| I'm excited too. OK, this would be my perfect scenario for Elliott's appearance tonight: 1. AI would show the water treatment clip from his Angola trip. 2. Elliott would sing "Free". 3. Ryan would offer condolences for his loss of Claudette and to congratulate him on his Gold CD and Gold single. Of course the night would be beyond perfect if Jason's safe and sent to the couch early. |

It hit me with renewed force - the terrible loss this sweet, loving man has suffered. And yet he still managed to hold it together and deliver an incredible, uplifting performance. He was great, but he seemed a little nervous and still "green" - He looked amazing tonight, and seemed totally relaxed and confident - like he was in a different place entirely!!!! And what a way for AI to do a tribute to Claudette - let her son sing a song of inspiration and say goodbye onstage. |

| I recorded just that segment (well some seconds past it) and have it on repeat and just like all Elliott performances, it sounds better with each replay. For some reason, the picture was darker than I would have liked. It's in mpg format and I know some of you might not have the right codec for that, but I'm going to do a quick upload. I'm sure better copies will be available soon. It should take me about 10 minutes. |

Mariah had backup vocalists singing unison with her for a large part of the song until towards the end when she started getting in the goin' to church portion. Very good backup vocalists, I might add. |

| I had to watch it over and over. I am sooo proud of Elliott. He has the energy of a whole choir plus some more .. he is sooo awesome. He looked fantastic. His eyes were sparkling like stars. His mom is singing in Heaven with him . It was so short. I could listen to Elliott because he has so much to give. I have so many emotions running together I don't know what I feel. Happy, sad , inspired, excited and I feel like I electric running through my spirit I am so happy for him to get to the American Idol stage again. God Bless You Elliott!! |

| I felt E had the aura of a legend already--his outfit, his hair, his demeanor--reminded me of the caliber of Bruce Springsteen, the way he carried himself...GREAT performance and he commanded the stage! Couldn't have been better IMO...If there were one thing I would have changed: Ryan should have paused at the beginning of the show after he announced E's appearance so the audience could have applauded and acknowledged him. Oh well...Glad he acknowledged Claudette that way! |

A song of Elliott's with very special meaning, not only to Elliott but Etrainers and Elliott fans everywhere sung at a time when he and all of us really needed it. Beautiful indeed. Ryan's introduction -- simple and warm Elliott's attire -- very classy Elliott's performance -- amazing as always The message on his hand -- heart wrenching The REAL hug that Elliott and Ryan shared -- awwwww During Season 5, Elliott always seemed preoccupied with the cameras, trying to remember where to look, where to turn, etc. I noticed tonight he just decided to ignore the cameras and play to the audience. That's his comfort zone and watching from home, I didn't mind it at all. I also think that Mariah's performance paled in comparison! |

Your daughters are so precious! I loved their reactions. Their eyes got so big and you could tell they were genuinely thrilled. I loved the dancing, especially the way your older daughter ended the song. You could tell she knew it very well because she knew exactly when to fall to the floor. ME TOO!!! He belted out that entire bridge with such POWER, SOUL, and CONVICTION - especially that word "persistent"! Such an uplifting, transcendent vocal. I watched the entire performance several times, but I had to keep rewinding that bridge part over and over because it was nothing short of phenomenal. That was among the best vocal performances by any present or former contestant ever on the show! And I'm not just saying that because I'm a biased Elliott fan! He just reminded the world what a powerhouse vocalist he is, and I wouldn't be surprised if he sees a sales boost from this - probably for the song "Free"! If that didn't grab the attention of those who have forgotten about him or who don't know who he is, then they need to have their hearing checked. And I did see Simon on his feet after the performance. That meant a lot for him to do that because he usually only gets on his feet for superstar celebrity guests (i.e. Mariah) and just-ousted contestants. It was sweet how Paula was on her feet the whole time, swaying and beaming with pride. It looked to me like Randy was sitting down at the end, but maybe it was just because the camera was so far away. ETA: Looks like Elliott did grab the attention of at least one person who wasn't familiar with him - a commenter on rickey.org said this: "this is the first year im watching american idol so i didnt know this guy, but WOW! i really really REALLY liked him!!" |

LOL Oh yes, we DVR it & watch it together every week! They are loving the kids competing on results night too! They try to mimic the dance moves, cracks me up! |

I LOVED your girls reaction and OH MY! the dancing! Your older daughter has quite a bit of feeling in her dance. and I noticed at one point that your littlest was watching E totally mesmerized. Thanks for recording and sharing. It is when we look with the eyes of a child that we truly see. and that little one noticed right away the writing on his hand- Amazing. |

| Just one question if it hasn't been discussed already, but who is Elliott singing to at the end of the song? I also loved Sway's harmonizing. I could listen this performance all night, over and over again. |

That's what I was thinking, because it showed Paula smiling at him and then Elliott looking down at someone as he sang, and it made it seem like he was singing to her. But he could have just been looking down into the audience, I suppose. |

I was thinking that too - watching him sing, I was marveling at how effortless he makes it seem, when all the while he is belting out high notes and runs without EVER singing a note that is even slightly off-key! I have gotten so used to this, I just expect it of him by now, but tonight it really hit me as he performed in front of this year's top 7. I mean, how many of them can deliver a performance like that, at that level of difficulty, and make it look so EASY while never missing a note?!! That is an exceptional gift, and a NATURAL one too! |

| What a great performance by Elliott, it was great to see Sway, and it was a touching moment when Elliott held up his hand. Idol sure loves Elliott, and why wouldn't they, he's a wonderful, classy guy. |
