movin2thabeet - March 13, 2007 04:06 AM (GMT)
THE TIME HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!The gates are now WIDE OPEN to request Wait For You!! It’s time to
Request, Request, Request!!!>>
CALL (or Text or E-mail) your local stations AND if you can, listen to a Top 5 streamed station and request there TOO.
Start with
CHR-P (Top 40) and HAC (Hot Adult Contemporary) stations. These are the formats that have given Wait for You the most play so far. Other stations may give this song play too, especially those with UAC (Urban Adult Contemporary), AC (Adult Contemporary) and CHR-R (Rhythmic – often R&B/Hip-Hop stations) formats.

All set to request, and Movin, thanks for all your effort in compiling the station information for us.

Thanks Movin,
I'd also add:
http://movin997.com/ (KFRC, Movin 99.7 San Francisco-- Top 40 CHR, more of a KIIS LA type playlist and a new format for the Bay Area, so it may be more likely to add and easier to get through to!)
movin2thabeet - March 13, 2007 04:45 AM (GMT)
Thanks Edub for the suggestion. Could you post this on the Radio Station Contact List too?
I wanted to keep the list focused on the top stations so that people with limited time would confidently know what stations would have the greatest impact (listening audience). There's a very direct connection with size of audience and Billboard charting and sales.
Of course, if you have the time, it's a good idea to contact as many of your local stations (in the right format, that is) as possible!

No problem, for some reason I can't find the Contact List anymore... :(
K101 has pretty low ratings for the SF market and the morning show didn't show much Elliott love last year, but they could add his single.
I think other stations where we might have a better chance in SF would be:
wild949.com Wild 94.9
kdon.com KDON (it's a Santa Cruz/Salinas station but gets through to many in the South Bay Area.)

Thanks Edub,
I just checked into KDON. It's listed in the San Jose markets at a 1.0 rating. In order to keep the list focused on the top stations, the cut-off mark was usually at least a 2.0 rating for the latest period. For example, KIOI had a 2.5 rating, while KFRC had a 1.1 rating. For comparisons, other stations had higher ratings with KOIT at 5.7, but their playlists are not as likely to play Elliott right now. Therefore, KFRC was selected as the top choice for a SF streaming station.
BTW, the Contact List can be found here:

San Jose...Cupertino...Fremont...Monterey...Santa Cruz.....etc :cheerleader:
Edub - March 13, 2007 05:35 AM (GMT)
Got it, thanks!
San Jose is KDON's secondary market since it reaches that far. Monterey is the primary market @ #80 w/ a 5.9, not a huge number, but incredibly influential to higher ranked SF stations like KMEL and KYLD.
The morning show at KISQ likes Elliott and could give it a partial spin... but would probably not be able to add it until a few months down the road given their format-- same with KOIT, they skew more AC now, but it will take a few months before they would add WFY, but I think it would work on there eventually...

That's great nanab!
Have you checked out the top stations in San Jose (taken from the Radio Contact List):
San Jose (#35)
1. KBAY 94.5 www.kbay.com 800/948-5229 (AC) L
2. KOIT 96.5 www.koit.com 800/564-8965 (AC) L
3. KYLD 94.9 www.wild949.com 888/333-9490 (CHR-R) L
4. KEZR 106.5 www.kezr.com 408/575-1065 800/499-1065 (HAC) L
5. KMEL 106.1 www.kmel.com 800/955-KMEL (CHR-R) L
6. KIOI 101.3 www.star1013fm.com 800/800-1013 (HAC) L
7. KISQ 98.1 www.981kissfm.com 888/547-7366 (UAC) L
KEZR 106.1 specifically looks like a good possibility for now.

nanab, not sure if you can get Fremont stations, but 89.3 is the College radio station in Fremont that plays CHR. Not sure if they count towards spins but people definitely listen-- it's commercial free and has a playlist like KIIS.
If you want to try there it's 89.3 KOHL www.kohlradio.com
Of all the station's listed for SJ, I think the best bet is KYLD-- if they add it, KMEL might add it but I doubt KMEL would add it if it wasn't on KYLD first (they're more urban "getto" than they used to be.)

So far, the formats that are playing WFY have been (in this order) CHR-P, HAC and AC. Both CHR-P and HAC stations tend to play alot of AI artists and JT and Beyonce as well. They also usually have ads for American Idol (another good indicator). I think the more Urban stations might come along later, as well as the Hits stations.

Here's the telephone number for XM Hitlist (XM 20 on 20 told me they might start playing it by next week). I just called and requested it on Hitlist. You just listen to the recorded message, press 1 and record.
866.312.3030You can check what is currently playing on all of the XM stations here:
http://www.xmfan.com/guide.phpYou can also use the search feature on that page to get a list of the last time a particular artist was played on each XM station. Unfortunately, Elliott hasn't been played yet (EVER!!!) so when you search his name the current playlist comes up. Maybe we can change that in the next few days.

