Title: Etrains Future
Description: Can we stay a group? Please!

Moody's lovechild - March 16, 2007 10:21 PM (GMT)
Has anyone thought about the day our lad is doing just fine and though he should always have forums here and remain an important topic,at some point we might have to do a Yaminions and branch out a little. It's such a great group here that I would like to see us keep it going. Lets face it there is life beyond Idol and Elliott. Lets vow, although I guess Brandon and a few others have alot to say about it, to keep on truckin. I'd just like to see this site live on. Maybe we could get behind Melinda for example if we can all agree that she is the one to support and be viable in another race for top dog. I think we could multitask that way, even if it does mean she will get Clived. LOL. Any thoughts?

dtrowbridge - March 16, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
I personally don't think I will ever get tired of talking about or following Elliott career.

I shudder at the thought of "branching out" like the mis-fits.

I REALLY don't want this site to be involved for any other idol...how would we ever agree. We came together for Elliott, not anyone else.

It got a bit quiet between idol and the album but we managed.

I agree with you -we should keep this site about E. I don't want us to ever branch out like the misfits or change to site to supporting someone else (not that we could ever all agree anyway)....

i think we should keep the site how it is, what's the point of branching out? so we don't feel obsessive? there are plenty of fansites for other artists that have been around forever. by changing the site, it almost seems as if you feel elliott isn't enough to keep it around (im not tring to argue or anything, just saying what i think) even if he does fade ino the oblivion so many idols have fallen into (which i highly doubt because he's awesome =]) the site should still stay the same.

and also, if you were obsessed you'd go through elliott's garbage or something =P

Thank you for the rational response. I was just making a suggestion and I'm starting to wonder if we don't need an Etrain therapist sometimes. I've sampled some other new music on Barnes and Nobles website that is pretty darn good too, dare I say just as good?

I Believe Elliott Is Genuine Enough To Rely On His Friends, Family, & Fans For Continuous Support! 4EVA I AM!!

noira - March 17, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
I don't really agree with supporting another Idol. I do have an interest of talking with members about other things than Elliott.
In the past that wasn't really successful, even though there were some nice discussions about other TV shows such as Rock star and SYTYCD :)
Some people said they don't have time to talk about anything other than Elliott and I respect that.
I work evenings and have no children, so there is always an hour I can spend chit-chatting about general stuff. Just not sure if this here forum is up for it.
I will certainly keep my eye on this thread to see what people have to say about it ;)

Well, This is how I feel about it
(stolen from Brandon's siggy) This says it all......

We are and forever will be ... THE E-TRAIN!

The great thing about ETrain is that we DO talk about more than just Elliott (though he is the core of our homestead! ) We have the Off Topic forum, Off the Record forum AND we continue to have an AI forum to discuss the newest crop of contestants.

I completely agree about this being a great group. We all share an enthusiastic love for Elliott & for one another as well. That love is exactly the glue to keep us together!

:etrain:

lindagt - March 17, 2007 01:26 AM (GMT)
I love the people I have met on this site and I love music (yes even music other than Elliott's music) and I love discussing it.This is, for now, an Elliott site - with threads and forums for off topic discussions. I see the potential for this to become the message board for Elliott's "official" website someday. I think there will be always a desire to talk about Elliott and his career - even though there won't be as much for us to *do* to make him the successful artist that he deserves to be.

I hope if we find other forums that are interesting IN ADDITION to the Etrain, we will share that information and perhaps follow our friends to those forums for more in depth discussions of music in general.

I really like those other forums... They allow us to talk about other things, but E is still the main focus of the site as a whole. I think it's a good compromise. :grouphug:

Because Of Etrain, Et Al & Myspace, Elliott Really Has No Need For A Website!! :woohoo:

Moody's lovechild - March 17, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
This is what I mean. I PM'ed one of the pioneers you might say of this site who was slightly critical about a certain issue, and received a message back that he/she didn't know how it would be taken and thanked me for understanding.,a lowly one passenger car guy. It is hard to be grounded here, you feel like there will be a lynch mob out for you if you don't fall in line. The response to this post so far is what I would expect from a group of good folks and is why I'd like to see if we can keep this group together even when Elliott has "gotten there".

georgiafan1 - March 17, 2007 06:11 AM (GMT)
Elliott is the whole reason for this site. There are other forums on this E-Train to discuss a variety of topics.

My opinion is that this E-Train site should never change it's main focus. That is why we came here in the first place.

For people who want to discuss other matters, visit the other great forums and threads on this E-Train site. There are other sites for other interests, visit them.

Perhaps it is personal experiences, but I for one have NEVER been hesitant to say what I feel here. There are many things that I have taken a different stance on with other members, but I never felt attacked or judged...or even mobbed. To be honest, the ONLY mobbing I have ever seen has been during the time when much 'drama' & negativity was being spouted about E, those in his life or this site in general. Most of us here LOVE ETrain & make it our 'second home', so yeah, we are gonna be very territorial & defend what we love. But in a general scenerio, there are MANY posters here who disagree with one another, the key is that we RESPECT & APPRECIATE each other. I, personally, love that different points of view are displayed, it allows me to see 'outside the box' on certain issues.

I guess what I am TRYING to say, is that I hope the feeling of having to 'fall in line' fades quickly moody, cause I appreciate everyone here & love to hear what everyone thinks...whether I agree or not. And I believe the rest of ETrain feels the same as I. So speak up & say what ya feel!! :glomp:

The E train has been a great place to talk about Elliott and sometimes talk about other things as well, I hope that we never lose the focus on Elliott tho, it is why I fled the AI boards so many months ago, nearly to the day that Elliott
departed from AI.
I am impressed by the respect given here, even when people didn't agreed.

