Title: Yahoo Bombing
Description: Did we do it?

I found this under music http://buzz.yahoo.com/music/ but I'm not sure if it's the same one I saw the other day.

Any ideas?

I was wondering how that turned out as well....

The other day someone posted that they'd seen Elliott on the top movers list; I couldn't find him and just a couple of days later, I noticed that there were separate lists for all the categories, and that he was in Music. I don't know what position he held when that poster mentioned him, so I don't know if his ranking was improved by our efforts.

Oh well, no. 6 is certainly better than nothing. Kudos to everyone who tried. He's still no. 6 right now after more than one day has lapsed, so perhaps he would've been up there without our help, and we're jut a drop in the ocean.

At any rate we got a good lesson in PR; see how Kellie Pickler got up there because she was on a show watched by over 30 million people? And how Antonella Barba (someone on another board called her 'Antoiletta'; funny!) stays up there?

I guess when Elliott makes his appearance on AI, it'll do more for him that his fan base can!

Yeah guys, as far as I can tell, he's #6 for the weekend, due in most part to our increased searches. What was confusing was that this position was posted up on Friday, and I don't remember seeing them update it again. In theory, there was supposed to be a new list posted today, and I was hoping he would have been #1. Maybe he needs to get fake boobs like Pickler. :)

In any case, we definitely helped.

He was #11 on Wednesday, dropped off the chart completely on Thursday, and bounced back up to #6 over the weekend (AFTER our searches got counted). The timing is great because he will be up on the chart there until they re-update on Tuesday again.

Good work everyone!

I do remember seeing him at number 6 in movers. Maybe I'm dreaming :). And it was days before I saw this. Alien I think it was when you posted it.

I was thinking, even though the date was different, they didn't update it. I don't remember who else was on the list though.

Itslate, I'm thinking that maybe it would've been no. 6 with, or without us.

ETA: In other words, Yahoo searchers are such a huge group that the efforts of a couple of hundred efans and friends are simply a drop in the ocean and only genuinely changing tides of interest can make a difference. Maybe McPhee was up there legitimately after all!

Oh well it's good we tried, now we know.

or it could be they don't update over the weekend....

Or it could be we were so distracted by the single debut that we forgot to search as much as we intended to.

that is true, as well.

maybe a bad day to plan a bombing, with some etrainers having their web browser's stuck in "Wait For You" mode that day......

When I checked it yesterday afternoon, he was at #9. Then around 9 or 10 p.m., he was at #6.

alienhamster - March 4, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
I definitely think we had an impact--just not as great of one as I was hoping. Also remember that the "mover" impact measures growth. He likely had maximum searches on Thurs., but he didn't chart as high because people had already been searching him in increasing numbers earlier in the week.

But we have to keep in mind: he's #6 out OF ALL MUSIC SEARCHES ON YAHOO! That's pretty awesome if you ask me. The longer his name's on the yahoo buzz pages, the more people will click on his name to find out more.

I'll admit :( I could have done better.
