Title: ? about 5-23-06 and MMFL being #1

Gracelynn - May 22, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
Look I love E, but I have some questions

Has anyone heard from Crowe or Amanda about ordering tomorrow ?

Why do I ask ?

1) If we did make MMFL #1 will AI and Clive keep him ? Do we want that for Elliott ?does Elliott ?

2) Now it sounds like 19 wants him and I am worried that that would be bad for E ?
Why do I say this

hanging around the boards(AI), the media coverage maybe I am wrong but there is this Vibe I am getting put it up to women intitution

3) Can anyone check around and see what E and his family want?

Personally I think it would be great if we made MMFL # 1 the day his contract ended with AI and 19 and they don't pick him up. I want to show my support .I am really conflicted on what is best for E?

Personally AI and 19 scare me especially after that post from before Ace left. Someone so hit the nail on the head. That means they shouldn't pick up E but maybe they would if they think they can get money from him Or to stop E from getting money and popularity away from them.

Lord, I sound parnoid but I feel that way can anyone see what the family might want? Please and if anything has changed since last posts. I just want to do what best for E.

and if I am nuts please feel free to add that too. If the family wants us to will be glad to be downloading as much as I can MMFL.

The supposed "talent scout" from Universal Urban said that our efforts would not hurt him, since those who are interested are already interested. I think E would be flattered if this worked.

I think getting MMFL to #1 can only help. I don't think even his family can know what 19 is really thinking. Getting MMFL to the top of the charts shows that E is marketable when that subject has been discussed ad nauseum. This takes it out of theory and into reality. What happens as a result is anybody's guess. 19 might decide they can make some money off of him and keep him. If so, they want the CD to sell, they've seen what's happened with others, I don't think they would completely dampen E's spirit although probably others would do a better job. And we found that Clive Davis is only responsible on the business end. He will not have control over the artistic content so we don't need to worry about that. Or they can release him, sooner or later, hopefully sooner, and we'll get a CD we really love. Either way, we get an Elliott CD. Just can't see how ignoring MMFL's release in hopes of not hurting his chances at success could possibly help E in any way.

ITA with this.

There's nothing to lose imo, so why not? If 19e does sign it, look on the bright side: guarnteed CD at least.

Here is a thought. I know we have focused on 19E today, but think back to when Elliott first sang this song and Simon commented on it.

Simon loved the performance but said (and I paraphrase): You can't win a show like this with a song like that. Your voice is going to nail everybody, now you've got to nail somebody with a song that is better than that.

Now I know Simon was referencing AI, but wouldn't it be sweet revenge if the song to hit #1 off of the cd was Elliott's MMFL? For so many of us, that amazing song (along with the singer) was forever imprinted on our brain and a defining moment for Elliott.

I'm getting this song tomorrow. This will show possible record labels who are interested in him that he has a big fanbase who's willing to buy his song. I can't really see this being a bad thing. Yes, 19E might turn their heads and could offer him a contract but he does have the option to say no.

Well, actually, not so much. As I understand it, the AI contract states that the contestants are obligated to sign with them if they make an offer. That is, unless someone is able to buy them out of their contract as supposedly Fuel has said they would do for Chris. Anyone have an extra 5 mil hanging around?

I think it would only help-- if anything, it sends a clear message to 19 that we are supporting E's genre and not the generic pop sound they may try to force him into.

To have a #1 single is amazing- but if 19 still doesn't believe he is marketable, I doubt they would try to lock him to sign- we all know about 1 hit wonders- so a #1 single doesn't make you the hottest thing out there, but it does help in future negotiations and name recognition.

Also, Fuel is on BMG or RCA records I believe, so it is all in the family, I doubt they would need to buy him out of a contract- it just depends how the higher ups work things out...
