Title: Speculation

Did WW inspire Elliott to write "Movin On"?

From what I remember - that doesn't seem like the right scenario OOMM - but he did say it came from "personal experience" however long ago it was.

Rutti - February 24, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
I've wondered about that myself. All I really know is that they broke up. Many people just said that Elliott "dumped" her so he could be with Jaime, but I've wondered just what the real story was. Got to be much more to it than that.

Soccerma - February 24, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
That thought crossed my mind too, OOMM. But after listening to the words, I don't think so. Especially with the line "your best friend's at my door". I highly doubt if WW and Jaime were friends. They most likely never met. It's probably a prior relationship to WW.

Not A Former Relationship With AI, huh?

Well that too Eyes - I'll bet part of it was inspired by that relationship.

Cause Didn't He Only JUST start putting pen to paper through this past summer??

Curious Who The "Best Friend" Would Be Then In this case?

I personnaly thought the song may have had something to do with WW. Experiences inspire songs but not every lyric has to be true and mean something. In other words, the song could be loosely based on his relationship with WW but not every word in the song mean something such as "Best Friend at my Door".

Every time I hear that line, I think to myself I wish I was that best friend.

Anyway, I was kinda thinking it was about WW too. Guess we'll never know for sure unless he spills the beans. Some journalist needs to ask him that question directly. I'm nosy.

It's funny - I suggested this idea on another site and got shot down. I remember people commenting about how flirty WW was with the other Idols. She and Elliott had considered themselves to be friends, but Elliott is such a lover that I wonder if he was really interested and she was only "so-so" (hard to believe). Anyway, in an interview that Elliott did before the tour with Mandisa, he talked about his vacation day or two at Virginia Beach. He seemed so happy in the interview (it was the one where he talked about getting messages on the phone in his hotel room). He didn't seem like he was a guy who had just broken up, but I think time wise this was getting close to the time he met Jaime so he might have given WW an ultimatum - I think that he really might be so sweet that he left it up to her - she seemed a little put out, but she also seemed to adjust quickly. By the way WW, I love you too. You helped bring Elliott to us, you posted like crazy on the AI board (before folks like me even knew it existed and before many had even noticed Elliott). You were a true friend - you cried when he sang and I can really relate to that. I hope you are happy and well.

If the song isn't about a girl, I think the "best friend" might be interpreted as Sony ATV (Danny Strick).

Well a jounalist came as close as we'll ever hear last week when she asked him if the song was based on personal experience and he said "you could say that" which could mean a lot of things. I don't think this is something we will ever know - because Elliott is too much of a gentleman to say .

My own inclination is that this is NOT in any way based on the relationship prior to his current one - and that there IS an element of the relationship with AI imbedded in the lyrics. But that's just speculation, no more.

Elliott our enigma. He keeps us guessing and speculating on everything he does from choice of songs to choice of clothes. What is it about him? I, personally, hope he has a biography of some sort to answer some of questions about him (he's so interesting) before I die. Some people just wait too long to write their biographies.

imthesame - February 24, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
Before we die, lets all go to lots of Elliott concerts!! Can't wait for the CD and can't wait for a tour - hope to be able to attend some shows - this is keeping me alive!!

parsimmon - February 24, 2007 11:46 PM (GMT)
That sounds so morbid. I didn't mean it that way at all, I was just thinking, he's only 28 years old. And I'm old enough to be his mother, so ...I was hoping he wouldn't wait till he's my age to write his biography.

I knew what you meant Pars - we're the ones on the tight time frame ;)

He's certainly got an inspirational story to tell - so I can't imagine that someone won't be begging him to do a book before too long.

I thought about the song lyrics too. I write poetry so I'm drawn to lyrics right away. What is interesting that even though I found myself really wondering about the "story" behind the lyrics in "Movin' On", I also thought about myself and how I know my poems may be misinterpreted by someone that doesn't know me that well. What's important from a writer's perspective to me is that even though you the listener, reader may not know exactly the truth behind the words, do the words move you or inspire you? In my book as a poet that is what means the most to me. "Will I bless someone?", I like to ask of myself at times. A lot of times it's just "I hope I bless someone..."

I'm anxious to hear the lyrics to the other songs on Elliott's album. It is still fun to wonder about Elliott's thoughts behind the songs..... I hope on his cd that he writes a blurb about each song and what inspired it, or how it came to be.

DoxieChickLuvsE - February 26, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
I tend to agree with this Sleazak quote:

Thankfully, Elliott's in great voice on lead single "Movin' On," a kiss-off to a fickle lover that could just as easily be interpreted as a message to all those major-label execs who failed to snatch him up after his third-place finish on Idol's fifth season.

I agree, carolinablueskies. I loved how he made a little comment about each song that was previewed on AOL. I was hoping he would do the same for the rest of the songs on the cd.

I personally believe E talks about his relationship with AI and its recording executives in "Movin on." I speculate...perhaps, our E wanted to do the deal HIS way, one which guarantee his creative efforts and one that protect his songs. In short, he wanted a deal in his terms. But those arrogant AI execs didn't agree and brushed him away instead. So E said he can;t be around all the time for AI; he won't always be "down" and AI might find him gone (by the time it agrees to E's terms). Then E said he's moving on and add that AI is missing on a good thing for sure....

it's only another speculation, btw...it just fits perfectly to me!