Come On Philly Stations! It's a big city :). Q102 gave me I'll check it out. I told them it's released today, and so far have not heard it in Philly only streaming (like they'd be cool to be the first to play it) :)

What's going on???
I called the most popular station in my area, 107.5KZL, in Greensboro NC (Top 40) to request the song. The DJ said he would look for it.
I called him back a couple of hours later to ask why I hadn't heard it, and he said they actually looked for it and they hadn't sent it to them yet.
I asked it he could get it from ITunes, he said no.
He said they couldn't play it if they hadn't sent it to them yet
memberoftheEtribe - March 13, 2007 08:37 PM (GMT)
Nanab and others in SJ. Have you been able to get it on the air in the South bay yet? If so which station?
I called in this morning to 106.5 and spoke to Bill, the DJ for the Bill and Marla show in the morning commute hour. I requested the song and he sounded like he was hip to playing it but never did. They talk about AI all morning long so eventually I know the tie-in will be there for them to play it. They play Daughtry's song over and over and Marla was a fan of his.
movin2thabeet - March 13, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
People have been noticing that often the playlists of the morning shows of many stations is pretty fixed and usually it's mostly songs that are already at the top of the charts and are in heavy rotation on their playlists. Requests made in the afternoon and evening may be more successful.
Also, today is the first day of POSSIBLE airplay. It often takes weeks to get a song established on the airwaves. Even Daughtry and Kat had this experience. And Ellliott's CD is not even out yet which will help enormously. Please be patient, and keep requesting.
BTW, we haven't yet seen any new airplay on Yes.com yet today besides the Little Rock station. All new airplay should be posted in the Radio Airplay Tracker thread
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8997 where I will continue to keep the top post updated with all airplay.

Well, my local KIIS station talks about idol but it seems like the only one they've been playing is Daughtry. I need to vent today so please forgive.
I've called this station, usually in the mornings on my drive home from work. Well, I always end up talking with the same dj. One time I did call in the afternoon and got a different dj. Well, I called this morning on my way to work. The dj was rude and accused me of having an Elliott "fetish" and he may have called me a freak too. He said mine was the only number showing calling to request Elliott. I've called a total of 5 times in over a month! He said he'll look for it but doubt if he could "find" it. Stated "he's no where to be seen on the billboards/top 40." After he had pissed me off with his rudeness, I said I thought if it was good enough for KIIS/LA it would be good enough for here. Then the girl dj piped in stating they don't get stuff for like 4 months after LA...bull. Oh, and when he brought up about the billboards, I said, well I guess I'll be calling you in a couple weeks. Central IL sucks, just saying. I'm not listening to that station again. The other one in the same town may be more receptive. I'm so turned off at this point, I'm not calling to request for awhile. I hate to start my day bad and that dj got me soooooo peeved. Not that he wouldn't play E but his rudeness!! I'm considering emailing the program director, just to report this dj for how he treated "this" listener. Well, this "former" listener.
movin2thabeet - March 13, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
bigefan, sorry you had such a miserable experience. Yeah, I'd take a break from that station for awhile. Maybe you can post here to let people know what the call letters, frequency and city is so other people can also support your requests. Getting an wide assortment of requests in will ultimately be most beneficial.
It does sound like the DJ was exceptionally rude to you. But the information they provided is not that far off from what we've heard. It takes awhile to get established on the airwaves, especially taking the independent route that Elliott has taken. Having KIIS play WFY so often is very helpful but it doesn't necessarily equate to getting play on other stations. It does help him move up on the charts since it has such a large listening audience. Many stations do have a policy of needing a song to remain on the top of the Billboard charts for awhile before they'll even consider playing a song.
Not all KIIS stations are created equally. Do you know what format this station has? If you don't know, I can find out if you provide all the station's information. If they're playing a mix including JT, Beyonce, Daughtry, Akon, Nelly Furtado, Rhianna, Fergie, John Mayer, Gwen Stefani - you're in the right place, well, as right as can be at this point.
Anyways, that's why we need to continue requesting, with patience. It could take weeks or maybe even months to get WFY on the air. Keeping the faith and considerate persistence will help us get through this period.
shatner8 - March 13, 2007 11:06 PM (GMT)
I called today to my local KIIS station, located in Albany, NY. Afternoon
DJ was cool, asked me if I was a Elliott fan, and if I was upset about him getting 3rd place next yr. Told him about Elliott's cd on 3/20/07 and his promotions. He asked me if I knew about Dole promotion (good sign!) and free download and told him I knew. Did ask him to play "wait for you", he was unfamiliar with the song, and it didn't get played this afternoon.
All in all, felt it was not a bad contact, and will continue to request and talk about Elliott
Benito - March 13, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
I did call www.z100.com (Top 40 Station in NYC: #1 Market) this morning, to request for "Wait for You" and the guy at the other end was very nice. He accepted my request, but I don't know if they played it coz I had to go to work. When I called, they were playing the J. Timberlake song, "What comes around. . "
movin2thabeet - March 13, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
Well, it hasn't yet shown up on on Yes.com but I'll add it to the considerations list. When it finally does make it on to the airwaves at that station, that will be HUGE. Hope everyone, both in NY and elsewhere, via streaming, is calling in to request here.
bigEfan - March 13, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
The station is 99.7 KISS-FM in Springfield IL. www.997kissfm.com And they do play the artists you listed. I'm still annoyed at this dj's rude behavior. I know some stations promote this online, etc. aka Howard Stern, but this stations not like this, nor was I online. (That I'm aware of cuz I'd put the mute on!) Well, if I was, at least I got E's name out there! LOL!

