Title: Photoshopped: Our Distorted Perception Of Beauty
Description: Dove's Campaign

So, I saw this on TV a while back and it really struck me. It's a video called "Evolution" brought to you by Dove and their campaign for real beauty. It shows an average looking woman transformed by 8 hours of hair and makeup and then made unidentifiable by photoshop. The part that really got me was when they elongated her neck and made her eyes bigger. Check it out and make sure you share it with others. I think it's important that people, particularly teen and pre-teen girls have a real understanding of the distorted picture of beauty that is thrust upon us.

"Evolution"

Thanks for sharing. It's very sad that so many women feel less than beautiful even though they ARE!

So what is the message from Dove with this? It does not seem that the video would deter anyone from wanting to go the lengths of a makeover. WHo would rather look like the before picture then teh after? I am trying to figure out the message that was supposed to carry but I am not quite sure.... they never come right out and say that the message is a distorted view of beauty. If i didn't know any better I might think they are saying their products can make this transformation.

I agree DC. Why not just keep advertising with everyday women?

Personally, I rather end up with Judge Judy's demeanor and brains rather than look like a super model.