Even during those difficult periods of little information about E's contract and career plans, we stuck it out, and stayed together, even when some days looked really bleak, which makes the past few weeks even more of a reason to celebrate!

Realitymom, just what you said hon :)

I hope Etrain stays for a long, long time. I really hope to some day meet up with fellow cyber friends/fans of Elliott. I've NEVER been this involved on a message board like I am here. Sometimes it's like a second home lol.

I just double checked to make sure I had the facts right. 278,000 posts and the first album hasn't been released yet. I want my second passanger car so I'm up to fifty. Sarcasm aside it's all good. I don't have anything better to do right now than shoot the bull with you all in my spare time. He had a huge affect on all of us. That can't be a bad thing, right?

realitymom - March 18, 2007 05:10 AM (GMT)
Most definately NOT a bad thing! 278,000 posts? Good grief, we sure are a windy bunch! :rotfl:

I don't post here often but I come here every day. I don't live in a part of the country that has enabled me to support Elliott in his hometown and I have only gotten the opportunity to meet one other E-Trainer in person but I know so many of the personalities on this Elliott forum. I hope to meet E-Trainers at Elliott's future concerts and venues that he performs at. I sincerelyy hope that the E-Train NEVER pulls into the station for good - that it keeps on chugging in one form or another for as long as Elliott is able to sing, do concerts and record CDs! I am old enough to have gone through Beatlemania and since then this (Elliott Yamin) is as close as I've come to that time in my life since then and to an artist having such an impact on my busy life. I get turned on by other music. Just the other night I saw a music video (don't even know what TV station it was on) of James Morrison singing "You Give Me Something" and liked it so much that I went to Amazon.com and listened to clips of his other songs from his "Undiscovered" CD. I bought it today at Target when I went to stare at Elliott's gorgeous face on the Coming Soon CD board! But, somehow, Elliott is "my guy". Somehow he is inextricably wound through my heart and my life and I know that is never going to change. Ever. My wonderful husband understands! I love reading here every day and posting once in a while and I think there are tons of people who read every day and never post. I feel there will always be a need for this site and shudder to think of it ever going away. Elliott will always need fans. As far as other topics everyone is completely free to discuss them and I see no reason for anyone to feel uncomfortable or somehow afraid to do just that in the appropriate threads! Is it March 20th yet?!

Goog grief Texas gal, I'm a guy so the Beatles just had a musical hold on me, but we must be close to the same age. Alot of thought goes into age lately as fifty is less than two weeks away. I do know what you are saying about the comparison in that the beatles took what they heard from early american rock and blues and turned it upside down. It was groundbreaking. Elliott loves early soul music but isn't trying to sound like any one of his influences. I hope he too will be groundbreaking as his career moves forward, and he gets more control over song choices. Lord knows the talent is there

A1TexasGal - March 19, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Actually, Moody's, I have to be one of Elliott's oldest fans! I am 60! But, I am a very young at heart 60. Remember that 60 these days is the new 40! I'm 60 like Cher and Goldie Hawn are 60 except unfortunately I don't have the looks or the bods they do!!! I'm sure that Elliott has fans of just about every age and that is why, since he is sooo talented, that he will be so successful - so many different age groups loving and buying his music!

I love it here but have to admit I'm bEEYdazzled and sometimes feel uncomfortable expressing my heartfelt feelings-especially in front of the very rational, objective types-who might not "get" right-brainers...I can be analytical too but rarely regarding E, and I would like to be able to just express my feelings somewhere without embarrassment or justification...most of the time that place is Etrain I think...

If I had my way, the E-Train will always be an Elliott Yamin site. It is probably the largest gathering of Elliott fans on the net. Not only that, I think that it stands as a testament to the broad range of high-class fans that are attracted to the special person that Elliott is.

In the early days of the ETrain, there were many who were (dare we say) not appreciative of the over-riding philosophy of the ETrain--that is, to provide a safe place for Elliott fans to promote our favorite idol. We weathered many storms (and trolls). Despite the many challenges, I think we've succeeded in being what we set out to be.

In the past year, there have been many who have tried to imitate Elliott both vocally and in personality traits. None have succeeded because there is only one Elliott. Likewise, there is also only one E-Train and I hope that it will live on forever.

As a site, we've always tried to shy away from commercial activities (e.g., sales) that would detract from Elliott's career. All resources that are provided here have been generously donated by Elliott volunteers and I'm really proud of what you all have accomplished.

In the final analysis, the E-Train is not really this site, it's the people who have come here to meet with friends and to support Elliott Yamin. It's amazing to think that some friends here have never met in person and others have gone across the country to meet with people they met here.

Before the E-Train, I was determined to support Elliott in whatever way I could because I believed in his music and I believed in him as a person based on what I had seen during Season 5 on American Idol. After meeting Elliott in person, I'm even more convinced that he is the real deal and I am a forever fan of "da man."

I'm glad that along the way, I found this special place. From what I've seen over the years, most Elliott Yamin fans are not fair-weather fans. Like me, they're in here for the long haul.

I always thought Brandon's siggie was a bit sophomoric but I think it's appropriate here: "We are and forever will be ... THE E-TRAIN!"

Elliott: You Da Man!

I had no idea there were places like this, I had never been on the AI site. I didn't know there was a place to talk about Elliott.
The night Elliott was voted off I just didn't know what I would do. I went on Yahoo and put in Elliott Yamin.
