Copying this info from IDF since they have kick ass instructions and their Blender area is top notch. I will be adding links to this page too. I'm getting permissions to link them.

The Low Down
Welcome to Imagery Discussion! Yay! Below are the most frequently asked questions in the forum. If, for any reason, you have a problem with the description (IE, It doesnt work for you), just post about it, and someone will do their best to help you. Good Luck!

----------

How do I get my blend to show up in my signature/How do I make a signature?
Signature and Avatar Rules
Step One: Upload your image to the internet, try Imageshack or Photobucket (or anywhere else you know of)
Step Two:[click] Right click on the image and go to Properties.
Step Three: [click] Copy the Address (URL).
Step Four: At the top of this page, click on 'My Controls'. Then, on the left side of the page, select (Under Personal Settings), 'Edit Signature'.
Step Five: [click] Click on the 'IMG' button and then enter the entire URL of the image.
Then, click 'Update my Signature'

----------

How do I make/get a Blend?
Make a Blend
To make a blend, most blenders use either Paint Shop Pro (PSP) or Photoshop (PS). Both are very pricey, PSP being more affordable, but lots of people prefer PS. Try free-trials before you purchase.

Request A Blend
If making a blend is not your thing, request a blend here.

----------

What are blinkies/How do I make blinkies?
This: user posted image is a blinkie.

They are made with many programs, including Animation Shop, which is extremely user friendly.

Making a simple blinkie in Animation Shop
Step One: [click] After you have made your image in your image program, copy and paste it as a 'New Animation' in Animation Shop.
Step Two: Then, change the font color/what you want to blink back in your image program, then paste it 'After Current Frame' in Animation Shop.
Then, save it! You have a blinkie now!
->To change the time that each frame flashes for, right click on the frame, go to 'Frame Properties' and edit the number.

Putting a Blinkie in my signature
Easy! Just follow the instructions for adding a blend to your signature.

----------

How do I download and install fonts?

Downloading Fonts
Downloading fonts is as easy as clicking the link and saving the file, but there are usually lots of questions on common fonts
Some commonly used fonts include:

Baby Kruffy
Base 02
Delarge Marker Pen
Desyrel
Hour Photo (Used to make Filmstrips)
New Romantics
Scriptina
Will & Grace
.....For more fonts, see the Font Bible

Installing Fonts

Windows XP
Once you download the font, go Control Panel>Fonts>File>Install New Font. Then find the path to the font you saved, and hit OK.

----------

What are textures and how do I use them?
Textures are just 'backgrounds' or collages of many images. patterns and gradients all swacked together and effected, and they are used on graphics to create depth and effects.

Using Textures
No matter what program you are using, just copy and paste the texture on top of your graphic and change the 'Blend Setting', to something like overlay or screen, or change the opacity.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DOWNLOAD A TEXTURE, JUST COPY AND PASTE IT.

Finally...
Be creative! If you are not completely sure how to do something, try it! Edit>Undo is your best friend!

I hope that this helped! If you have a question, just post in Imagery Discussion! Good Luck

Thanks to those of you who keep you image file sizes small. I saw an avatar around here the other day that was about 250K -- that really hurts on a dial-up connection!
