I wrote to Lite98 here in Richmond, after reading in the newspaper that it planned to play other songs from the new AI CD, starting today, and after hearing the DJ promote the new AI CD. :no:

So, spins for the other songs will be coming from Elliottville! Booooooooo.

Here's the email:

"Hey Bill,

I would like to request that you NOT play other songs from the American Idol CD unless you get a specific request for a particular song/artist, and that you NOT advertise or promote that CD.

Elliott’s MMFL is already listed on the charts for rising new singles, based on spins. If you play the others on that CD, it will seem as if they are in the same league as Elliott, and they simply are not.

MMFL will also be available on iTunes tomorrow. Downloading that ONE SONG will also place Elliott into the charts based on numbers of downloads. Buying the AI CD will not single Elliott out as the reason it is being bought.

I don’t know if you’re aware of how slighted Elliott was by the AI public relations machine, but they really were quite unfair to him. Elliott’s insistence on sticking to HIS kind of music sealed his fate in the end (in addition to being given songs to sing that were not his “thing”), BUT few even knew who he was other than the Tuesday night performances. Good example is Elliott being omitted completely from the TV Guide issue of May 8th as if he didn’t exist. Only Daughtry, McPhee, and Hicks were shown on a two-page spread when Elliott was in the top four at that time. There are many other examples…interviews with Simon Fuller, Simon Cowell, Clive Davis, Nigel Lythgoe, etc. all omitting any mention of Elliott’s name as they were discussing the contest and who would win with national media outlets, some overtly stating he “can’t win.” But, the point here is that we would like to demonstrate Elliott’s REAL appeal to the world outside of the American Idol bubble that Elliott will, hopefully, soon be FREE of.

You have been so supportive of Elliott, and, hopefully, that is because you truly see his talent and the gift he has brought to the world with his voice, and not simply because he is from Richmond. I really appreciate that and the risks you have taken to play his music. I ask that you continue that support by NOT supporting the other contestants on that show in giving them play time and by NOT supporting American Idol in promoting the CD."

I heard that too. I also wrote to Bill this morning asking him to notify the Richmond public of our download campaign from I-Tunes on Tuesday. I'll bet he reads the email in the morning. Shelly fell in love with E when he visited the station - i think I'll send her the link to this board. (She'd probably enjoy the Thud thread :thud: )

Hmm, it's 5:48 CST and it's "I Just Wanna Be Your Everything". Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the post said 6:45 EST, which would be 5:45 CST. I don't know why I'm so obsessed when I have everything he ever sang downloaded anyway! I think it's just the THRILL of hearing him on the RADIO! *LOL* :D

I know it's Delilah and she's not likely to play Elliott, but I need to know if they shut off the stream for her show, of if I need to fix something on my computer! Thanks! :D

Hi Rutti - I'm back and saw your post. Thank you for the compliment. I'm happy to do this. Others are doing it also (or at least some have said they are). Of all things, our newspaper is now dealing with COMPLAINTS about having Elliott's photo or articles about him on our FRONT PAGE for three recent issues...sigh. I guess people would like to read about murders, wars, mayhem, and Barbaro's broken leg on the THREE days that Elliott took over this city. Golly, what's wrong with people? In any case, the editorial page is filled with angry responses to those who have complained, defending to the end one of our own.

Yes, the Delilah show is on the 98.1 here in Richmond, so that's what you'll get on streaming radio. It's the only syndicated show we have on our local station. Elliott is played on 98.1 from early morning until 7:00 PM every weekday.

Please everyone, REQUEST Elliott's MMFL from all of YOUR local stations. You can also call Delilah and request it too...if she played it, it would get hundreds of spins credited to Elliott in ONE PLAY all over the country (you can think of some mushy story to say to get her to play it, right?) :D

Right now, it has said "Your stream will begin momentarily." for about 5 or 10 minutes. *hmm* Either too many people from all over the country are trying to listen at the same time, or I need to figure out what is going on with my computer. Well, in the meantime, I will go about contacting the local radio stations where I live about playing MMFL. Even though I am scared to do this, because I am always ignored or rebuked whenever I try to contact a radio station, I will do ANYTHING for Elliott! :yes:

Oh! If Lite 98 is currently playing "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon, then the stream is working again! It MUST have been too much traffic, and nothing to do with my computer being messed up! Yay! :D :D
