Title: Promoting Elliott
Description: A list of easy-to-do activities

alienhamster - February 15, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
Hey E-train! Have you done all you can to promote Elliott's debut single and CD?

In an effort to centralize all of the wonderful suggestions made by E-trainers throughout this website, this thread will pull together the different activities we can do to promote Elliott's music. Our primary efforts will target the following: increasing sales, maximizing radio airplay, creating buzz on the internet and elsewhere, and getting Elliott charted as much and as high as possible.

The top post of this thread will be re-edited as we come up with new strategies for promoting Elliott, so visit here often. Everyone is welcome to post new ideas downthread, and the mods and I will try to update and integrate them into the top post as efficiently as possible. Moreover, fans are encouraged to post their successes and achievements in employing these suggestions downthread. It will only encourage others to do more.

If you have other suggestions about how best to organize our efforts on this site, please visit and post in this thread: http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8914

So, E-train . . . Let's get to work!!!!

****************************
Maximizing Radio Airplay

E-mail and call radio stations in your area and request "Movin' On" now! (And request "Wait for You" as soon as we know it's been released to radio stations.) Go to this thread for advice on whom to contact and how often:
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=914

Post feedback from stations and airplay here:
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8997

Increasing Sales

Buy Elliott's CD: http://z4.invisionfree.com/Etrain/index.php?showtopic=8893

Purchase the teaser single, "Movin' On" : http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8995

Tag Elliott at Amazon.com to increase the number of searches Elliott appears in for customer searches. Go here for the how-to:http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8919

And go here for further information on tagging :
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8873

Consider buying Elliott alongside other popular artists to increase his "Customers buying _______ also bought Elliott Yamin" rating: http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=9018

And for those of you planning to buy multiple copies: Make sure to buy a few copies right after an official debut to maximize his debut chart position, but to also spread out remaining purchases over a few weeks to help Elliott maintain a high chart position.

Creating Buzz

Add intelligent, positive comments about Elliott on blogs, newspapers, and other websites throughout the web. Check out the most recent Elliott mentions on the web, with places to comment, here: http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8758

Write an on-line review for Elliott: http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=9046

Vote in Polls that matter: http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showforum=38

Comment on, favorite, and rate Elliott videos on sites like youtube, especially right after they debut, to bump them up to the front page: http://www.youtube.com/ {try different searches for Elliott Yamin}

Add Elliott's music to your myspace page: http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=9042

Great idea! This is exactly the kind of thing we need to hear in this thread. I'll try to incorporate it as I add links above. (This will be an on-going process. This site is huge!)

I've got Movin On on myspace, too along with alot of Other Music Artists I've been collecting as friends!! :woohoo:

ThankYouElliott - February 15, 2007 08:29 PM (GMT)

I'm really going to get to work on my MySpace, make it cool-looking. Yeah, I know, I KEEP saying that...

Can someone who is "myspace-savvy" spell out things you can do to add E to myspace pages, to make him more "connected" in the myspace world? Please start a separate thread on this so that I can link to it.

I mentioned this before so now that there's this thread I guess I'll repeat it...on Yahoo, daily, they put up the top searched items on the front page...McPhee's been there a coupla times...if everyone blitzed, E could get there too.

I think this is worth a try. Would you be willing to coordinate the effort for it, Sherwood? We should just pick a day/week to "yahoo bomb" the search engine. When's the best time to do it?

Hmm, good one. We should be strategic. Maybe the day before the single comes out would be best, although it could be done once a week... maybe on the weekend when a lot of people have time for the Internet and would see it. If we did it every Friday, I guess it would show up on a Saturday. What do you think?

Sure I would be willing to organize it, what would that take? Going to all the well-travelled threads to tell everybody? Maybe a site-wide PM (although some might consider that an invasion of privacy of some sort). Maybe Mike could put reminders up at the top of the site.

I would also suggest searching 'Elliot' instead of 'Elliott'. Casual surfers might misspell the name, and if every searcher chose 'Elliott' instead the Elliots wouldn't show up, but it would count the other way around. Or am I wrong?

Unless the die-hard 'must spell the name right' people would object to that, and think there would be enough Elliotts anyways. I remember a while ago, Elliott was among the top 50 at Lycos, and he was Elliot there.

itslate - February 16, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
A "little" something I'm doing now.

Setting up my signature in my email to have an E icon and link to Movin On, so every time I send and forward jokes, or info it will be placed in my signature. Easily done with my aol and outlook mail.

Of course jokes get much circulation on the WWW.

Eyess2NKiss - February 16, 2007 02:36 PM (GMT)
Sherwood, how about having a reminder thread "pinned" up top of "The Man" forum, or whichever one Mike or a mod chooses? It could state which day of the week and time.

If it was permanently pinned, people might forget to do it when the time came...I was thinking to blink it on just the day before or something like that.

What do you think of doing it every Friday, Eyes? Too much? The time doesn't matter; if it's the same day, it comes out the next day as one of the top searches.

Eyess2NKiss - February 16, 2007 03:04 PM (GMT)
Sure, that'll be fine!! Make it a big announcement as possible prior, so that everyone gets it!! Much like the Moosak ladies used to do!! PUSH, PUSH!! (Now I'm starting to sound like giving birth!! )

Hi There,

This is something that will most likely end up in the Affiliate Sites Forum.

If I can get some "authors" to create the "How To" content, I will pin there.

If posters areen't noticing it, we'll start a thread in News & Updates, and ultimately any Promo Forum that gets going.

