Title: New Year's Eve
lindagt - December 30, 2006 01:20 AM (GMT)
What's everyone doing on New Years Eve? My hubby is working, so I'm home alone as usual. I usually don't go out because it's so crazy, but staying home doing nothing doesn't seem right either. What's your happy medium?

I guess I'm a Fuddy Duddy, Linda, because every year I stay home and play on the computer and watch TV until 11:20 or so when hubby gets home from work. We then have a glass of champagne and some snacks and watch the Times Square ball drop on TV, kiss each other at Midnight and tell each other happy new year! Usually a few minutes after 12k, one or both daughters call from wherever they are to tell me happy new year. Then we go to bed. It suits me fine, though. It's become sort of a tradition, odd as that sounds. :newyear3:

That sounds like me - but I felt kind of odd. I felt surely that people did more exciting thing! :P

I’ve got the flu (missed my flu vaccination this year).
I’m feeling a little better today and am getting some energy back. Last night I noticed that there is a huge dust bunny living under my computer table. It has since rolled out and is now attempting to mate with one of my glass slippers.
Call me CinderellaMay. CinderellaMay you are not going to any ball this year. You are going to remove all traces of dust bunnies from this house.

New Year's Eve is usually quiet here. Just me, hubby and the boys. I'll have some champagne and make some munchies for the kids. We'll watch Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve. There's usually a Twilight Zone marathon on also. I like to catch my favorite episodes of that. :newyear2:

New Year's Eve is always a special time for me because it's my birthday.
When I was a little girl I used to think all the hoopla was for me alone.
Then as I got older I kind of resented that I always got a cake that said
"Happy Birthday, Cathy" and "Happy New Year's"
But now I love it.
We always spend the evening with my sis and her family and a few friends.
Every year one of 3 couples hosts. Since I did Christmas and Thanksgiving this year, I am glad it's not my turn this yr.
I just get to sit back, and enjoy the fuss made over me while everyone sings Happy Birthday before the clocks strikes 12.
Plus this yr. is a biggie--- I am turning 50! So, happy birhtday to me...
:newyear2: :newyear4: TO ALL!

I'll probably drop in here at the ETrain to say Happy New Year! Wonder what Elliott and Jaime are doing for New Year's Eve?

For the past few years we have always got together with two other couples, taking turns at each other's houses. It's our turn tomorrow.
We usually have plenty to drink, and at midnight we turn on the TV for the chimes of Big Ben, and watch the fireworks by the Thames, and open the champagne.
For years though, when the children were young, my husband and I spent the evening on our own, but still had the drink and champagne! I always enjoyed those evenings too.
Hope you all have a very Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday to chattycb!
