Title: Grammy Performances
Description: the good ones

Well, since I started the negative thread about the RHCP, I thought I'd self-balance by starting a positive thread.
John Legend, Corrine Bailey Rae, and John Mayer were remarkable. I though all 3 gave great performances. I was especially impressed with how well Corrine is able to blend her voice into the other songs, without overpowering. I may have to get her album (I already have both of the Johns' CDs).
And Cee-lo's Crazy was great. I really liked the effect of slowing it to more of a march tempo. I really think this should have gotten song of the year.
But enough with the Dixie Chicks already!

I agree with you what you said. I also thought that Carrie was fabulous! :rocker: And I *swooned* when Lionel Richie was singing "Hello", I just couldn't help it! :thud:

Christina Aguilera delivered a knock out grammy performance. I was way impressed. Now it is fabulous to see her showcase her talent and not try to compete with the tabloid sleazo's anymore. She is no Paris or Brit and should never have sunk to those lows.
I noticed a very impressed look on Jamie Foxx's face as she was finishing up that performance. I bet he was thinking "man white girl can SAAANNNNNG"
LOL
yes, enough of the Dixie Chicks already! They are okay but not THAT magnificent!
Who was that black guy, the heavy set guy who sang that one song...dang it can't remember the name of it now! had an old time sound to it..anyone know what song and who i am talking about? I LOVE that song and he was ALSO GReAT!
wowhesgood - February 12, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
Was it me or did Jamie Foxx have a ticked off look on his face most of the evening?
ThankYouElliott - February 12, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
Christina can definitely SANG! I was majorly impressed! :rocker:
wowhesgood - February 12, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
Yep, she's impressed me lately. I downloaded one of her Christmas songs on my Christmas mix and I was floored everytime I heard it!
DoxieChickLuvsE - February 12, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
The best part of the grammy's was when i heard "Hi I am Elliott yamin"...
And it was E's homecoming commercial for Richmond!
lindagt - February 12, 2007 11:07 PM (GMT)
Performances that impressed me were
John, John and Corrine (I bought the two John's for my son but am thinking I need them for myself and I definitely need Corinne)
Mary J - dang she is really special and I was so proud that Elliott got to sing with her on Idol
Christina - just wow
Chris Brown's dancing if not his singing
The power of the message behind the Ludacris song with Mary J
Carrie - impressed the heck out of me and she still can't walk and sing at the same time
And yes, enough with the Dixie Chicks already. And yes to Jamie Foxx with the attitude.

Ditto to everything you said Linda. I especially liked John Mayer and Corinne Bailey Rae. Chris Brown can dance his ass off; just wow!
Carrie Underwood has really blossomed into her own and looks so comfortable with herself.
Red Hot Chili Peppers were fun to watch (Anthony is easy on my eyes). I missed Sting/Police performance at the beginning.
Oh and Jamie Foxx said something like "that was terrific" after Christina's performance. I just don't care for her hair or abundance of makeup.

Oh, I missed Sting/Police, too. Hopefully it will also be on YouTube.

Surprisingly underwhelming TYE and I confess to being a Sting "fangirl" for many years. I was really looking forward to this - but it just seemed like a middleaged version of Roxanne - and Sting wasn't doing the high notes last night.
Still - in all, when they go on tour - I will probably try to see them.

That's too bad. I had always liked them, too.

I loved John, Corinne and John's performance. I was singing along the whole time lol
Christina was also great! I just didn't like the scream/shrill she did but other than that it was great.
I also liked both of Mary J's performances (the solo and the one with Ludacris).

Christina was amazing--what pipes she has!!!!
I believe the heavy set man you are referring to is Cee-lo Green of Gnarls Barkley--the song "Crazy"started in the center stage and moved up to the main stage. Everybody wore military uniforms and they slowed the beat of the song to a march. If that is who you mean, then yah he was awesome. I love his voice!
ThankYouElliott - February 12, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
Thank you! People kept referring to Cee-lo's "Crazy" and I was totally clueless. I kept wanting to ask, don't you mean Gnarls Barkley? :rotfl: I'm a bit clueless sometimes. :rotfl: :rocker:

Christina is amazing. Truly amazing. After last night's performance I wonder what other female singer can top her sometimes. Brilliant.
Loved John/Corinne/John. Didn't know the songs very well but I really enjoyed the performance. John Legend's voice is gorgeous! mm mm.
Carrie- I really really really enjoyed also. I've always loved her and last night was no exception! She looked totally relaxed. I loved 'Desperado'. annd Rascal Flatts performing 'Hotel California' was pretty good too. overall the whole night was fantastic.
ThankYouElliott - February 13, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
I absolutely love Rascall Flatts, but I would almost have to say that Carrie outsang them last night! But they were BOTH great!

Did you guys know that the gal who sang with JT had made it to Hollywood for Idol, but bowed out when she got the chance for the live grammy contest? She said on one of the entertainment shows tonight that she had auditioned in Texas - and would have been there this week for Hollywood round.
GypsyNFla - February 13, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
Wow Linda, I didn't know that; interesting. I guess that was a smart move on her part to have the grammy chance.
Her name was Robyn Troup. I know all three of their names, because I'd been voting for one of the other girls (Brenda Radney) trying to win the chance to sing with JT.
ThankYouElliott - February 13, 2007 03:44 AM (GMT)
I did not know that. I'm glad that she got the chance.

Gnarls Barkley, Dox?