As you can see, Nanassetta has already graciously written up an explanation of "tagging" and how to do it at Amazon.

But, yes, I agree that a MySpace Tech Support thread will greatly assist the Elliott faithful.

Hi guys!

The following is printed with the permission of RockEManSoul. I had sent a pm asking how other sites managed upcoming appearances and events:

.
One of the boards that I visit has a great way to keep important updates all in one place. They have a pinned thread called " The Focus Thread" that is only for copying news and important or worthy of notice posts into. They have a different member each day that volunteers for one day a week to read the main threads and copy over things that someone in a hurry would not want to miss. It can be news, articles, photos, contests, polls that Elliott needs help with, or recaps by fans who went to concerts or other appearances. There may also be a daily report on his radio spins and progress or a heads up about a CD signing gig. You get the idea I'm sure.

I'd love to see a thread like that here. At my other board they start a new Focus thread each week on Sunday and when I check in from work or don't have much time to read all the chatter, I can just read the focus thread and be all caught up.

I hope this sounds like something you might consider and I hope I answered your question sufficiently

Okay, so I don't know if our board "software" will easily allow us to do the same. But, what I liked is that one person volunteers to cull through the posts to find the nuggets of information that shouldn't be missed. And, it is a "view-only" type of thread for reference only, not comment.

A good vehicle for this is Livejournal. I frequent a LJ-comm that does this for the NBC Series Heroes. The AI community on LJ is somewhat active, especially during the airing of the season...

Does that sound attractive to anyone?

That sounds very cool. Are you thinking someone would just start that and we'd link to it from this forum? Seems like we could also link up to all the other AI livejournal folks, too, so that could pay off big dividends. We just need someone to take charge there . . .

Feel welcome to start a separate thread on this in the promo forum if you want to get more feedback from folks.

(And BTW, I'm a Heroes fan too, other than the split-personality storyline WHICH JUST DRAGS on and on. But Hiro is my hero . . .)

Lene - February 20, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
I think LJ has the option for a journal to have an RSS feed so we could just link to that. I'd have to check it out.

I think it'd probably work better as an RSS feed or newsletter...something like that, but that is just me.

Elliott radio play is the most important aspect of our mission now. By increasing the amount of spins that Elliott has on radio will push Elliott up the mediabase chart and put Elliott back on the jump chart. There is a way we fans can accomplish this but it will take dedication from all the fans.

A radio station is giving away spins for participating in putting in some clicking time for Elliott's song on a write in ballet. This station is giving away one spin an hour. If we get just 5 spins a day we could bring in Elliott 35 more spins for the week pushing Elliott up the chart. Right now Elliott is sitting @54 on mediabase for a week now.Increasing the amount of spins will take Elliott up the chart.

A massive effort should be taken by many fans because this is the ony outlet that can insure an increase in spins for Elliott. The E-Trainers, i -Squad and Moosak Sistas should make this a high priority in their schedule.

Don't know if this is the right place to put this...but some of the ways that I'm trying to get everyone to recognize ELLIOTT on my Myspace page...

When my page loads they first hear Elliott singing "Wait For You", I also have the "Wait For You" video, and I have the "Wait For You" lyrics scrolling.....so somehow, someway the viewers of my page is going to see or hear ELLIOTT!!

I found the "scroller" at this link http://www.metrolyrics.com/wait-for-you-ly...iott-yamin.html

On this page http://www.metrolyrics.com/elliott-yamin-lyrics.html there's a list of some of Elliott's other songs (you Do Not have to have a membership) and I believe most of the songs have the "lyric scroller"...all you have to do is copy the "embed words" in the blue box, below the scrolling box (from the link above) and then paste all of that on your myspace (when you "edit profile")....I just pasted it in the section that says "Who I'd like to meet"...after everything that I had written..It worked for me and I don't know that much about html's or whatevers...lol
Good Luck!!!!

My Newest addition to my myspace is "my demand" sticker, so everyone can "VOTE" to get Elliott to perform in my town.........and don't forget, you can also CREATE YOUR OWN!! (Got the idea from Josh Hoge's myspace)
....after you create your "sticker", go back to the page and click on "share" and it will take you to a page where you can sort of make it your own..copy the "embed" in the box at the end....then paste it when you "edit profile" on your myspace (I put mine it the "Music" section)

I almost forgot...the link to the DEMAND STICKER is the link that I have below...it's also my signature on here!

Each fan can promote Elliott at their local stations. i send in articles of Elliott on his career to my local Hot Ac station in my area.

I noticed that the Dj's would mention Amerian Idol news on the air and I never hear anything on Elliott Yamin.

I had hoped they would mention him but they never did..I decided I would send in articles of the news of Elliott's career. I sent in the information on Elliott singing in Washington on July 4th. My radio station is also part of our local paper. Elliott showed up in our local paper , a picture of him and a nice article about his appearance that would be in Washington July 4th.

recently I sent in the poll that Elliott came in first on Season 5 from USA Today Website by Ken Barnes, I copied it and pasted it and sent it out to the station.

Now they are commenting about Elliott and some wonderful words I might add..They are now including Elliott Yamin in their news on America Idol. When they play Wait For You they include his name and some news about him. I know it makes a difference and love the fact that Elliott is now getting some free promotion.

I would hope others would do the same and get some free promotion for Elliott. Each one of us can send in news articles to our local Dj's about Elliott and his career. :elliottcap:
