Title: Important Announcement
Description: Everyone please read.

hey everyone. we understand that everyone is in high spirits at this time, as we are all anticipating (perhaps, some of us a tad too giddily) the release of Elliott's new album. And with so much new material becoming available to us via music streams off some music sites, and the positive reviews being made of it, we all can hardly contain our excitement and are almost too impatiently counting the days till we can finally get our hands on the full album. we caution everyone though on putting up links to sites that have ripped the music off from those sites that have been granted permission to stream them before their official release as there are legal copyright issues we need to respect, especially, as we expect that we are all keen on protecting Elliott's best interests.
we ask everyone, therefore, to please not be posting links to sites that have those material but without legal permission to do so; i.e., sites that stream the music legally are ok. this would include digital vendors, and the like.
links to youtube videos made from ripped, therefore unlicensed material are a no-no. the mods will be editing posts that contain links of this kind. we hope that this is understood by everyone. thank you very much.

and lest it be misconstrued, no, this does not mean that we are banning the discussion of the new music. in fact, we encourage such discussion.
nor does this mean we are totally banning all youtube links. youtube links to ALREADY RELEASED material are most definitely allowed.
after all, my siggy does carry a youtube link. lol.

does this include the myspace streams??I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong since I didn't remove it..is that a legal way to listen??
lothlorien - March 6, 2007 06:52 AM (GMT)
if you're referring to the myspace stream of "you are the one", that one is allowed since it was the music producer himself that streamed it.
some artists also stream their music via myspace so posting links to that is also allowed (again, the qualifier, always, is that whoever has copyright of the material grants that site or that permission to stream it.) again, the only links we do not allow posting of, are those that link to sites that have material that weren't legally procured.
so yes, samimama. myspace is a legal way to listen to it. what would be illegal is if you would rip the music stream, and then upload it to a file host and then post the link so everyone can download it.

There are a few links on amazon that i think should be removed (including one mirror to Elliott's video snippet that i posted myself)

There were some members who weren't able to listen to Elliott's Trainwreck on Derek Bramble's Myspace, so I recorded the audio with my digital camera and posted it to Youtube. Let me know if this is a problem!

I think some of the sound quality on the youtube stuff is pretty poor. I don't think it advertises well for Elliott, naturally I wouldn't comment there but I've noticed it.

I'm glad you said that because I don't think that it's the best way for first time listeners to appreciate his music either. Sound quality is not good and it defeats the whole idea of promoting him.

singitE, that is also one of the reasons why we advise against posting links to unlicensed music samples -- the quality is usually bad that it doesn't do the material real justice.
efan, i've already edited your posts with the links so it's alright but please don't post them again as that song is yet unreleased. you can certainly share the link with friends via pm or email but please not on the public thread.
outofmymind, if you posted those links, you should be able to edit them so please do. it would take too much time for us to comb through every thread and every post members have made. so we're asking everyone to help out and self-police. again, let me be clear, this is only for links to sites that have unreleased material without proper license to be streaming or playing this music. everything else is still good. thanks again to everyone.
