inside will be a santa's workshop complete with Elves, lots of presents, toys and ... Santa Himself!

I didn't use shingles and instead used Joint Compound on the roof to resemble frosting. It worked PERFECTLY. You can't see the detail in the pics but it dried looking just like creamy white frosting and i put the plastic candies in it while still wet so they are secured.

After a long day at work, working on this is so relaxing even tho the actual cutting sanding and nailing together was hard work LOL

Dox! I've missed ya, hope all is well! That house is so awesome. I can't wait to see/hear more about the inside. Do you do this just as a fun hobby, or have you ever entered in any kind of competitions?

DoxieChickLuvsE - November 25, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
Emjay, i do this as a hobby but once upon a time I entered one in competitions. I have since sold it as i moved to a house without a lot of room for awhile (could kick myself i want it back LOL)> Won a lot of ribbons on that one, it was huge and i put real brick siding on it, asphalt shingles the works.

here is a sneak peek of the inside. Work in progress for sure. Window or door trim is not up and some glue not dry yet on the door glass.....this is a part of the living room.

I MISS YOU GUYS TOO! This is always my busiest time of year at work and at home!
