AbsolutElliott - May 23, 2006 02:18 AM (GMT)
what are the most popular stations. I think if we all request at the same stations they have to take notice. but i dont know how effective i am asking my local stations if Im the only one asking. So what are the big NY, LA, etc. stations?

Okay- based on the last released Arbitron ratings- these are the top stations in the top 4 markets... I've taken out a lot of stations that wouldn't apply to E-- with the exception of WGCI I think the rest of the stations would give E a shot if feedback was there.

Keep in mind- program directors go off of listener feedback and record label input [after all-- most of these stations are Clear Channel!]

Not sure where everyone on this board is from- but if you know anything about the city or the DJ's, feel free to include it- that will give a hometown listener vibe to your requests.

I think it's a great idea to focus on the top markets because it gains audience attention- however, smaller towns and cities elsewhere are also excellent places to make your voice heard- smaller stations sometimes have more flexibility in altering their playlists as well-- and a spin on any station counts as a spin-- both on MediaBase and Billboard- which will be key to giving MMFL so longevity so E stays in the picture while he's on tour.

Also, don't feel like you need to spend all day e-mailing, over time, if we are persistent, hopefully the stations will begin to notice.

Hope this helps! :cheerleader: :bunny:

I am making this my research project for the evening. I'm checking the playlists for the top FM stations of the 5 largest metropolitan areas, finding the e-friendly stations and providing e-mail addresses. Please check my thread entitled list 'Compiled List Top City...'

I have access to a media database, and I have an excel file with all of the adult contemporary, R&B, lite rock, jazz, smooth jazz, etc. stations in the country, along with phone numbers and email addresses. They are organized by state and format.

If anyone is interested in a copy of this spreadsheet, let me know and I can email it to you (not sure if I can upload an excel file on this board somehow -- if anyone knows let me know!).

I just finished compiling a list of the top 4 Radio Markets in the country with the Top Listening Audiences (per Arbitron ratings). Its pinned in this folder.

That's great! But I figured if people wanted a list of stations in their local area or state, they could check out the spreadsheet. Just throwing it out there -- it's available if anyone wants to check it out.
