I know, but it lists "No Air" as Jordan Sparks featuring Chris Brown. Now who sings better, Chris Brown of course. I think Katharine, like Jordan, just needs her name out there. She's been gone for a while. And as to who is the better singer, Elliott of course, unless you like yelling. We just really need to show support for this song for Elliott. I haven't even heard it in Richmond. What kind of hometown are we? Sheesh. I'll be calling/emailing some stations tomorrow!

I read somewhere that usualy the more famous artist is the one "featured"..and it might be so, think of other duets...

Knowing Elliott as we all do, I'm not surprised about this one bit.

Can anyone really picture Elliott fighting for top billing? In due time, he won't have to.

I just need to put in my 2 cents worth on this subject.

I think that the artists are listed on the songs in the order in which they sing.
In the song Home it's John Rich and Anthony Hamilton. John sings first in the song like Kathryn does on Real Love. I don't know all of the other singers' voices so I can't say for sure that is the way it is on all of the songs, but it seems like it. On Willing To Try, the order is Richie S., Travis T, and Lucy W and that's how they are listed on the CD.
Then again, I may be totally wrong with this theory. Remember, it's just my opinion. It seems to me that this would be the best way to do it without bruising anyones ego. Elliott doesn't have a big ego but some artists do.

I suppose one could say "they saved the best for last".

Maybe her contract specifically required top billing? One never knows.

I wouldn't sweat the billing in the slightest. If the song's not a hit, Kat's name came first and if it's a hit - Elliott is doing most of the singing. So it's win win for me. I hope the Season 5 fan wars have cooled. (still pissed at Clive though)

I don't think its a fan war to question something. A person has a right to their opinion. There have been times when a song has appeared on two albums, the respective artist for the album would get the main billing on his/her album. Whether its Kat or Elliott, hopefully the song (bad as I think it is)will get play and get them both recognition.

Well, really it seems to me that Katharine and Elliott should simply have equal billing, and her name should go first since alphabetical order is the only fair way.

I see the song as essentially a duet in which they sing back and forth to each other, taking pretty much equal parts -- in fact, that seems to be kind of the *point* of the song, since it's all about a shared "real love," and all.

It isn't at all the kind of thing where one singer does the song and the other contributes a few overlaid vocals somewhere, or where a well known person is kindly appearing as a guest artist on some newbie's song, a la Jordin and CB.

But for some reason, the music industry doesn't seem to want to list people as equal partners in a song. Dumb, if you ask me. I wonder if there are some rights-related legal reasons or something.

They display the song title and the artist. If anyone has seen how songs with Akon are handled that would be interesting. More than anything, in our text driven world, I think there is a space limitation.

Ohioguy already said this upthread, but it's not a disadvantage in today's industry to be the "featured" artist. Right now, the most featured artists are people like Justin Timberlake and Akon. At allaccess, Kat gets first billing, but the actual single name gets listed as "Real Love (f. Elliott Yamin)." I don't see how one position is necessarily better than the other, even if it really should be called an even duet.

I'll bet you're right about this. Everything has to fit into little text windows these days. ... I would think that K.Mcphee/E.Yamin might be just as brief as some single names though, really -- if they just tried it!

I agree that the "featured artist" slot isn't a slam, and we shouldn't take it as such!

Nevertheless, in this case, it's not accurate and it puzzles me why they can't say something that *is* accurate, even with space limitations!

Elliott isn't a "featured guest" on a Kat album. This is just the two of them equally performing on a song that's actually on some third party's album -- i.e., Randy's. Plus, the "featured artist" spot is often some superstar (i.e., Chris Brown) appearing on a less starry person's album, and that's not the case here, either. They're both young performers with one album out and a modest amount of success following nearly equal finishes on AI. ...

"Mcphee/Yamin" is the way it ought to read, if you ask me!

Sweetwater

On November 1st 1950, Nat Sweetwater Clifton walked onto an NBA court. Up until that moment, the ex-Harlem Globetrotter star turned New York Knick created a chain of events that would rock the sports world, defy political barriers, change the course of professional basketball as we know it and forever live in infamy as a forgotten and possibly sequestered moment in American history.

The story begins during the inception of the National Basketball Association. Behind closed doors, a majority of the NBA team owners vote to keep the league white, thus triggering a volatile inner battle that eventually leads Ned Irish, owner of the New York Knicks, to challenge the league and it's constituents in bringing black players into the league for the betterment of the game and for the fans.

Enter Abe Saperstein. The PT Barnum of sports, whose genius creates an unbeatable all-black team that travel the globe destroying every opponent they come across. The NBA crowned champion faces the Harlem Globetrotters in what is hailed a true world championship. With the Globetrotters defacing the whiteť NBA champions, Irish's wheels begin to turn. The NBA makes it clear, time and time again, that the Globetrotters will never participate as a franchise within the league. Irish argues to the team owners, using ticket sales as his motivation- The NBA will benefit greatly from the gate draw by allowing blacks of the talented caliber the Globetrotters are, into the league. As will audiences from the entertainment value, not to mention the contribution this will make to the growth of the game. But the idea of drafting black players is rejected vehemently and Irish goes off to battle. He begins a strategic courtship of Globetrotter star Sweetwaterť Clifton. The tumultuous relationship between Saperstein, Sweetwater, Irish and NBA Commissioner Maurice Podoloff plays into a war of politics.

The chess match finds Saperstein, matching wits with Irish as the New York Knick owner/coach buys Sweetwater from the Globetrotter mentor. Soon after, other NBA team owners follow suite in Irish's path and the inclusion of blacks into the league becomes a sheik eliteť race to see which owner, which team and ultimately who will become the first black basketball player to walk onto an NBA court- the Jackie Robinsonť of basketball. Boston Celtic owner Walter Brown shocks the sports world when he drafts Duquesne star Chuck Cooper. In a dramatic turn of events, Washington Capitols owner Bones McKinney drafts Earl Lloyd from American University. The stage is set. Politics, money and corruption take on an innocent dream as Sweetwater attempts to overcome all odds and risk everything to fulfill his destiny of bringing a newť game to the world. A game that, little did he know, would light an endlessly burning torch that would eventually travel via the hands of such greats as Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Connie Hawkins, Julius Irving and Michael Jordan.

A time in a place where history was made and the greatest sport was re-born. A story never told until now, in Sweetwaterť.