I remember when Chris' It's Not Over came out it took them a while to start playing him, I think they started playing Kat's not far from the day of her release. Now, they are both being played constantly on that station.

Just received this from an E Fan:
I was planning to email the local radio stations here in Kansas City
and the oddest thing...all the sites are having "errors" and won't let
me on...and KS/MO Elliott fans having the same problem.
Any advice?

For those of you who have been frustrated by AM morning DJ's or the producers, please keep in mind that a lot of new spins get planned for the PM shift and the Overnight shift.
If you look over the MediaBase charts you will see a couple of WFY spins in the AM, (Richmond and KIIS-FM in LA,) but for now, I would attempt to reach a PM or Overnight shift DJ if they have a live human being taking calls.
Remember our own Elliott worked the overnight shift. :glomp:
Sk8888
p.s. Just as I was finishing this post, a station in Norfolk played WFY at 7:16 p.m. EST.

I've temporarily givin up on the channel I mentioned previously. I'm definitely not calling in the morning again. Well, at least not until Elliott IS in the top 40 and I can request that this particular jerk of a dj eat crow on the air just for me! :rotfl: I'll be calling in the pm and probably use different cell phones too! Geeze, does E know some of the crap we have to put up with for him! :rotfl: It's all good, I'll put up with all the rudeness and stupidity as long as it gets E's music out there on the airwaves!

I've requested to KBCO in Boulder, CO. I'll be interested to see what response I get. The station is a clear channel station but plays a lot of indie artists. However, they can be music snobs at times so we'll see.
movin2thabeet - March 15, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
wowhesgood,
Have you seen the Radio Contact Thread?
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=914There are other top stations in the Denver/Boulder area that have formats that would be good chances for playing WFY. These are taken from the list mentioned above:
Denver (#22)
1. KOSI 101.1
http://www.kosi101.com 303/631-2101 (AC) Lreg
2. KQKS 107.5
http://www.ks1075.com 303/228-1075 (CHR-R) Lreg
3. KBCO 97.3
http://www.kbcoradio.com 303/631-2973 (AAA) L
4. KALC 105.9
http://www.alice1059.com 303/631-2542 (HAC) Lreg
5. KIMN 100.3
http://www.mix100.com 303/839-1649 (HAC) Lreg
There aren't any top CHR-P stations in the area and that is the format that so far has proven most successful for WFY. The next best are HAC stations, then AC, followed by the rest. Try these stations and please make sure to report back on the Radio Airplay Tracker thread where you'll see a list of all stations playing Elliott's music kept up to date with everyone's info.
http://etrainstation.com/index.php?showtopic=8997Thanks for requesting and posting here!
wowhesgood - March 15, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
Yes, I'd been reading that thread. I'll be curious of KBCO's response. They play a variety of music and I figure if I can get them to play any of his songs it will boost sales of his cd in the area.
movin2thabeet - March 15, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
By rankings of listener audiences in the most recent reports, KOSI had a ranking of 6.1 compared to 4.3 at KBCO. So KOSI has a much bigger listening audience in the area. Also, KOSI is way more likely to play Wait for You than KBCO. The AAA format, while I might listen to it more (and while I lived in Boulder I did listen to KBCO), is not a great candidate for playing WFY at this time. If you can, I highly suggest putting some requesting time into KOSI.
BTW, if Elliott releases Train Wreck as a radio single, from what I've heard of it, that might be a better fit for KBCO. Need to match each released song to the right radio format - even if it mean requesting at stations we usually never listen to.
wowhesgood - March 15, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)
I agree that WFY doesn't fit that well for KBCO but I'm hoping that when his cd comes out there will be something that will. I'll request to the other stations too. I want to hear Elliott on KBCO since I listen most to KBCO and Sirius.
Which, btw, has anyone heard WFY on Sirius? I'd put in requests to Heart & Soul, The Pulse and Sirius Hits 1.
