I'm getting married this coming May. My fiance and I are both vet students and are on a limited budget. I wanted to honeymoon in France, however it's looking like my fiance would actually have to pimp me out if we wanted to be able to afford that (and I'm not sayin' that's not an option...) :blink:

Does anyone have any affordable and fun honeymoon ideas? Although we both like the beach, we don't really see ourselves laying out on a beach for our time together; we're more interested in doing and seeing things. My ideal honeymoon would be Australia, but of course that's nowhere near possible at this point in our lives. We've also discussed possibly traveling across the US, but neither of us came up with anything solid.

Any suggestions?

France, beaches?? How about North Carolina or Florida in May?

Hostels are really affordable, and some have private rooms. You have to book them in advance.

You can save on money with hostels, and avoiding pricey restaurants, since they have kitchens where you can make your own meals.

I love to stay at hostels, because I get to meet so many interesting people from the all over the globe.

Vancouver, BC is beautiful, too!! Kayaking, great hiking, and beautiful scenery. You are going to want to move there, warning.

Thanks for the info. I actually had just been looking through some online sites that talked about using hostels to save money. However, I take it they don't have the honeymoon suite a la hostel style .... ^_^

What about going to a FrenchCanadian destination in lieu of actual France? That might be more affordable ...

Thank you guys for all of the ideas and for the links too (thanks Gypsy!). I've left my fiance in charge of honeymoon planning ... cue the silence and the dropped jaws ..... He's definitely not on the ball with this. I inquired the other day about what information he had obtained so far, and he said, "Oooh, you want me to look up the information? I thought you were going to give me all of the inforamtion to sift through." :headsmack:

As smart as he is, I sometimes wonder if his aunt dropping him on his head when he was little caused him to suffer some minor damage to the logic and common sense compartments of his brain. ^_^
