Title: Why does this board freeze up so much?
WaveRider - May 23, 2006 04:54 AM (GMT)
I get the "not responding" error. This happens to me all the time...luckily, I'm so determined that I will end the task and start over as many times as I need to, but I can't say it isn't aggravating.
Love the site otherwise :).
lothlorien - May 23, 2006 05:09 AM (GMT)
hmm, i do not encounter any such error. perhaps it's because of your computer or your isp?

I use 2 different computers to access this site. The one with Windows XP works fine, but on my older Windows ME system, I also get the "not responding" error.
yamingirl - May 27, 2006 06:35 PM (GMT)
I never have this happen here. I'm not sure what the deal is.
dolphin - May 27, 2006 06:52 PM (GMT)
I have Windows Me as well, and it is continually freezing...and I have to go offline completely.

Me too. VERY FRUSTRATING!! Especiallly during E's disappearing act yesterday when I was desperate for information. I had to close down my browser at least 30 times. :clubbed: grrrrrr.

Same thing happens to me. It freezes with my computer with Windows 2000, but it's fine with my laptop, which has XP.

I was locked out for two days! Thought I did something bad but tried again tonight and got right in......

I have Windows XP and this happens to me all the time. It's quite frustrating.
efunk_adelic - May 29, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
not sure why... It does happen to me also.
Ms_Garfield - May 29, 2006 05:32 PM (GMT)
Count me in. I have Windows XP and it just keeps freezing up.
Maia12 - May 30, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
I have this problem each time I access this board at home. My operating system is Windows XP, too. Has a solution been discovered yet?
VirginiaNana - May 31, 2006 06:59 PM (GMT)
I have the same problem - this is getting very frustrating. I spend most of my time over at the AI boards, because I have to completely restart my computer almost every time I come over here>
mvemulap - May 31, 2006 07:05 PM (GMT)
I use Windows XP for my OS as well ... The problem could be with your browser ... Please try firefox or mozilla (these are the ones I use). I have never had this problem before!
For downloading firefox use :

ltlurker - June 1, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
I have XP also, and DSL, and I never freeze up anywhere else except on this board. It happens about one out of every three times I'm here. (Makes it really hard to lurk. :) )
(And, I appreciate the browser suggestions, but I'm not about to change my browser for one site...no matter how grEat it is! :D )

I know what you mean I get the non-responding thing all the time too, except
my computer will freeze and I have to shut down the system and I get very
frustrated! It happens a lot for me and I don't know why?

I wonder if the problem intensifies the more people are viewing a particular forum? I was actually doing pretty well today between eleven o'clock AM and about 3 PM, but since then, the only forum I can even enter to view without freezing my computer is this one...
ltlurker - June 2, 2006 05:39 PM (GMT)
I think I just discovered away around this problem.
If I go to "Today's Active Topics" instead of using the Forum Menu, I don't seem to have nearly the problem with freezing up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that.

Of course, that assumes you can even get to that page. Lately I just get a completely purple page. I have so many problems with this site I just want to shoot it! I have no other problems with any other sites.
Is anyone working on this?
Anyone?

MCornelio, another moderator, suggestd my browser is at fault. He told me to go to www.mozilla.com and download Firefox browser by clicking on the Firefox icon. I did and found it works great for E-Train! PM me or Mcornelio if you have further questions. Also, we are starting a "technical" forum for all technical discussion, questions, suggestions, assistance, etc...

Actually, thet technical forum is and always has been the FAQ section where it says to post questions. But I think we need a specific pinned topic there with "freezing" suggestions and I am going to suggest it.
orbgemma - June 9, 2006 04:23 AM (GMT)
I have the freezing problem all the time with this E train site. I use Windows XP and IE browser. I cannot change my browser for just one site. I am active on a number of Invision boards and have never had this problem. There is definitely something funky with the Etrain board. Can a techie person look into this, please, and try to fix? Pretty please?
I have the freezing problem on 2 different computers at home, my computer at work, and a public computer at the library. It's crazy. What could the problem be? I sure wish it could get fixed so I could access the board on a regular basis. Plus, think of all the E fans looking for a board and finding this one that freezes all the time. They will probably never return.
Mimpy - June 10, 2006 02:12 AM (GMT)
I've never had a freezing problem with this board. It's incredibly fast!

I have a computer saavy friend, who knows a lot about websites and setting them up. She said that the owner of this site needs to get with Invisionfree to find and solve the problem.
She said that no one should have to change browsers to keep from freezing. The problem is with the website, not your computer.
I have the same problem, when I click on "The Man" or "The Music". I would love to read and post in those topics, but it's very frustrating. Most times, I freeze instantly in those topics.
tex4e - June 13, 2006 03:04 PM (GMT)
I have the same problem with my computer. I have XP (Pro) and IE. It is very frustrating when it freezes time after time. I do hope the problem is resolved soon.
DoxieChickLuvsE - June 13, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
I just wrote on another similar topic that for me, it seems to freeze during peak hours when the forums are the most busy, and the most busy forums like "The Man"> Once traffic and viewing dies a bit i can get in without freezing up. Not sure if that is the case for everyone, but i have figured out that is what is happening with me. It happens on my high speed and dial up, so neither seem to have much effect.

Yup! During peak times I never enter "The Man" forum. I usually just click on "active topics" and it keeps me posted on all the forums and very rarely freezes up.
orbgemma - June 19, 2006 05:57 AM (GMT)
It would be great to hear some feedback from the owner of this board on whether he/she is looking into this major problem, progress made, etc. There's no reason this board shouldn't work just fine, since many Invision boards work fine with the IE browser. Something is screwy somewhere with the board, just needs a techie person to track it down. Please. Thanks. :valentine:
Mamarazzi - June 19, 2006 11:53 AM (GMT)
You might want to consider Mozilla Firefox as a browser option. I have no problem with this site using Firefox, and find it's much faster than Explorer.
kristene5 - June 30, 2006 04:03 AM (GMT)
I have windows XP and DSL and I have never had a problem. I don't have a lot of posts, but I do come on everyday. :)
Wahntchre - June 30, 2006 05:36 AM (GMT)
Things are good for me. :)
Maia12 - June 30, 2006 05:00 PM (GMT)
When I access the site at home, I have to use a browser other than Internet Explorer. IE had not only been freezing the browser window, but at times causing my computer to crash. I contacted my ISP, but their suggestions were no help. I have been having good luck accessing the site using Netscape's browser.
I hope that this problem will be resolved soon.
tufntender - June 30, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
I don't have problems with the site freezing, but on the pets ot thudalicious thread, it takes forever for all the pics to load, but that is not the forums fault, it's my dinosour PC. Just thought I share this with you all :)

We assure you that we have had very capable persons look into the boards technicalities on our side and have found them to be perfectly alright. Websites loading on your PCs and them freezing up could after all be due to errors on your browser settings, your ISP connections, firewall settings and plenty of other issues that are related to your end and not ours (ergo, some people not having problems while some having them even though they're using the same browser or have the same ISP). Thus, we cannot diagnose these for each and everyone of you as it is logisitically impossible. The most we can do is ensure things are okay on our end (the board settings, html codes, etc.).
But thanks for bringing these concerns to us. It keeps us on our toes. Hopefully, things could be fixed for those who are having problems. :)
